  1. Enova, COT in May and then off to Keesler. (If I can finish out my BSN on time!) Honestly a little worried. All the paperwork I submitted said COT in Aug so I honestly though I had more time to get it done even though my projected graduation is in April.
  2. Conditionally selected for OR. Now I just have to finish out my BSN by May like projected!
  3. Same via my recruiter!
  4. So...I'm hoping that as soon as anyone hears anything about the Jan selection board they will post it here! Anyone else on here applied to the Jan board?
  5. Thanks Irfarmer! Hope you are right! I just have to get the Chief nurse interview and or nurse interview done and then it's a waiting game until the selection boards in January! :/ hope the time passes quickly!!!
  6. Irfarmer, that's great! Congrats!! This makes me a little more confident! Thank you! I've been an RN for 3 yrs and an OR nurse for 2 of those. I'm CNOR certified. And have experience circulating nearly all specialties (general, plastics, dental, ortho, ENT, neuro/spine, head and neck, hearing and balance, urology, peds, transplants, hearts, vascular, ob, GYN, eyes....I feel like I'm leaving some out but I think you get the idea) I really hope I get selected!
  7. Irfarmer, if you don't mind me asking, what's your OR experience like? How was the OR nurse interview? And was Eglin your top choice? Any other info you have that is OR unique? Im applying for January boards and I'm super nervous!
  8. irfarmer Did you apply for Oct or are you applying for Jan? I am applying for Jan as an OR nurse. Have you heard anything? Any news on how many slots are open for OR?
  9. Thanks for the tips! I'm trying to get all the paperwork together still...and working on my resume! It's pretty sucky right now! I really just want to be done with this part, but I know that the waiting until January is going to kill me! And then waiting to hear! Ugh! Hopefully I get it done quickly and then the time passes quickly! Best of luck with the selection board! Be sure to keep us all up to date here!
  10. I see! I'm putting my first application together for the January Selection board as a fully qualified nurse specialist (OR Nurse). Any tips for the application process, MEPS, ect?
  11. Servant-leader, what selection board are you applying to?
  12. So...is anyone else applying for the January selection board? I'm a fully qualified OR nurse looking to apply for the Jan selection. Questions: I was told by a recruiter that you don't go to MEPS now until after you are selected. Is this really the case? Did you all go to MEPS before your application was submitted to the selection board? Also, does anyone know how many slots for OR there is this FY?
  13. I am looking to take a job through Sterling Medical (out of Ohio). I was hoping someone might have some info on the company? Has anyone ever worked for them or know of someone who has? Any help/info is greatly appreciated!
  14. Travkitty, I'm doing the online RN-BSN Completion program. I think it's also referred to as FLEX.
  15. rkrs6673, I know this is an old thread, but i hope that you can give me a crash course on what to expect. Did you do online or onsite? And how did it all go? Which classes were the toughest? I'm registered for 12 hours of nursing classes this Fall and I worried about the course load. Any advice? Thanks in advance!
  16. ok...I know its a delayed reply, but her goes. The ASN program is entry level to RN. However, OLOLC is switching to a strictly BSN program soon. I'm not sure exactly when though. I'm not exactly sure about the essay. I didnt think mine was so good, but I got in. Another thing, OLOLC is starting a new program called walk into nursing, not sure what your situation is but I believe that you have to be a first time college student. With the program, if you take all of your pre-req (Foundation) courses at OLOLC you will have a spot in the nursing class. Honestly, I'm not sure how all that works but I have heard it advertised around campus. As far as your question about being a "current student". You first have to be accepted to OLOLC. You then have to enroll in at least 6 pre-req hours at the Lake. During the semester you are enrolled at OLOLC you can apply to the nursing program. If you meet all the requirements you listed above that is. In terms of the courses, what I suggest (and what I did myself) is to take all the classes listed for the degree that do not begin with the "NURS" course prefix. You can only take the "NURS" once accepted into the nursing program. Now all of this could change. Your best bet is to try to get in touch with the admissions office at OLOLC. Best of luck!
  17. I have to take the an ATI test this thurs and I'm nervous as well! Thanks for the information!
  18. I love my Nursemates!
  19. The new nursing school uniforms at OLOL college in Baton Rouge, La for the girls are Galaxy Blue pants and white, collared, button down, princess seam tops with the college logo. =/ The old scrubs were MUCH better!
  20. I admit that I cried BECAUSE of clinicals but not during an actual shift. I was able to hold it together until the end of the day. I wasnt feeling a 100%, had a bunch of paperwork due and had a patient that did not want me to do a head to toe assessment because of my young age. Everything combined just put me on overload and I cried on the way home. It actually helped though.
  21. =) I like Fermin Hernandez's reply!
  22. Thanks.....hard to believe that this semester is almost over! It wasnt as bad as I thought it would be! =)
  23. In order to send a PM you must have 15 posts I believe. As far as clinicals go, its tough but worth it! The schedules vary greatly. It really depends on what section of the class you are in and your clinical instructor. Time flies by and you really HAVE to stay on top of everything! Comparing yourself to those accepted really isnt a way to gauge your chances of acceptance. To be honest, I dont really even recall what my GPA was at the time I applied. Since applying in Jan for the class beginning in Fall 09, I've completed another 18 credit hours. The same goes with the TEAS test. I really dont recall what I scored. I do know that I did well though. I scored well above the benchmark. I have completed all but one Arts and Science course required for the ASN degree. Got to go study some more now. Hope this helps some.
  24. I feel like I have no idea what to expect at all in the Fall 09 when I start clinicals. Can anyone that went to OLOL tell me what a typical weeks schedule looks like along with any other advice?
  25. ok..so after reading the many different post on the site about Pharm and care plans...im starting to get a little worried...i start (traditional asn) clinicals in fall 09 at OLOL in Baton Rouge....any advice???
