  1. Just keep looking for postings usually around December/ January and June/ July because this is when the extern and interns graduate so there are openings.
  2. I got the job!! Its on the geriatric floor I am very excited just wondering what do I need to brush up on, any pointers would be appreciated this is a area that I have always wanted to be in and I want to make the best of this opportunity. Also if I can get a e-mentor of some sort that can help me transition and with advice that would be really great, I know there is a lot of experience of this forum. Thank you
  3. Well long story short I has two interviews for extern positions and I got the dates confused so I missed one and HFHS called me and I made it for that one Wednesday. So I am where you are at starting on the 15th in the mental health dep. I am so happy because I asked for this area and I got it. I go tomorrow for a meeting. Then the 15th with orientation.
  4. Well I want to thank everyone for your response. I got a call today and got a offer for a position in the mental health department exactly were I wanted to be. I am very happy and I finally get to do what I always wanted.
  5. Congrats, I got mine also, what department are you going to do your externship in? When do you start?
  6. Well interview went well hopefully here something soon.
  7. I have just finished a interview for a nurse extern position and expressed my interest of doing it for Psych. I have allows been interested in Behavioral health, and Neuroscience. I was just wondering if there anything I could do to get ready for this position? Any advice someone could give because after this externship is over I plan on staying in this department and one day becoming a DNP in mental health. Thanks
  8. Good luck RN2Be, I am very nervous also. We will get though it and hopefully get these positions. If not this time we can come back on here and help each other with what they were asking and looking for to help with future interviews. Let me know how it goes tomorrow.
  9. I have one on Wednesday but it is not for Henry Ford, I just have a classmate that also has a interview there on Monday. She thinks that's how it will go since it is so short of an interview. If I hear anything else I will let you know. I am just curious also because I never had one of these interviews either.
  10. Someone was saying they ask about how you would handle situations with co workers, just look at letters, and meet you. Please come back on Monday and let me know how it went and what they asked you.
  11. I have a letter from my last med/surg clinical instructor that is great. I am trying to get another one before Wednesday but it is hard during summer. I am feeling better about the interview I am getting my portfolio together but I heard some poeple say they dont even look at them but at least I will have it just in case. I will post back on here Wednesday to let everyone know how it went and if it does not work out at least I got my first interview out of the way and can prepare better for the next one.
  12. Thanks for your help, I started working at Ford Motor Company right after High school and I worked there for 9 years then took a buy out. I did not have a interview for that job, so I am just really nervous and especially when they said a panel of people.
  13. Hello, Well I finally got a interview after about 60 applications! It is for a Nurse extern position which is great because I am going into my last semester of my nursing program and the hours are great just 32/hr a month. They said it will be about 15 minutes long in front of a panel of people. I am so nervous I have never been interviewed. What can I do to get more comfortable/confident? What questions will the ask? Any advice would be appreciated thank you.
  14. Hello, I am very interested in moving to New mexico currently I am in Michigan and the job market is terrible. How is it here? I have several questions, because it will be hard to go down there and see for myself while I am in my last semester of nursing school. How is the job market here not just for nusing but just the market itself? I would like to know a nice area for my husband and myself and wonder how diverse culturally this State is? This is very important for me and its hard to ask when looking for a home. What is the median home range for these nice areas and how does it compare to a entry level nurses pay? Thank you for your help I know its a lot of questions but I am really considering moving and would like to get as much information as possible.
  15. There is hope I think 35 out of 46 made it out last time so people make it out. Really when it comes to Cardiac and the rest of the chapters it really does not matter what book you read because of how she words the questions Brunners is easier to read than Iggy for some people thats all. Like I said earlier it is not knowledge based questions so what book does not matter it is just what would you do if this happened. So in general it would be like, what would you do if someone B/P is to high or to low this answer does not change depending on what book you read. So the book is not important in this class.
