  1. Bob_N_VA The website for Riversdie states they have class M-F 6 am to 430. Do you actually stay until 430 everyday? How much study time have you had to spend in the evenings? I am just think about how the communte home would be for me, study time and going to bed early to be back at 6.
  2. thanks Bob, I am seriously considering Riverside. I live in Norfolk, so driving across bridge and through tunnel can be a issue but it is actually the closest to my home. The day program has a 6 am start time so that would be okay since there will not be traffic, I just worry what the communte home would be like. Have you found the program to be organized? From what I hear from students at TCC they are saying the admission process at TCC is crazy. The staff doesn't seem to be helpful. I know several people that have graduated from Sentara's program was diploma but not since it switched to a BA program. I have attended their open house to get information as well as TCC's. Does Riverside have an open house? I read on their website you could call, so I will have to go check them out. thanks again for your input.
  3. I am starting again to take classes to get into a nursing program. I am currently looking at TCC and Sentara, but even considering Riverside in Newport News. Does anyone in currently attend this programs? Or is anyone about to start? I am trying to find out for info. about admission? How are the wait times currently? How the programs are going? etc... Thanks
  4. that's great to know. I don't mind working with others but when they don't participate in a resonable time, it drives me insane.
  5. Kelly* I have heard from many people the professor that does online through Norfolk is great for 142. I had her for Human Biology 100 and it was a good course. She is informative. I understand that your lab has to be at the same campus. That has been my issue with Norfolk becasue other than the one professor no other professors have been recommended for evening Labs. I don't know about the professors for daytime. RangerJoe, Thanks for all your input. I have registered and hopefully I have made the right decisions. I am ready for the hard work and actually I love the studying. Crazy but I really enjoy it. Thanks again
  6. I have registered to take A P 1 in the spring and like some of you am in my 40s. I have not had Chemistry. At the local CC I do not have to have chemistry if I can succeed in AP 1 AP 2 and Micro. My question to you all is do you think it would be better if I take Chemistry before these classes?
  7. Okay, so I see the online professor. I was trying not to do the online lecture. I signed up for Wednesday lecture on the TCC Chesapeake campus and Thursday Lab with a different professor. Wish I could see if you know either of them. I am going to send you a PM and email again. and see what you think. They were both recommended. Seems everyone has their opinions of who is good. With an online lecture, how did you think it was as far as understanding everything. I have taken other online classes and had not problem. I just get frustrated with the group projects and other people that dont contribute. I may switch and try it the online class. It would save me a night of driving out to campus. Thanks again
  8. For those who have taken online Lecture, how did you do lab? Just pick anyone or the same professor?
  9. thanks, its good to see that it is possible to take it online successfully.
  10. Has anyone taken the TCC A & P bio 141 online? The Norfolk campus doesn't seem to have a good class choice for me. The online professor is highly recommended. thanks
  11. Congratulations to all that have been accepted!! I am currently taking classes at TCC and have decided to go into nursing. I need AP 1 & 2 and micro. along with the sdv 101 then I can apply. I have a question for you that have taken these classes. Did any of you try to take the AP 1 online and lab at campus? And /or did you find that one campus was better than another with these classes?
  12. MCI

turtlesrus replied to dynex's topic in Virginia Nursing
Can you give me some information about the MCI RN program? How long is the program? What pre requisites did you need to start? Are you at the VB MCI? Do you know if their RN program in accredited? Any information you have would be great. Thanks for your information
  13. what are the prerequis for the MCI RN program?
  14. I will have to send you a private message about the professors at TCC, you are not suppose to mention them by name on here (I made that mistake already and received a little message reminder that it was against the rules of the forum). Cyn
  15. What is everyones thoughts on taking A & P online? How many have taking the class this way? or is it absolutely a class that should be taken face to face! I know the lab portion is in the lab but the actual lecture I am considering taking online in the fall and needs some input Thanks
  16. My professor is listed as being on the Norfolk, Campus and no I haven't looked at the Yahoo Site yet.
  17. this rate my professor site is interesting! I am worried though, the A & P professor for my fall class only has two ratings/comments and they are both bad! It is the only class I can take this semester due to my work schedule. I guess I will have to see what the first week brings and drop it if she seems too bad.
