  1. I am possibly moving to the Milwaukee area. I just graduated an accelerated nursing program and know nothing about Wisconsin. Are there a lot of hospitals that are willing to hire new grads in the area? I want to work as an RN before a GN, so Ill take my Nclex before I get a job. Should I be applying for an RN position now or after I take my Nclex? How is the area in general? Is it safe? Are there a lot of things to do within the city? If anyone could even remotely help me with any of these questions I would appreciate it more then you know. Thank you so much for your time!
  2. You can't really go bad with anywhere around the U of R. A lot of students from both U of R and RIT live throughout the neighborhood so its safe and friendly. Hopefully you found something :)
  3. Where else would you go?? And why was it so bad?
  4. I know there were a few messages about people being accepted but I was just wondering if anyone is def going to be attending the UofR this summer to next may for the accelerated program?

I got accepted and am attending the accelerated BSN program. I have just started looking into housing and have to say that I am pretty pleasently suprised with all the housing that is available. Next to the nursing school and across from the hospital is an area they call, "white coat ghetto" or something liek that. Its called this because all med students and nursing students live there. Its a really nice neighborhood and there is a lot of housing available there. Are you def going to Rochester?
  6. Yea, I think I'm defintely going there. I just have to finalize papers. I've heard such good things about the program that its hard to say no. Are you a nurse/nursing student?
  7. Hey everyone, this is prob going to be directed mostly to psychRN, but I was wondering if anyone knows of any ways to look for apartments/houses in rochester while we are not there? I know Bing U has a like website where people can post their information about outside housing, does U of R have anything like that? What areas would be safest to live in?
  8. I'm graduating with my bachlors this year and most likely going to Rochester in May. I'm done with all my prereqs and now just taking the classes I need to get my bachelors. Chances are pretty high that I'm def going to rochester, I already sent in my deposit but the financial issue is the only thing that may get me. Are you def going?
  9. Did you apply to all the financial awards?? I think we hear about them late march but i really do not know. Are you from Rochester?
  10. and the price?? where are you from? I have looked into the program a lot.. and the UofR is like the 12th nursing school in the nation.. (or something like that..) its an excellent program.
  11. Im applying to an accelerated nursing program now thats in one year. There are prereqs classes as well as other qualifications that you need before you can get into one of these programs. I see it as kinda already completing the first year or so of a traditional program (since most are filled with other core requirments) And its accelerated because were going to be literally doing it all within a year. I heard from people saying that it was a great experience and that they would not have done it any other way. I think the experience that you get from the program really depends on the school that you attend. If you are worried about the program you should look into the program that you are interested in and find out its rankings and see if you can hear anything from any other students who have already done the program. I'm starting my program in the summer and I'm really nervous too.. you just have to keep in mind that in the end you are going to finally be doing what you want to do.
  12. I was in the same boat as you.. I did volunteer at two different hospitals and one nursing home. The experience you get working on the floors and with the nurses is priceless.. Then if you were to apply for a position where medical experience is needed you would talk about all the stuff that you do. Its frutsterating but the more you actually experience in different places the more you build up your resume..and are a lot more impressed with the fact that your volunteering.
  13. Galore, what program and school did you attend?
  14. I actually want to know this info too, did you get accepted to the program??
  15. Im doing an accelerated nursing program for non nursing majors.. so basically I need to get all my prereqs and have a bachlors in a field other than nursing.
