I had a problem paying my tuition online too. Mine was due 1/1/09 so I went today to pay it and I was told by financial aid that because I missed a deadline they wouldn't my classes so I needed to pay for it before the due date. So when I went online to pay it said I had either a zero balance or my financial aid was larger than the balance due. I didn't want to take any chances so what I did to make sure I paid it was I had to use the credit card one and force the payment even though it didn't show a balance. I wouldn't take any chances because our nursing secretary told us that we will be dropped if it's not paid. So I would try again or when you get the error make to print it out to show proof that you at least tried and then be on the phone or in person on the 5th first thing in the morning. Good Luck!!

Wow! I didn't realize they took that option away. I don't work and my husband does so we just depended on the fact that if we are financially hurting I could stop after block II to work as an LPN. I'll have to check with my school to see what options are available.

It's kind of scary seeing the posts about new grads not finding jobs. I start the program in January. From what I've been told from other nurses is to pick wisely, if possible, when you're doing block 4 what department you're in and if you do a really good job they should hire you after you graduate. Also if you can get into a hospital beforehand like their contracts they offer. Oh and don't wait until you're done with NCLEX to apply for jobs, start in block 4. One thing that nurses have usually been able to fall back on is the temporary agencies but now a lot of hospitals aren't accepting registries. I know for me I don't need the benefits cause I receive my husbands and I just always assumed I could do registry to make more money in the beginning. Well good luck to everyone!

Every school through the MCC is different on the specifics you have to buy. I am attending GCC weekend program so this is what I've had to pay or been told: Tuition - $865 (I didn't sign up for optionals) Books - $600 (Total includes all the required plus an optional medical dictionary for $30) Stethoscope- You can use your own or buy wherever - they recommend Littman brand - they sold them for $40 and $70 at the school, online they're about $100 - I'm borrowing my friends Shoes- You can buy your own from wherever just need to be completely white (and clean) Scrubs- You have to buy through their vendor - Apparel Pro in Tempe - tops and bottoms are about $20 each - since I'm only going two days I need two sets - different schools depend on whether you have to wear in lab and lecture or just at clinicals Drug screening - I was told about $60 Nursing bag - I was told anywhere from $185 to $285 - have to buy from school but at GCC this bag is good through all 4 blocks - I Know at PC its about $60 you have to buy each block Immunizations - not sure my insurance paid for mine Second hand watch - whatever you buy Hope this helps - I was surprised with a lot of these. I had to ask my instructor exactly what we need to buy or if there is any other expenses we had to pay for. They told me block 1 is the most expensive. I hope they don't spring any others at me. I figure about $2000 for block 1 not including the medical, immunizations, CPR, and Fingerprint. So I would start buying some of the items you can now so it's not such a huge blow at once. I bought my books early so I didn't have that expense plus tuition.

My friend's mom is graduating in May and she is looking at maybe going to Las Vegas for work. She wants to stay in Kingman and supposedly they are supposed to open up a new medical facility in Kingman otherwise she's going to just commute to Vegas. Just don't give up and keep on it. Good Luck!

I'm getting a little nervous now. I've done all my health checklist stuff and financial aid has been a problem because I'm switching from Paradise Valley to Glendale but I think I finally got it fixed. I talked to the bookstore at GCC and they said Monday they should have the big packet of books in. I told my husband he's gonna have to go with me to help me carry all of them. I'm just trying to get all my finals for this semester over with so I can focus on the nursing program and maybe relax a little before we start. I have a friend that's in Phoenix's accelerated program and she told me it's all about organizing your time. We're both stay at home moms with kids so she said it's good to get study groups together and try to do homework and studying away from home. Well I can't wait to get started. I was just place into GCC's weekend part time program and start in jan 09. My best friend went there a few years ago but only did block 1 and then decided to pursue a different career (nursing isnt for everyone luckily she found it out soon). She is very smart and very disciplined but said it was hard. She also was a stay at home mom and said it was hard to juggle kids and time to get studying done. I also am a stay at home mom and chose this program because my husband's work hours prevent me from doing the full time option. This way I only have to worry about someone taking kids to school on Friday and someone watching them on Saturdays. I hope it works out. I've also heard good things about Gateway's part time option. It's Wednesday and Thursday night for class and then you do clinicals on either Friday or Saturday. I have talked to a bunch of people that have either gone through school or currently attending all the different scheduling options. It comes down to what your physical schedule will allow. Part time program does not suggest its part time at all. All the different programs are going to be time consuming and hard. It's just a matter of finding which schedule fits your schedule and be prepared to work hard.

Hi, I finally got placed into Glendale's part time weekend program. I was wondering if there is anyone that can give me any advice for this program or if anyone here is going to start in spring also. I would love to start communicating with people that will be in my class. I would also love to hear from students that have attended or currently attend the program and their thoughts or advice. I applied in March of 07 and because of scheduling was only able to do Glendale's part time program. I am glad I am finally going to start in January. Good luck to everyone out there. Jen