  18. I am with you, I am enrolled for it this fall also. I talked to a lady who just finished it at TCC this spring and summer and she said it just takes a lot of studying. She said she spend alot of time in the lab over and over. Her advice was to not take any other class along with A & P. I unfortunately can't do that so I will just have to work extra hard.
  19. hoping 2 nurse, I am going to set my goals the same as you it seems, I am going to apply to TCC next year and yet continue working toward Sentara. If I get accepted I will have to see where I am at financially, I am not going to work while attending nursing school so I have to be ready. I am planning on taking 2 courses each semester including summers, if I don't go to TCC it will be the Sept 1, 2011 deadline at Sentara for the school and then proceed from their with the CNA course and their online Nursing courses. Right now, the only parts I haven't quite figured is the sciences. Somewhere I am going to slid in Chem 01 at TCC since I have never had any chemistry. Either this semester or next probably. Yes, and the SDV 101 just in case. We ready do seem to be on the same path. Meriwhen, there were quite a few RN's looking at the program when I went. They were apply that day and had all their transcripts and records. Good Luck Cyn
  20. nccatim, can you give me more information about their program? What prerequisites did you have to have to start? what do you know about their clinicals? like where are they done and how many hours are their over the 15 month period?
  21. I just want to have the strongest background possible. My professor from Human Anatomy said the more science background you have the better you should do. But you can do it with just the Human Anatomy to A/P I & II then on to Micro if you are a studier and researcher. If an area comes up that you are not familiar with you may have to do research to understand it. She said some students come in with having had all the courses and can't remember what they learned anyway.
  22. I registered to take A P I in Norfolk, and Math 4 online this semester. The only classes I have already are ENg 111 and Psy 201 so I have a long way to go also. I have to take Clg Alg next semester though at sentara she said you maybe be able to skip clg alg and go to statistics, I don't know though. Since all this talk about chem, i may try to take chem 1 this fall on saturdays in chesapeake. That will be quite a ride for me from Norfolk but it maybe worth it. I looked for the fine arts at TCC yestserday also and it seems the course numbers she gave are not the same, I am not going to take fine arts or the history till the very end since you can start without them and you have until the end of nursing school to complete them. I will take all the suggestions, ideas and advice and decide what to do. I want to take them in the best sequence but I am just confused with conflicting suggestions. Cyn
  23. i am confused bout which to take, I found this on tcc's website Biology Department, Portsmouth Campus at TCC The Biology Department offers introductory and advanced courses for Science majors and courses, which fulfill pre-requisities for Nursing and the Health Professions. We also offer courses, which fulfill a Science elective for non-Science majors. Courses Official Course Descriptions: Biology Biology 01: Developmental Biology Biology 100: Human Biology Biology 101: General Biology I Lecture and Lab Biology 102: General Biology II Lecture and Lab Biology 141: Human Anatomy and Physiology I Lecture and Lab Biology 142: Human Anatomy and Physiology II Lecture and Lab Biology 150: Microbiology Lecture and Lab Recommended Sequence of Courses Biology 01- No previous Science or Biology background required Biology 100- Students should have completed high school Biology within the past 5-7 years. Biology 101-Students should place into English 111 or are currently taking English 111 in order to register for Biology 101. Students should also complete or have tested out of all developmental Math courses prior to registering for Bio 101. Biology 102- Successful completion of Biology 101 Biology 141- Successful completion of Biology 01, 100 or 101 prior to registering for Biology 141. Biology 142- Successful completion of Biology 141 Biology 150-Successful completion of Biology 01, 100 or 101 Additional Biology Electives- Faculty Approval Of course this is only Biology not Chem I am worried about taking A & P I & II without regular Biology ( only Human biology, Bio 100) or Chem. if you look at curriculum sheets College Chem comes after all the Biology including Mirco BeachRobyn, I heard there was an excellent teacher at the Chesapeake campus Mattos Or something like that, But it is hard to get the class because it fills quickly. All taking A P I at TCC this fall keep in touch, I am taking it also, Are you trying for nursing also? Lightnoise, Do you think the Chem 1 not college chem is good before micro biology?
  24. hoping2nurse, Which chem have you taken or are you going to take other than Clg Chem? I haven't had any yet. Cyn
  25. Since you mentioned the Chem before Micro, I have to tell you that I saw that was recommended also. When I went to an open house at the Community College, the speaker for the program said even though its recommended you can do it without taking Chem. So I am trying to plan out these science classes since I am just beginning. Thanks for you inuput Cyn
