  1. Hey! Congrats on getting an Interview. I got a call to set up an interview - I did a phone interview in the beginning of October then did an in person interview as well as take a tour of the unit on Oct. 10th. I got the offer a few days later. The new grad program I will be starting in begins Feb 9th. Before Christmas I started working on transfering my license from IL to CA because it is a process. If you have any other questions please let me know - being out of state definitely makes it more challenging! :) Where are you coming from?
  2. Hey I am coming from Chicago so I am planning on going out in January to look for some places. I am thinking westwood/brentwood as well as marina del rey and santa monica. I don't really think I wanna deal with the traffic either but I figure I'll look at some other options too.
  3. hey I was just wondering if any of you guys have found places to live?? I also took a job at UCLA for their new grad program at the Mattel Children's Hospital. I have been looking all over and it is just so confusing on good places to live. Just curious to see if you guys have had any luck!
  4. Loyola's Nursing program is outstanding! I graduated in June 2008 from their ABSN program. It is a lot of work since it is an accelerated BSN program, but I learned so much and had so many great clinical experiences as well as faculty members that provided so much education and support. I would recommed Loyola if you are looking at schools for Nursing.
  5. Thank you all so much for all the great info! I did not know about them not having to give you a fridge - I will make sure to ask about that at the places I look at. I will for sure have a car because I heard not having a car in LA is pretty difficult. I will be working 12 hour shifts and to start off will be rotating between nights/days. I have looked at various places online in santa monica, westwood, west hollywood etc. seems like the average price is about 2,000 for an apt. I am definitely going to look into Marina Del Rey as well. Thank you all so much again I appreciate it!! :)
  6. Hey Nurse ALEB- Good to know that we are in the same boat! I am moving from Chicago and am very excited for the new position, but of course nervous. Congrats on the Cedars-Sinai Position and for being off orientation how exciting!! :) I will definitely look at Marina Del Rey when I went to visit/interview at UCLA I went to dinner in Marina Del Rey and it seemed really nice I will add it to my list to check out - and it is always nice to be by the beach! :) THanks for the info and if I have any questions I will for sure let you know since we have a lot in common! :)
  7. I am a new grad who is moving to LA to work at UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital! I am trying to get suggestions from people as to where would be a nice and safe place to live that is either close to UCLA so I could walk or that has a bus stop so I can take the bus to work. I have been looking in Westwood and Santa Monica, but there are so many places it is very confusing. Just trying to see if anyone has any apartment names that are nice. I will be going Dec/Jan to fill out my paperwork as well as look for apartments so any information would be very helpful! Thanks!!
  8. Hi I was wondering what positives/negatives they have. I would be working on the Peds Floor? any input would be great - I would be a new grad. Thanks so much! :nuke:
  9. Hi I am from IL and do not know much about the benefits of being in a union. I have a job offer from UCLA and they were telling me you have the option to join the union or not. Im just wondering what people feel would be the benefits of joining?? Thanks in advance for your help!:wink2:

I applied to UCLA's Mattell Children's Hospital and have a phone interview there soon and from what I hear that is in a good/safe neighborhood. I am from out of state so any info would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
