difference between private and public healthcare
Nsw hourly rate depends on number of years of experience. I have a friend working in ICU in a private hospital with previous 4 yrs experience and he gets 28dollars an hour while my other friend in a private aged care dementia unit with previous 8 yrs experience currently receiving 34 dollars an hour plus penalties when she work night shift or weekend.

who will need to undergo Substantially Equivalent Competency (SEC) assessment
hi!janfrn,5cats and everybody, I got a letter of invitation to come to surrey B.C from CRNBC, for the SEC assessment, honestly i have decided already not to pursue with this assessment because i know that it will cost me so much to travel to Canada. I just want to ask.....if anybody of you have gone through the same process already. It was stated in the invitation that i have to apply for a TEMPORARY RESIDENT VISA to attend SEC. (I was expecting that they want me to travel on tourist visa) I just want to ask to those who have gone through the same process. Granting i would be granted for a temporary resident visa to come to surrey B.C, will i be allowed to stay after the assessment and for example if i am going to pass the SEC assessment. Will i be allowed in this visa to look for a hospital to sponsor me for a Temporary Work permit to stay and work in Canada. To save some travel cost. My apologies to the moderator if ever my question is not allowed here coz i am already asking about visa and maybe out of the topic already. Thank u so much! j8win

who will need to undergo Substantially Equivalent Competency (SEC) assessment
no..they said..i don't have to pay for it. But being a mummy, i can't just go there. I need to invest huge amount of money on this. Anyway, i always hold on to God's promise. "For I know the plans that I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future." [Jeremiah 29:11]" Thanks so much 5cats!

who will need to undergo Substantially Equivalent Competency (SEC) assessment
hi!5cats, thanks for your concern, yes i haven't been working for more than 2 years now.I worked in saudi arabia for more than 8 years in a tertiary hospital under JCIA (owned by the king of k.s.a). I graduated from the Philippines but i am a resident of another country. Since i left saudi arabia i devoted my time to my daughter, and since she's on pre-school now, i am trying my luck for my Canadian dream. I always dream of living and working in Canada since i was young despite being a resident now of another country other than Philippines. The decision made by CRNBC was really dissapointing on my part. Yes, they want me to complete SEC on mental,med-surg and maternal/newborn nursing as well on child health. On sept. I will be totally out of practice for 3 years. I just wish that they will give me a chance to prove myself. Sad.

I was expecting to receive an eligibility to take the CRNE exam this month, instead i got a letter from CRNBC asking me to come to Canada to take a SEC assessment in Kwantlen Polytechnic University that will take for 1-5 days. They are giving me one year to comply for this.I know that i will not be able to do this assessment and I know that an application is being assessed individually but im just sharing it with all of you and i'm a little bit ...dissappointed of the outcome of my application....

Saudi Arabia - Good Idea or Not
working in Saudi: 1-how advanced are some hospitals/computer documentation available? (never worked anyplace without the nice computerized physician order entry programs) 2-are there any burn units in saudi? (i currently work in a burn ICU and love it) 3-what the pt load (nurse to pt ratio) in med-surg in rayadh hospitals?? i plan to apply to an agency at the end of the yr. thank you all! for RNgirlie: 1. king faisal is a paperless hosp, orders are placed and carried-out on computers. 2. haven't heard of a burn unit in saudi usually these patients are also placed either on surgical or medical unit. 3. ratio usually is 1:5 hope that helps1

Nursing in Saudi Arabia
Hi! I just want to share my experience in working in saudi arabia. I worked for king faisal specialist hospital jeddah for 8 years, It was the best time of my life i was earning 3x compared to the salary of other filipino nurses in small hospitals there. Lived alone in a flat(not sharing),enjoyed the amenities of the accomodation with swimming pool, sauna, gym and other recreational amenities. The accomodation guard doesnt care and check on your apartment, they dont even care if you still lived there as long as you report on your duty on time. I can go to a supermarket wearing my scrub suit.I have worked with male western nurses as well, we also have Male nurses from Jordan, we are free to talk to them and join them in the smoking area during breaks, we are free to travel to other countries during holidays. (i mean the hospital can sponsor you,and you can get a visa wtout any problem) I am allowed to get my husband, children, parents as my dependent on my own expense of course. I can go to Christian religious activities. All i can say is "it was the best time of my life. The story of Dalzac's friend is true, a true life of an OFW in Saudi Arabia, especially in some remote areas of the kingdom. I maybe lucky not to experience that. Thank you.
