  1. New nurse here, graduated May 9, 2011 and now I am in a long term acute care. It's a "specialty hospital". I HATE it!! I have been on the unit 3 weeks, 3 12's and I feel like my employer wants more from me. I'm in my mid 40's and I'm feeling like I made a huge mistake going to nursing school. I love people, love taking care of my patients, etc., but the paper work, the meds, the doctors, etc. is too much for me. There is another new grad working with me and she really likes it. I have to drag myself to work. I so want to quit!! Yesterday I had 3 pts. 2 on vents. I just think I'm not cut out for this. Is there any field that someone can recommend to me to try that is not so high streesed? I don't want easy, but I do want to keep my patients safe.
  2. Hi everyone, I have pod 12. I am so nervous!!! I still need to get my patch, books, and my Hep B (2nd) shot done. Wanted to say hi to everyone, and good luck.
  3. I got my happy letter today! Did anyone else out there get one? Do we know the GPA cut-off? We still have to wait another month to find out our classes. Well, good luck to everyone!!
  4. Sorry, I didn't explain well enough, lack of sleep, I guess:yawn: I applied for Fall 08, and was an alternate for that, but because they didn't have an opening, I was bumped to the Spring of 09. So, if you get a semi-happy letter stating that you are an alternate, not to worry, this means you are in the next time around for sure. It was a real bummer, because my GPA was a 3.61, so I thought I was in the clear, but far from it. The lowest was 3.7. I would have never dreamed it would be that high. I believe that there is a reaons for everything, and I'm sure there is a good reason I had to wait. Again, good luck to all. :wink2:
  5. Hi everyone, I'm an alternate for the Spring of 09, and I'm still waiting for my letter too. They say even though I am in for sure, I will still get a letter. I wanted to wish everyone good luck.:nuke:
  6. hi everyone. wanted to say hi, i'm new to this board. i applied for the fall of 08 and was accepted as an alternate. i didn't get a spot, so i'm in for sure in januray. i still haven't gotten my letter (they say i'm going to get another "happy" letter). my letter wasn't so happy, but getting in for jan is better than not at all. for the fall of 08, the lowest gpa was 3.70. there were 387 that applied. we got our letters within 30 days of the last application meeting. thought i would let everyone know. good luck to all!
