crna interviews
I just had my first interview this week and think it went fairly well. It is difficult, but try to be relaxed-I saw some people who were literally shaking they were so nervous. I agree with Max04 about being enthusiastic, showing you want it, and asking many questions about the program. Do your research and know why you want to attend their program! Good Luck!

What do you do and how long have you done it?
Just started my 7th year as an RN and did tele for 1 year, Cardiothoracic ICU and currently Surgical ICU/trauma ICU (with some travel assignments) total ~2 years and ER ~4 years. Also did some flight nursing during that time. Prior to nursing I worked as an ER tech for several years and also was a paramedic. My staff positions and travel assignments have taken me literally across the country!! Now looking to settle down for awhile and I am applying to Nurse Anesthesia programs.

CRNAs once again defamed...
I found this site that discusses a 2nd plastic surgery death at the same facility one month after the highly publicized Olivia Goldsmith case. The 2nd case involves an MDA, not a CRNA but I wonder if it got the same scrutiny.. and I wonder what Dr Kotler and MSNBC have to say about it.... http://newyorkmetro.com/nymetro/news/trends/columns/cityside/n_9981/

Question about Vecuronium
I thought mixing with sterile water (vs NS) just has an effect on the solubility, making the vec powder mix quickly- not the half life of the drug- because don't you inject into a line that generally has NS infusing through it??

Chemistry and CRNA School
Emerald, Congratulations on your acceptance!!! I am curious... did you retake orgo a 3rd time or just the 2 previous ones with the mentioned grades? Any other science courses/grad classes you retook? Did you take the GRE? I am interested b/c I am in the process of taking grad classes (just competed Pathophys and currently in pharm) and contemplating Orgo and maybe Gen Chem this fall all to help my chances of getting into school for 2005.... to make up for C's in the chems >10 years ago. I took the GRE, did well in the math portion and poor in verbal and not too excited about taking it again... But I did conquer the CCRN !yippee! Congrats once again- you're awesome!!

How do CRNAs/SRNAs benefit anesthesiology residents?
I was searching for information on the Wake Forest CRNA program and happened upon this information on the Wake Forest anesthesiology program. Dr. Royster has an interesting view on how CRNA's/SRNAs affect and benefit the anesthesiology residency program at Wake Forest.... " Another benefit of nurse anesthesia in a residency training program is the availability of nurses to relieve residents at the end of the day, so that residents can do their preoperative assignments and get home at a reasonable hour, have dinner with their family....." http://www1.wfubmc.edu/anesthesiology/Education/Residency/FAQ.htm I

Hello everyone, I am looking at schools which start in January and have received some info from the schools. Anybody out there with recent experience or thoughts on Carolina schools (East Carolina, UNC-Charlotte, USC-Columbia, Duke) or Barry, Boston College, Ganon Univ, Southwest Missouri?

Need help Quick !
Nilepoc and others, I've seen from your earlier writings that you repeated classes and took additional science classes at the CC level to improve your GPA. Is this CC route suggested if I have my BSN, took lots of science classes at the university level (>10 years ago), made C's in them and now looking to possibly retake some classes (such as Orgo, Biochem, etc) to improve the science gpa?? I assumed this might be "looked down upon" by schools I apply to. I was going to retake biochem this semester at the Univ level but instead have just registered for a Grad level Advanced Pathophysiology course. Just looking for advice since this issue resurfaces repeatedly (taking CC courses as well as repeating courses for higher science gpa's) Thanks:p
