I have had a preceptor ask for my resume, what class I would be taking that term, and how it applies to the clinical setting she would be precepting me in. I didn't change anything on my resume, I used the one I had to use to apply for grad school.

Hi SariNicole104, With waiting for the application, I didn't apply until late April, so the wait didn't seem as long, but I was told mine was accepted in May. As for the program, so far so good. There is a lot to learn, but it is manageable. I'm getting into the core NP classes now so we will see how this goes.

Hi! I started at Drexel last fall in the Dual Acute and Primary PNP, and so far so good. I get into the tract specific courses this upcoming winter. Let me know if you have any more questions.

This is a great question. One I hadn't considered before now. I am in a Dual Pediatric NP/AC-PNP program. I do plan to work in the hospital once I am done with school, but I don't yet know if that will satisfy my PNP credentials and if not, what do I need to do?

You are right, Mike. I find myself using my nursing tools on my kids more often than not. I have been looking on amazon to see what would be a good buy. It will definitely get used at home!

Hi, I have an 11 yr old son, who has chronic ear wax. We try to stay on top of it by putting Debrox or something of the sort in his ear on a regular basis. I thought about getting one of the home otoscopes to check his ears, but I didn't know if I will have to buy one for my clinicals. Have any of you had to purchase or use your own?

I do work full time right now but I will evaluate that as time goes on. For the classes, I thought about doing electives instead of a cert class but is that an option?

While I agree the mcat is a base for medical school and the knowledge of it, the gre is not based on graduate nursing, but graduate school as a whole.

Yes owler, I am still interested! I want to see all of my options. I do meet the criteria for USA and some others but the cost was a big thing for me. I actually wanted to pay for school (as much as I can) while in school to decrease the loans. I will be looking into them now. Thanks.

@rnmindy…So far,USA is where I'm heading since the cost is great and the lack of extra hoops to jump through is a good option too. @.sheryl. …yeah I don't know about any other schools but the one's I listed including USA are online. I just didn't know if there were any other options out there.

Hi All, I have decided to go back to school for my AC-PNP. Unfortunately, I live in a state that does not have this program, so I am looking at online programs. So far, I know there is Rush, UAB, USA, Vanderbilt, and Creighton. Is there any other online programs that you know of that I can look into and compare? Thanks

Hi All! I have been a nurse for almost 2years now. In the past year I have maintained my full time job. I also did home health and I taught clinicals for nursing students. Worked on a PICC team and blah blah blah. My question is, on my resume that I am trying to freshen up, mainly for NP school and maybe another PRN job, do I still put all the other previous "here and there" jobs, or do I just put the stuff from nursing on? I don't want the resume to be too long, I guess.

i agree that people do come to these forums to vent..I love my job. I do have days where I think what the heck just happened? The day was long and crazy but I still love it none the less.

I knew when I had APII in my pre reqs that I liked cardiac. I figured I would work in a CVICU or step down. I also knew I didnt want to work with kids! Figured there was no way I wanted to deal with peds or their parents, I was the one in class that rolled my eyes when more than half of the class wanted to be peds nurses, that was until I did my peds rotation. I was not looking forward to it, as a matter of fact I thought about skipping the 1st one since we were allowed to miss only on e a semester, but I went, and surprisingly I liked it! After that I was actually excited about the clinical rotation. I still wasn't sure, so to see if this feeling was real I went back and shadowed nurses at the childrens hospital. I really did like it. My last semester I had two rotations, the first in an adult cvicu and I was actually enjoying that and I learned alot! Then for my senior internship I was placed on a cardiac peds unit. LOVED IT!!!! They offered me an interview and then a job and it was the best decision, I can honestly say I love my job, most of my nursing friends don't feel the same about their jobs.
