Hi ! The answer to your q's. First off, I took mine on 2/9, in Sac. and it cutoff around 78. Just like you I am wondering the same things. That being said I saw some "staffers" here at allnurses, who are very knowledgable answer these same q's for those people and it seems it doesn't matter the stopped # q's, or the "last" or any of that. The test is CAT or in other words adapted to the test taker. Which means simply that based on your previous answer it will ask a question with your ability to answer it already calculated. In other words it "knows" your ability by the previous answer. Regarding how long it takes (keeping in mind that the state has furloughed everybody every other Friday and given Presiden't Day holidays, they (BON) HAVE ONLY BEEN AT WORK 3 DAYS IN A GIVEN WEEK! They are supposed to mail you something within 8 weeks from the date of exam. But, this could take longer......? I would just try and look for work since they are saying there aren't many if any jobs for new grads. Sorry for all us new grads:(

Well, this is true for a lot of nurses and yet people still want to be nurses-hm, wonder what is wrong with this picture?

Try in home care b/c they usually have a situation w/c may or may not need someone to pick up the slack from the nurse or if a family member is doing it. Also, did you say you have no experience as a CNA (certified Nursing Assistant) or HHA (Home Health Aid). In the case that you do not, you may not be able to that, but if you did it could be very good because it offers more flexibility. Good Luck and keep us posted.

In Cali you are able to sit for the lvn nclex after 1 year i have only heard this so, not quite sure. But, I would start with your BOARD OF NURSING. They will have a place online where you may either e-mail (suggested) or phone them for answer to this Q. Good luck -and Welcome!

True. The nclex is not going to have any actual chem on the exam, however you will be much more prepared for ABG'S and many other concepts in your n. prog. It is also going to make physio alot more clear. I remember when I took it there were people who were totally lost b/c they didn't understand the concept b/c they had no foundation to draw from.:tinkbll:

I had almost the exact same experience, the nurse said to me "WHAT DEGREE ARE GOING FOR ?" i SAID LVN, AND SHE PAUSED AND SAID, "WELL, WHAT IS YOUR MARKETABILITY ?" i LOOKED AT HER AND SAID, WELL, I AM GOING TO BE WORKING WITTH LTC @ THE SKILLED NURSING HOME WHERE I HAVE BEEN A CNA FOR QUITE SOME TIME AND HOPE TO GO ON TO A RN TO BSN PROGRAM. " SHE SAID," OH, GOOD THAT IS VERY WISE B/C THEY ARE GOING TO DO AWAY WITH LVN'S SOON ANYWAY." WELL, I KNOW THEY ARE NEVER GOING TO BE ABLE TO GET RID OF LVN'S B/C THEY ARE NECCESSARY IN NURSING, WITHOUT LVN'S A RN'S LOAD IS JUST TOO MUCH AND PATIENT CARE IS GOING TO SUFFER AND WE ALREADY KNOW THE OUTCOME OF THAT-DON'T WE !

Thanks for this topic, I feel the same as all those who commented and like the one by Kcochrane the most b/c she said that she is currently in RN school and the difference in the number of clinical hours can't compare with those of her LPN school hours. With that being said it is so sad to hear that we (LPN's) are not EDUCATED ENOUGH! Well, I just graduated in September and I can tell you we were educated enough to make me break out in hives (i was in a fast-paced program) and I did take my schooling very seriously. I guess what I am trying to say is it is very important to think of ALL NURSES AS JUST THAT, A NURSE,:redpinkhe NO MATTER THE LEVEL, WE ARE ALL THERE TO EDUCATE AND HELP THE PT GET BETTER AND TO ASSIST WHERE OUR SCOPE OF PRACTICE ALLOWS. NO MORE, NO LESS. I am however looking into a distance learning LVN to BSN Program though, and I will be very appreciative of all the help I can get on the floor from ALL NURSES THERE TO SUPPORT ME TO DO THE VERY BEST JOB POSSIBLE:)
