UCLA MSN Fall 2014
I have worked full time so far, but it is very difficult. I have no choice because I have to support my family, but if you have a choice, you should go to part time. Your grades will thank you. Next quarter we have three days of clinicals per week so it might be harder to continue full time, but then we graduate, so it is not so bad...

UCLA MSN Fall 2014
I am a second year Agult Gero Acute student, and if I remember correctly, they will send you an e-mail with you acceptance letter. It will also be available online.

Raise your hand if you worked and went to NP school full time?
I currently work full time days 3X12 hr shifts in oncology while attending UCLA's Adult-Gero ACNP program full time. So far so good, but it is a very difficult schedule. If you don't handle stress well, it is not recommended. Also, you need your manager on board to allow you to make your schedule work out.

University of Oklahoma-Accelerated BSN Program
Also, it is very hard for new grads to get a position out of school. Ou doesn't help with placement either.

Make sure any program you apply to is NLN certified or your credits might not transfer for future schooling. Especially check up on this regarding kaplan. I did the San Diego ou program.

Cedar... New Grad Program 2011?
Business casual. It will be covered during your visit to HR. They do a good job with onboarding. Very professional. Don't worry.

Cedar... New Grad Program 2011?
Lots of sitting and learning. Presenters all day. The good news is that they care about the employees and want us to be informed. I just have a difficult time sitting for so long. Blood products and IV training tomorrow.

I emailed the recruiter (no names) and apparently it was a "glitch".

Cedar... New Grad Program 2011?
They give you a study guide with info for each test and there is a refresh and review session before each test. See everyone on Monday bright and early!

Cedar... New Grad Program 2011?
Westsiderentals.com is a good site for rentals. Everywhere in LA is expensive for rentals. Our first two weeks are hospital and nursing orientation. Then we get assigned to a unit and our schedule mirrors our preceptors' schedules.

$1500 relo. up to $2600 tuition reimbursement. I think they are done with calls unless more people cancel.

Cedar... New Grad Program 2011?
Did anyone who already went through physical/HR day get a confirmation call a couple of days before they went in?

Cedar... New Grad Program 2011?
Also, anything over your assigned shift would be OT and anything over 40 HRs would be OT. They will explain everything during orientation.

Cedar... New Grad Program 2011?

Cedar... New Grad Program 2011?
I think you pretty much have to accept on the phone because they ask if you can make the scheduled start date and begin processing through HR right away.

University of Oklahoma-Accelerated BSN Program
If any recent grads are watching the forum, does anyone have an extra sleeve patch? I bought new scrubs top for this semester and need a patch. BTW for those of you with stethescope questions, any type will work. You will mostly be listening to lung sounds, bowel sounds, and heart sounds.

Anyone else applying to OU's accelerated BSN program in San Diego?
Hi, The OU San Diego program is closing in 2011 and the Spring cohort is the last one for the program. We have heard rumors that there will be another school taking over the program but nothing concrete yet. Good Luck with your nursing degree!

University of Oklahoma-Accelerated BSN Program
I have heard that they are having difficulty getting enough clinical hours through the local hospitals and that there are not enough clinical instructors for all of the students they were accepting. Either way, if you are having trouble with pre-reqs and had low GPA as a result, I would recommend reinforcing those subjects. The program is difficult, and you will have a lot of challenges in doing well. Time management is key, and even that doesn't help for the summer semester when you take 16 credits in 10 weeks. I don't mean to discourage you at all, just be realistic so you can do well when you get accepted:) Good Luck!

need help , would you please clarify to me
The schools I have looked at require a nursing license and a bachelors degree.Yo to complete nursing school to sit for the licensing exam, so nursing school would be the way to go. The whole process is at least six years for that including the CRNA program. Why would you do that instead of completing the requirements to practice medicine in the US?

Does being a guy have any affect on being accepted into your schools nursing program?
I am in a bachelor's to BSN program and my class is about 10% male. All of the guys I have met have been pretty competent, so I would have to say they rank higher up in the class overall. The best advice is to work your hardest and do very well in your pre-reqs and in nursing school. If you know that you put in 100%, you never have to look back with regrets.

University of Oklahoma-Accelerated BSN Program
I think my GPA was around 3.2 overall, but I had all As for the prereqs I took in the year leading up to the program. I think a lot of the people in the program did well in their pre-reqs and these are probably weighed more than previous undergrad work. I have been in several discussions with fellow students trying to understand the reasoning behind the admissions decisions, but we have not come to any conclusions other than that we just can't figure it out.

University of Oklahoma-Accelerated BSN Program
Hi all, I am also a 1st semester student heading into finals...I think the reason for them cutting down on summer new admit numbers is that they are changing to a new location in SD and the summer is only ten weeks long, so you have to do 15 weeks worth of work in 2/3 the time. Keep in mind, this includes like 80 hours of clinicals which usually start a few weeks into the program for first semester. Starting in summer would not be fun. Also, there is a learning curve for the nursing program; it is not like regular undergrad college. You will need time to acclimate to a new system, and a rushed 10 week summer is not the best time to do that, so those of you who will be trying for the Fall, you are actually in better shape. Also, if you are applying for scholarships, most deadlines are based on a Fall admission date and this will help for any private scholarship applicants. Hope this helps.
