Deaconess College
Cheri, That would be great! I contacted Deaconess trying to get the names or at least have one of the Washington State students contact me, but wasn't able to get anyone's name, wondering if Deaconess has a policy about giving out other student's names and email address, in any case I wasn't able to get anyone's name from there. It's jus so depressing that I have waited from April until now to get into this program ( just missed the last start) and now I have to re think my whole plan about becoming a nurse. I can see why Washington state wouldn't accept graduates from other online prgrams because they don't have a clinical portion to their program but Deaconess ! Oh, Well it would be nice to find out what the other students from Washington state know or have found out. thanks again

Deaconess College
Just thought I would drop a line and see what everyone else has heard or knows. I had been waiting for a reply from Deaconess school of Nursing about the January Start. Frist I am told I need to get my clinical information gethered and mail or email it to clinical instructor for the online course. Then at the end of Aug I get a call from one of the advisors telling me that Deaconess will not be offer this program to anyone from WA state. They said that WA doesn't approve of their program. And they just got email about it. Before I even started to seriously consider Deaconess I called WA BON, in talking to the BON in WA I was told as long as the clinical portion of the program meet their requirements they didn't see a problem, I sent them as much information as I could and the reply back seem positive to me. I guess there is another online nursing program and it doesn't offer a clinical portion so WA BON doesn't approve that program, they just wanted to make sure I understood that any program I choice must meet their requirements re: clinicals. I am not sure if anyone has heard from Deaconess if they have been accepted for the Jan start for 06 but it is really disappointing that they would wait so long to let me know, so not I feel really stuck and at a loss to what I am going to do! Would like to know if anyone else has heard Deaconess doing this to anyone else or if they know might have information on what is really going on. I have another friend from WA who is also hoping to do Deaconess she hasn't heard anything from them yet, go figure! I am so depressed right now, my options have been cut to almost nothing now.

Anyone heard from Deaconess about summer start admissions?
Has anyone hear any thing new relating to the new start or the adding of 20 extra students? Still waiting to get some kind of reply back from Deaconess admission one way or the other if I have made for the next time or if I didn't why and what I have to do? Those that applied has everyone heard back yet? Is this type of reaction typical for deaconess( meaning if you make it you find out and if you don't, you don't every know)?

Anyone heard from Deaconess about summer start admissions?
thanks for the encouragement, i didn't let them know that i had a place in mind for my clinicials, however i was pretty sure i would be able to do it there, but i had not be given the ok.i wasn't sure just how to approach the hospital. this a hospital that allows alot of other medical and nursing students to do their clinicals there, so i don't think there will be a big problem, just developing or puting a packet together to present to them and knowing who to give it to is where i am right now. i wasn't sure if i should approach the hospital before i got accept or not, i guess it wouldn't be a bad idea to give them a heads up and and at least get their approval ! i will try my best to be patient and wait until i hear back from deaconess. i am so excited though,, and afraid if i don't get in this time, will i be able to get in the next time? thanks for the feedback and help

Anyone heard from Deaconess about summer start admissions?
congratulations to those that made the program for the next term I unfortunately didn't make it. What is more disappointing is when I called on the 15th the response I got back was they were still evaluating and and would get back to me around the 18th, it is two days later and I heard nothing, knowone has responded on this site either since Friday so I don't really know what is going on. I don't know why I wasn't accepted or if I should apply again or when to apply. Some one from this site emailed me just the other day and said they don't accept anyone from the Northwest states(which is where I am from) I sure would like to know if that was the truth or not. If there is anyone else out there that is still waiting for a call or a reply drop me a line. Or if anyone has any suggest or what I should do I really want to attend Deacones but I feel I am between a rock and a hard spot right now. thanks

clincial hours for Deaconess students
how many clincial hours are required for each semster for student doing the online course from Deaconess. I realize you don't start your clincials till the 2nd semster so how many hours are there totally and how many each semster. ( is this posted somewhere on their site, I have covered that site several times and keep missing it) I also have a question about the semsters. if Summer startes in May and then fall starts in August does this mean summer isn't for students just starting out? If anyone could help me with this question I would appreicate it.

Studying CPNE In WA State
You are correct that only LPN can test in WA there is a way around their laws, and I am trying to find out exact what that is and how it is done. I am also looking for any CMA's from WA that have gone through Excelsior , maybe they could give me some pointers. I work with a RN that when throug excelsior many years ago before they agreed to let LPN test she said something about taking the NCLEX and the boards in another state and then working there for 200 hours and then I could transfer to WA but I am not sure that is correct. I have just started I have just got done with NC 1 and I am starting to do NC 2 but I don't know where to take the exam in WA or how to contact anyone. I need to take the test during the week if I can but don't know if that is possible. Where do/did you take the exams? I am far behind you but it would be nice to get together and support each other. email me with your address and if you have instant message we could chat now and then also. I did call the board but they weren't very supportive. I am still going ahead, I am hoping by the time I done with the NC1-7 and ready to do the cpne there will have been some changes in WA.

WA State and Deaconess
I am planning to attend Deaconess School of nursing, just sent my paper work in and hoping to get in Jan 2005, I am also a CMA not a LPN and was wondering if there are any others out there that are from Washington state that are attending deaconess school of nursng now ( that are not a LPN already)? Would like to know if you have checked into the whether or not WA state will accepts Deaconess School of nursing or not. And if you know whether or not you can take your NCLEX here in WA state or do you have to take it at Deaconess.I have been really excited about this school, like the way you are able to do your clinicals at a site of your choice. But I must say I am very concerned that after all that I have been through I won't be able to work in WA state because if the requlations of WA state.I had thought of doing the excelsior program, but WA won't acknowledge this program onless you were a LPN when you started this program( believe this is correct). My last question is does anyone have any advice or at least can you tell me how to get around the laws of Washington state if you have graduated from a school like Deaconess or Excelsior. Would appreaciate any input or information that anyone can give me.

nursing theory at home clinicals in hosptial site
I am looking for some options for nursing school I live in Washington State. I have had a very hard time in getting through the local nursing program . I have been through 2 times already both times I have failed to acquirethe 80% ( I have gotten 79.3 the first time and 79.2 this last time) I have test anxiety really bad and I just recently found out that I have dyslexia. I do really well in my clnicals and pass each time with flying colors in my clinicals. If you could used both Clinical and theory combined I would still be in the program, My questions is does anyone know of any other route to go to acquire my LPN to RN? Does any one know any place in this state where I can maybe challegene, the theory portion, or take the theory portion online or through a home study program and then do the clinical portion at the local hospital? Or maybe a school of nursing that uses both the theory and clinical to give a end of the quarter grade( and not use just the theory portion)? I have been a CNA for over 16 years and have worked a ICU/CCU for the past 6 while also working part-time as a Unit Clerk. I also have my CMA, and have my AA degree as well. I am very experienced in the medical field. I hate the thought of throughing all my education ( pre recq and co-recq )down the drain, or not being able to accquire my nursing; there has got to be so way for someone like me to still be able to get my LPN and then return back to school to finish getting my RN. Any information or help you can give would greatly be appreacited. Thank you
