3 males out of a class of 30, anyone else feel overpowered?
Our class started the "MAN-CLAN". Maybe we should start chapters?

what are the guys' reasons to become a nurse?
Not to be too sentimental, but I chose nursing because I wanted to minister to patients. I got married and then left the service. I tried aviation and other jobs, but found no satisfaction. My wife and I went to some meetings and then we were faced with the great controversy of our lives. We chose to be baptized and serve the Lord. I soon went to a mission dental school and learned how to do remote restoration of teeth. I then went to Guatemala with a dentist friend relieved massive amounts of pain by pulling teeth. It was only a matter of time before I realized that I can pull teeth any day, but what about adding some medical training to my aviation. My father was a CRNA and my mother an RN. So, the choice was easy and now I have 6 months left before my BSN is complete. I look forward to having a decent income and pursuing my CRNA in a couple of years. I appreciate having a career that allows me financial compensation and the ability to work with others in need.

Need your support guys.........I Feel like a real pansy!!
Word from an ex-hothead...you did well and chose to act not react! I applaud you and think that your idea of pansy will be evermore tested here in just the next couple months if it's not reshaped. My idea of self has changed and continues to change as I have pervaded this occupation. Best of luck to you and remember that we need you! Here's to the MURSES (male + nurse= MURSE!)

Tall scrubs? What about fanny packs?
Three pair of scrub pants.....KIA in just three months. I am 6' 5" and look as if I believe Noah was telling the truth in regards to a flood. The problem is the length, but also the crotch! I swing my leg over my bike to ride home and then spend the next ten minutes trying to not be indecent while pedaling my heart out...not to mention the gusts! There is a clothing company that I have thought of petitioning. Prana makes rock climbing clothes, of which I do a little, and they have a special piece of fabric sown in the crotch to allow more movement. Just some thoughts as I wore these as my scrub pants this past summer. Take it for what it's worth.

Direct entry CRNA programs
I have sat down with two directors of programs (1 for CRNA and 1 for FNP) and they have shared that RN's with years of experience are not as likely to do as well academically as a fresh "boot camp" (right out of a program). But, never the less it needs to be stated that this is in reference to academics, not solid, clinical experience, of which there is no replacement.
