  1. very strange. but there must have some criteria on which they assess .. atleast one should have an idea prior to applying as this involves a huge cost, money and time both. isn't it ?
  2. yeah but is there any way to self assess if I would be requiring SEC or not. is it only dependent on ones education (transcript) or work experience in certain areas is also evaluated ? do they give reasons why they are recommending SEC in the letter they issue ? Nurses gone through SEC are requested to please share their experiences.. thanks
  3. I would like to know if all international educated nurses have to undergo SEC assessment or only those having 3 years diploma ? or those having less experience or what ? What exactly are the parameters on which CARNA decides if one has to go for SEC assessment before taking CRNE ? can anybody please tell me ? thanks.
  4. CARNA is College & Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta - CARNA Nursing body of Alberta and IEN is Internationally educated nurses
  5. I couldn't understand what are the parameters on which CARNA decides if a person has to undergo SEC assessment. is it your education, if you are diploma or bscN ? or is it your work experience or is it your area of specialty or what ? do anyone out here know about this ? thanks.
  6. Thanks for your prompt responses. its so kind of you... what I understood is that dependent's documents will be processed along with the primary applicant but s/he will get the student visa unless he /she is eligible to apply for any other type of visa. isn't it ? Now if my husband will be on student visa, Will he be able to work on it ? if yes is there any hours limit per week ? what would be the validity of that visa ? is it renewable ? is there any other way out if he don't want to come on student visa ?
  7. thanks for your advise. I think it sounds logical. Don't they allow spouse on TWP visa? does my husband need to take admission in a university for applying student visa ?
  8. @Silverdragon Thanks for your reply. We are from Pakistan and if it takes 5 years from UK then I guess it will be much longer from here. Do you have any idea how much will it take to complete the process, i mean getting PR ? is there any exact requirement about total work experience in canada after which you can apply for PR ? as in your case its only 5 months that you are preparing for PR. by the way, Wish you all the best for your PR.
  9. Hi, I am also planning for registration in Alberta. i couldn't understand why u need to go for SEC Assessment. where u from ? are u a bscN or diploma and how much experience you have ? thanks.
  10. Hi, I am a registered nurse with 3 yrs diploma and planning moving to Alberta along with my spouse. Presently I am preparing my docs for submitting to CARNA for registration. Meanwhile I have checked the self assessment for immigration and feel that we can qualify for immigration as well. Our goal is to get the PR as soon as possible so that my spouse could start his higher education as a local student. I know that immigration takes alot of time as compared to getting registration and license with CARNA. can anybody please guide me if we can process immigration and registration with CARNA simultaneously ? Secondly, having work permit, after how much time I can apply for PR and how much time it takes for getting it ? Before starting this thread, I have already searched alot for similar thread already on the forum but could find any. Please let me know if anyone has information about it. thanks.
  11. such a good set of questions.. all that I need to know as well. but no body replied yet. can anyone pls reply above queries... thanks.
  12. Hi friends, I am a 3 yrs diploma nurse (RN) from Pak. I'v been planning to move to Australia / Canada. Can anybody pls guide me if on the basis of my current qualification, would I be eligible for license examination. I have heard that soon BScN will be mandatory. is it already implemented in all states in australia and in canada ? Right now I am working as a Quality Assurance Nurse in my country. What is its scope in Australia / Canada ? If its not that good what are the other options (non-bedside) having better prospects and easy to immigrate. Pls suggest how should I move on.. Thanks.
