Any suggestions on getting a head start
I suggest that you get a few NCLEX books and learn how to take those types of tests.... my school only tests us NCLEX style - that kind of test taking takes some getting used to.. also- anything you can do to work on your critical thinking and logic skills...practice test questions and read the rationals! They are well worth the time and effort. Maybe - get a few "how to study" guides aimed directly at nursing school and really beef up on them! I have a friend that wished she had taken a NCLEX prep class before starting nursing school - she was very math-logic oriented (from a business background) and the tests threw her for a loop. When their are lots of books on the shelf wanting to teach you how to pass a test - the clue is that there must be something different about those kind of tests... Good Luck I just finished my first year and have 1 more to go!!!!

GPC-receiving acceptance or rejection letter to nursing school
I was accepted intothe Fall 09 class..... we were told that they received over 6000+ applications and narrowed that down to 1000 qualified applications and then they accepted 180 applicants. It is very competitive to get in! and very stressful to stay in! We had one gal make it all the way through class and clinicals the first semester and then fail on her third attempt a clinical lab skill (the week before the final) and thus failed out of the program.

Horrified to start nursing school in Jan
I too had a 4.0 GPA going in to first semester....just finished with a 89 average UGH!!!! Anyway, I have 2 teens, a hubby and live about 45 miles from school and the Atlanta traffic is a full time job:) You can do it! The hardest part for me wasn't the tests, you can learn how to study and how to think critically - frustrating at times....there isn't a right or wrong answer, but a process... The hardest part for me was lab - performing a certain task with someone watching your every move was quite intimidating - you got 3 tries and if you didn't perform perfectly - you were out of the program. One of my friends (former CNA) made it through the whole semester and failed at her third attempt putting in a foley.....4 days before the final!

Can't decide on Emory
Apply everywhere - you never know.....this year- I got into GPC and not Emory - I was accepted into Emory a few years back - but declined because I had a newborn baby! So the pool of applications is always changing. Apply everywhere - GPC, Ga State, GCSU, Emory, N GA, there are a lot of programs in the area. Contact the schools now - all the nursing seminars about their programs should be starting up - that will give you an introduction into each program. And most of the deadlines for additional testing is coming soom GOOD LUCK!

HELP!! I need guidance I saw someone cheating
In our school, we had to sign that we read the syllabus and the school handbook....and in the handbook it specifically stated something like "if you see someone cheating - you will report them" Did you have to do something similar? If you were in the hospital and saw someone doing something wrong - what would you do? Stand idly by...hoping that the person would get caught eventually? Stand up for your profession! You know what the right thing to do is and what the chicken thing to do is.....BE BRAVE! Do what is right.

I believe that the seminar is optional - not required, but HIGHLY SUGGESTED if you are able to make it.... Hopefully it will give us clues on how to organize and do the first semester...not just tell us being organized is a good thing!

I had all the pre reqs except AP II, was taking that when applied.... Study hard and get A's, do good on the NET...competition is tough, close to 5000 applied for Fall 09 class (probably because it's free to apply and tuition is low)

Students Accepted to GPC Fall 09
Gwinnett College took over the campus and "kicked" out GPC......from what I understand - GPC was paying rent and was hoping to have the building and labs one more year.... Gwinnett Tech might have something to do with it and lab space....not sure..... It will be a much longer commute for me now - not too happy with the news:(

What are you going to do this summer to get ready??? I just took my last final - so now I feel that I'm a REAL nursing student! Exciting and scary at the same time!

..what is the process of getting in gwinnett tech nursing program
You have to have all your pre reqs done before you can apply....all I needed was AP II - taking currently, have 4.0 GPA in science pre reqs and was told that they wouldn't even look at my application for fall 09 class.... because I had not completed AP II yet....

Brenau v. GPC
GPC had a 100% NCLEX pass rate - what does Brenau have? You will come out with a RN either way...
-
GPC acceptance letters
I had my reply envelope stamped and ready to go - went to the students accounts office - paid the $93- they stapled the receipt to my paperwork, I put it in the envelope, sealed it and immediately mailed it..... I want to go to the Lawville campus - and apparently there are only a limited number of spots on that campus - so I had to get my letter in ASAP - hopefully I will get accepted there!!! Good Luck
