  1. I keep some menthol lyptus cough drops in my pocket in a sandwich baggie. They help avoid inhalation of unattractive smells.
  2. I am a new CNA and have had a few patients like this...especially one last night. However I found that a quick silent prayer on my end and a deep breath have helped me deal with these patients. I just try to remember that it's better to be on my side of the bed than theirs.
  3. I was 40 when I started nursing school.
  4. It will be okay....life gives you bumps....and you will find a way to get over the bump. I will be 40 on Monday and start my first semester (again!) in a few weeks. You are never too old. Hang in there....this may be an opportunity to go to a better school or new direction.
  5. As an EMT, we were taught to have the patient position the head in a sniffing position (like you are slightly sniffing a flower). It allows for a little head tilt but not all the way back. Pinch the bridge of the nose until the bleeding stops. Ice compress also helps on the bridge of the nose although it is uncomfortable for children.
  6. I am taking AP2 and Organic Chem as well. I think I am going to get the Org. Chem for Dummies book. The A&P for Dummies book was great and helped me understand some of the topics that the professor covered very quickly.
  7. Congratulations! :yeah::yeah::yeah:
  8. I got my letter today. My prayers are now for all of you to get your acceptance letters asap! Good luck!
  9. I am waiting too and should here in the next 48 hours. My school has rolling admission so I applied late. It's a matter of how many seats are still left. Hopefully we will all hear good news soon!
  10. Congratulations and good luck with your studies!
  11. I am an EMT and we had a homeless person who would frequently have someone call the ambulance. Another tech told me to dab a little vicks on the outside of the nostril and all you will smell is vapor rub. It has worked for me. Good luck!
  12. I am taking AP1 now. I read the dummies book and it is helpful. I also got the coloring books. I just found out I got a 92 on my midterm which is 30% of my grade so I am psyched. Good luck!
  13. Hi! I am also considering an accelerated nursing program for non-nursing graduate looking to get a BSN in Nursing. I am trying to get my sciences out of the way and will see what program I would like to start. I am nervous but you must have faith in yourself and you will do great! Good luck!
  14. My class starts 1/24 and I am using the book by Martin. I am interested in an online study group.
