  1. if this is the program where you can take your exams online and open note/book, i heard that you dont need to do the lab portion to get a B. in other words, if you score an A on the exams and decide to fail the labs, you will get out with a B. I am not suggesting that per say, but a friend of mine did that. just thought id share. best of luck.
  2. hi there, i did not take chem with dr. klepper. perhaps the person (Fats) that wrote before me did. sorry! best of luck...
  3. Nope, no early decision here. Here's what JHU wrote to me in response to my email asking for an extension and inquiring about the different due dates: "The reason for different deposit due dates is because we probably notified her of her acceptance at a later date than when you were notified. We give all applicants the same amount of time to send their deposit in to be fair. You may opt to turn in your deposit after your deposit due date, however the deposit is what holds your spot. So, if we receive the deposit after your due date we cannot guarantee a spot will still be available. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns." I really dont want to lose 500 dollars if I get accepted to UCSF. Thoughts?
  4. So strange! I just called JHU and they confirmed my acceptance for the accelerated FNP program. Do you have any idea on why our deposit dates are different?
  5. Laura, Did you apply to the accelerated program or regular???
  6. Hi all! I was accepted by Johns Hopkins for the FNP speciality and am waiting to hear from UCSF. I also applied to Yale and Columbia but felt Johns Hopkins and UCSF fit me best. Johns Hopkins asks for a $500 deposit by Feb. 20th and UCSF will not send out its announcements until March 2nd. Is anyone else in this situation? I am trying to decide whether or not to forgo that money. Of course, in the end, I will fork it over because UCSF is such a long shot but I wanted to see if there was anyone else in the same dilemma. Thanks! Best of luck today!!!
  7. sorry but the answer is... "it depends." i found one A&P class priced around 1,000 and another at half the price. I find that most in-person classes are on the higher end, however, and you also get to pace yourself so if you run late, you don't get bumped from the class and lose your money.
  8. Those that are taking CCCO classes, are you finding them good because they are easy or beacuse they are so educational or both? :)
  9. Do most of you working in CA work full-time or part-time? Also, do you like your health care benefits? Are they decent?
  10. CAtoDC replied to bambou's topic in General Nursing
Hi Hopeful Nurse, I am not surethat UCSF is looking for something "specific" but I know that UCSF does want to see that you demonstrate competency working with others, especially within diverse groups. Regarding "nursing experience," I think volunteer work in a medical setting (nursing home, community clinic, and so on) is helpful.
  11. What did the interviewee people think? I thought the interviewers at UCSF were nice but cannot tell whether or not the interview pool was 2xs or 3xs larger than the class size they're looking to create.
  12. I am in the midst of completing my second and third online courses. The issue with online courses, for me, is that you are teaching the material to yourself. It's great because you can self-pace yourself, so you can control your schedule if you need more time or less. However, it's tricky when in hard classes because you have to wait for the professor to respond to your email questions and there is no one-on-one contact, which to me helps a lot when learning.
  13. Great advice! I think since we all know what we want to do, we will make it happen regardless of a rejection letter. Positive thoughts! :)
  14. I graduated with a bachelors in business and psych. I do not have kids and am working full-time with a business consulting company while volunteering with a community clinic during my free time. I think Yale looks at the whole package and considers how well prepared you are for the rigor of the program as well.
  15. Has anyone taken microbio through BYU? What did you think of it? I need a quick and easy, if possible :)
