09-10 hrsa nursing scholarship
I received my letter stating my acceptance of the scholarship today! I also had received a finalist/alternative email in September, but I didn't receive my email until September 17 at the very last minute. I hadn't received any other correspondance in regards to the scholarship since that email. I had 0 EFC, am enrolled in my first semester of a 2-year ADN program, and had filed bankruptcy 2 years ago. I have some what rebuilt my credit, but it's definetely not perfect. I pray that if you haven't received your letter yet, that you will tomorrow. This scholarship is truly a blessing, and everybody deserves it.

What was your GPA & PRE-ENTRANCE EXAM SCORE and did you get accepted ?
I made a 97 on the NLN and had a 3.23 gpa. I had to interview at one program; got accepted into both programs I applied to. You should be fine. The waiting is the hardest part!
- Anyone going to WKCTCS and could give me a heads up??I need help!

Congratulations on which ever program you choose. I guess it kind of depends on what you are comparing it to. Their pass rates are about the same when it comes to their boards. That is really the only thing I know to compare. Personally, I have heard good and bad things about different nursing schools in Kentucky~the only one I personally have experience with is Spencerian (which is a horrible school!). All I know is that you have to do what best for you. Statistically~there isn't much of a difference. And, nursing school is demanding enough, so eliminate as many stressers as you can, if you can. Money, location, and drive time are all important factors to consider~especially if you have a family!

Ok I am trying to keep tabs, all starting this fall say I
I am SUPER EXCITED to say that I have finally been accepted~after two LOOOONG years. I was accepted into Western Kentucky University's ADN program (program of choice). Congratulations to everyone~we can all relate to the hoops we have had to jump to get to this point.

TNMommy, I also went to an interview for Western Kentucky's Community College (Bowling Green Community College) the last Saturday in March. How do you think you did? This is the week we will be finding out if we are accepted or not, I cross my fingers for an acceptance! Do you recall if the lady giving out information at the beginning said how many they were accepting? I thought she said only 50, but the lady in the interview said 50 for bowling green and 20 for Glasgow, totaling 70. Do you recall? That has had me confused, because they said that out of 170 they were only interviewing 98. There is a big difference in accepting 70 out of 98 and 50 out of 98--it really changes the odds. Any how, good luck to you. Let me know if you hear anything.

Anyone in the fall 09 RN at BCTC?
I was accepted to BCTCS ADN program for the Fall 2009, but I applied to Cooper and they placed me in Lawrenceburg for some reason. I have emailed the Coordinator to ask how they placed people. I really don't want to go to an evening program, I don't work and I don't have children. But, I am ecstatic I got accepted into a nursing program! I was rolling admissions also. Congratulations!

Interpreting NET Scores
I took the NET on Jan 16 and received my scores within the next week. I scored a Comp 91%. Math 97% Reading Comp 85% These were the only two scores considered for our overall comp score. Although there was also a grammar and science section, that wasn't averaged in our score. I scored in the 98th percentile, but with the competition to get into nursing school, you never know if it is good enough!

Has Spencerian gotten their RN program back?
I attended Spencerian last quarter and withdrew within 2 weeks. The program cost $24,000 a year. The instructors didn't seem to understand how to teach the material, and couldn't answer the questions to the NCLEX study questions, even with the answers in the back of the book. The lab instructors looked at the students like an inconvenience whenever they didn't understand how to perform a skill. It was just a bigger headache than worth the money! They are still under conditional status, which means that if their upcoming pass rates aren't standard, they could still lose their accreditation. There have also been several complaints by students to the Kentucky Board of Nursing for investigation into their program. I don't recommend Spencerian to anyone. ( I am referring to the Louisville campus)
