Looking for LPN school in Michigan
Yeah I decided against it. I didn't realize how far the drive was. I wasn't impressed with the staff either. The cost is wayyy too much also. The loans would of never covered it. I do not get grants.

So when you submit it, how long do you have to wait until you find out? Did they tell you?

Ok cool Katie. No, I don't work. My husband does. I don't want to scare you about Baker but I don't want people to go through what I went through. It was pretty bad. I think you are making a smart decision by going to this other school based on what that med assistant told me and my previous experience at Baker. I am going there soon. I can't wait to know all the details. What is the process at Everest? You went there and did you have to write an essay on why you want to be an L.P.N. and send it to them? Or did you write it there right then? What else do they do to decide whether or not you will be accepted into their program? I think the lady I spoke with Ms. Ways said they look at your previous colleges grades. Which mine should be fine A's and B's not good enough for Baker though. Also how many students do they let into the program they have? I know once you're in you're in and that's it, right? You start classes and clinical's the second week I heard.

I really don't care about the cost. It is worth being happy and not stressed out as I call the "Baker experience." Plus, you can be done in 11 months. I have never been one to compete and I don't like the drama at BAKER. I care for people and the way I have seen these Baker students in action shows me that I wouldn't let them anywhere near me if I was in a hospital or my worst enemy(which I don't have one but if I did). They are in it because they want money. Not because they genuinely want to help and care for people. It is a job that is in demand and all they see is dollar bills. Pretty scary that is our future health care workers. I never heard of Everest before the other day when my Gyno's Med Assistant told me she went there. Have you been there to speak with them yet?

Katie what program are you in at Baker? The R. N. right? Which Baker do you attend? Why don't you think you would make it into the Everest program?

Information on Everest institute, GOOD OR BAD!
Yes, they are both a lot. I would rather have a L.P.N. in 11 months though then have to deal with the stressed out, & catty students at Baker. Plus Baker's program is way longer (3 years, full time). People who go to Baker don't even get in the program if they have a 3.85-4.0 gpa. The admissions people should tell us that when we enroll. We shouldn't be hearing it from Advisors a year later. After we have taken all the pre-req's and then were told to enroll in another one of their programs. People get stuck there doing something they didn't intend on doing. It is a major let down to the student and to the family of the student. I personally feel like if I don't become a nurse now I'll be letting my family down and that pretty sad because they are already proud of me anyways and they would never be let down. The school teaches ethics and morals it's too bad they don't follow their own rules. Many of them do this and it isn't right. They should have a pre-test that will show if a student is even going to be close at passing the Pre=Req's and then if they aren't they should be directed to a program that better suits them. Just a thought. My little sister went to BAKER to sign up before we knew the latest news of having to get all A's basically. She is signed up and enrolled in classes and they DID NOT say one word to her about maintaining certain grades. She is a first time college student. I mean come on. She is also a single mother of two little girls. How could you deceive a young struggling MI mother? I guess anything for money right? Then I asked my academic adviser if I had a better chance of getting in the RAD tech program with my A's and B's and I was told "NO." Even though in the handbook and even on Baker's online website it says you must maintain a C+ average per classes for RAD TECH. I mentioned this and the academic adviser told me this information was "NOT" correct. She said "that needs to be changed," even though it's a brand new book. She then proceeded to coax me into going to a 2 yr Medical Assistant Program. Yea ok, why would I do that when I can go to Everest's Medical Assistant program and be done in 8 months. That makes a ton of sense to do Bakers program. 2 years and that includes my classes I already have so it would have been a longer program. BIG JOKE!! How are we and the government letting these schools get away with this? This is not ethical at all. Nor is it moral in any way at all. Thanks for listening. Oh and btw my sister and I have meetings at other schools. My sister will not be attending Baker as a first time student and I will not waste any more money on them either. Before we agree to anything with another school we will be getting everything in writing this time. Information on Everest institute, GOOD OR BAD!
The medical assistant at my gyno's office told me about Everest and said it was a good school. She went there. She is a great medical assistant. She knows what she is talking about ... she is very patient ... answers all of my questions.. she cares... and she is very nice. I am switching from Baker College's nursing program (Clinton Township) to Everest. At least they don't accept people and then deny them like Baker does to make money off us.

The university of Phoenix has a bridge program as well and I think that you can do it online. I won't give Baker another dime. I am not bitter but I just feel I should have been told you need all A's to start with. Really that is the case. I have heard ppl with 4.0 haven't even got in the program. That is sad. Our families and husbands are so proud of us and then after going through the classes and studying so hard you get the biggest let down. That is not right. Thank you very much for the loan info at Everest. I am going to meet them in a couple weeks and I am dropping my online summer classes at Baker that start soon.

Wow see I am glad that I am thinking about this now. It really just doesn't make sense to me to give Baker College my hard earned money when I feel like they deceived me. You did a great job with your 3.85!! They should be turning people away instead of letting more ppl in the program and giving them false hope. Obviously they cannot supply the students with a full education. Why take the money to begin with and make everyone stress out about getting all A's? The women are so mean at horrible to each other, and it's the older students that act like this. The ones that look honest like they would be your Aunt or Mother. I had a horrible experience at Baker College. One that was too devastating to publicly announce. I could have sued the school but didn't. You would think they would have refunded me my tuition. I didn't bother to ask for it but I probably should have an attorney write up some papers for me. I was really turned off by my experience. Luckily I have 2 anesthesiologists and 2 R.N.'s in my close family that told me I would not be treated like this once I have a job. But really if the women are all crazy like I have been reading and have witnessed first hand then a career in the nursing field would not make me happy. The only good thing I can say about Baker is that I'm glad that after a year of classes my advisor told me the truth about getting into the Nursing Program and that I basically need to have all A's on EVERYTHING!!! I have also taken all my classes there as well.

Looking for LPN school in Michigan
I went to Baker (Clinton Township) as well. I have two A's in A&P and Math and then Two B's in Psychology and English. I really feel like I was mislead. I spoke with my adviser today and she told me in order for me to get into the R.N. program I will need A's in all of my other Pre-Req's, and then it depends on some other factors too. I feel soooooooo let down & mislead by Baker College :thnkg:. I am also just thinking of going to Everest to just get my L.P.N. Does anyone know if our financial Aid will cover the tuition for the L.P.N. program at Everest? I am not eligible for grants just LOANS.

Question about A&P!!!!!
A&P Is hard and if you plan on taking all of those classes and don't plan on having a life at all it's going to be harder. I don't even have the time to make dinner for my husband during the week or weekend. I have 1 math and A&P class. A&P is ALOT of reading and remembering things. It is fun and interesting but a lot to remember. Also I go to a university and my class is only 10 weeks before A&P 2
