i'm currently contemplating on getting into graduate school. i have incurred more than a year of experience and it just dawned on me that, in the situation where i am at right now is echoing tautology and i see no advancement for my career in the near future unless i have been working for at least 10 years in doing the same thing all over again. right now, i feel like i have this epiphany similar to what priest have, like its their calling, as for me a deep insight of my future. i'd like to be the one who makes the rounds, doing administrative work and still keeping the area in tight ship. plus i get to be the boss is a welcome perquisite. and then in reality, just like suzy orman always ask, "can i afford it?" i'm considering new york (where else should i venture? but in the land where all dreams are made of, and whose big lights will inspire you--enough with that) since i'll be an international student and my chances are slim, F-1, should i enroll in ivy league or schools with namesakes just for sake that its credible, or the consular will be able to see right past through my decorated accomplishments and letter of eligibilty for issuance of said visa that i truly want it and that it will benefit me and my future employer here or abroad (more like the UN, that is my penultimate task to be achieved right next to fulfilling my personal wishes of course). Or should i just settle for state run universities or schools whose just gaining popularity in the rankings (e.g. "the hottest schools in america") btw, why UN you might ask? i seek to gain MPA or MPH in health policy. thanks!

I too had the same boat you are in now, waiting for something important as your future can be painstakingly grueling and knowing that you can't do anything about it other than hitting the refresh button hoping there's a new correspondence from cgfns regarding the status of your CVS. Believe it when they said they have sent the request for your transcripts to your school and focus on bugging your registrar to sort those compounded mails on their desk. It worked for me and it might turn out favorable for you as well. by the way when was the last request for TOR sent by CGFNS? average mailing delivery last for a month at the very least before it gets delivered to the recipient. in case your wondering what happened to me, the CVS was done smoothly albeit it ate half of my entire year, but what caught me by surprise was that the state board sent me a snail mail asking for another set of application, reason was they never got mine except for the payment which was in fact included in my application that was mailed to them locally (had to course it through a relative since they require a cheque in US currency) and the killer part was that the mail got stuck in my building admin for 5 months (because they were too lazy to hand important delicate mails with sender addresses hailing overseas!) and so as a shock response to the situation, what i did was assemble the required application in one day and had it coursed through DHL for hasty delivery. Then come december, christmas came in early for me as i had just received a letter from them that i am now eligible to sit in the NCLEX. So the entire process roughly took 15 months from my lifespan.

i have, in fact i first applied to NY BON by following the instructions on the link above. but after a month, i knew that i had to also lodge an application for CVS, during the period i was waiting for CVS to complete, i received a letter from NY BON that, they have received my application and that they are waiting for the requirements to be completed. should i let someone give them a call and personally inquire the status of my application? do they also entertain email inquiries? also, should i take the now the required child abuse coursework exam for health care workers? any inputs where i can take it online? thanks

hi, i'd like to hear your suggestions on what i probably should do. i have received a letter from CGFNS regarding my CVS stating that they have submitted to New York my documents. where can i inquire regarding the status of my application? contact information of State Board of Nursing in NY would be really helpful. when should i take the required the exam for Health Care workers regarding Child abuse? any suggestions where to take this online? thanks.

looks like i'm not the only one, albeit he has a different story to mine but i think its high time that slmc should look up into this. by the way i haven't been to st. luke's. i'm still figuring a right approach in addressing my concerns. i might just give them a call rather than harass everyone at the hr. haha!

whoa! how much longer will it take me to get that att after cgfns has finished gathering the documents and forward it to the state board of NY? for new passers i mean. i filed mine september 08. truth is, i didn't know that there was a cvs requirement from the beginning. i just sent my papers to a relative and forwarded it with the payment to opnysed and hoped for the best. silly ehh??? so thinking i had the jumpstart on my application i quickly enrolled at a review center, from there my head started rolling, after being acquainted i asked them how are their status, and told me that it took her almost a year to get her att, so i asked the process, and then it hit me that i forgot to read the fine print below the instructions from opnysed. another thing is that i have relatives who are nurses 2 are staff and another is top management position, and yet no one knew it was a requirement already.

yup, best option is arrange with a local bank a check payable to (in my case) state board of new york and cgfns for their credential validation service. but it is best and a lot faster if you'll facilitate it with a relative lending you her card. you get instant confirmation from cgfns (CVS service) plus correspondence with them online is efficient, which you need since applying for NY takes time to process.

6 months is still better than having none at all. which gives u you an edge over the others when you move on to other hospitals. exam results are out! goodluck to all those who passed!

afaik, there are only three certificates being given upon request from prc. that is, certificate of board rating, passing and for placers or those who top the board exam. for those, there is an express. if your willing to fork out php 200. just file the request before 9am and get the certificate after lunch or just ask what time will it be released. i forgot which window it will be filed but best to ask the information desk inside prc. hth

unfortunately, there is none. but what you can do is follow-up with them. you can head over to their office third floor lung center of the philippines QC. process? it depends are you manila based? if so, it won't take too long. afaik, provincial processing takes a lot longer than the latter. much like waiting for your professional license.

hi everyone... what method of correspondence did you get from st. luke's? weeks after i passed my application, my phone got stolen which is the number i indicated on my resume. sadly, my contact info on my cv only has my mobile and email. i was hoping to get an email from them but none as of now. until earlier today, (adding insult to injury) my friend who got a notice for initial interview today SAW MY NAME on the log-in list for initial interview... can i rectify this (through follow-up) or just file another cv to them? thanks
