RN to apply for nursing assistant position? good idea?
I recently received my RN license back in August 2008 but still working on my BSN till February 2009. i've been applying to every single hospital but no one wants to hire me because I don't have experience. My only professional experience I have is being a salon manager since 2004. I've tried looking into SNF's and LTC but they all want at least a year of experience. I'm thinking of applying to nursing assistant positions, to at least get my foot in the door. Is that a good idea? Is it possible for a licenced RN to become an extern/intern? Please help! BTW i'm in the San Diego Area.

Non-degree RN license issues...
I'd be an RN but it would still be non-degreed. My school offers you to continue the BSN program even if you received your license. But they won't issue you a ADN unless you switch your entire program around.

Non-degree RN license issues...
In my case I can still continue with my BSN program that i'm originally in, So down the road i'll have my BSN. Is that going to be an issue if I move to another state even though i'll be a nongrad RN with a BSN?

Non-degree RN license issues...
There's an issue going on with our nursing program... In December our class will have all the requirements needed to test for the nclex but we aren't issued degrees cause we still have another year left in our BSN program. We have the choice to take the nclex before we graduate which the BRN will label us as non-degreed RNs OR we continue on with the BSN program for another year and take our boards after we graduate which the BRN will label us as degreed RNs. My issue is that I want to take my nclex before i graduate so that I can start working while i'm continuing my BSN program. This will give me a non-degree rn license yet i'm still planning on getting my BSN. (even if i do receive my BSN afterwards, i'm still labeled a non-degreed RN, and I can only change my status if I take the NCLEX again) The question is what are the disadvantages of having a non-degreed license, even if i will be receiving my BS in nursing? I understand that non-degreed RNs will have a hard time getting licensed in other states, but how hard is it? Isn't it just the matter of sending in your transcripts stating you have a BSN? And is there an issue about going for higher education with a non-degreed license? How do hospitals look at this, even though I will have my BSN.

Is it possible to be a new grad and go to school?
This is a little bit complicated but i'll try to make it clear. I'm currently in an accelerated BSN program and by December of 2007 I will have finished taking all the required classes I need, to take the NCLEX. I plan to take the month of January 08 to do Kaplan and then test in February 08. The rest of the classes for the actual BSN degree will take place March 08 and they will be monthly online classes for the rest of 2008. Assuming that I pass the NCLEX do you think that it is possible to enter a new grad program and still go to school fulltime? I was thinking just to do some part time work but someone told me that new grads must enter a program full time? Also is it possible to take kaplan and study extensively in January and be ready by the end of February? Thanks!!

National University nursing program in San Diego
Hi I'm currently in the nursing program at NU and I got to tell you its very fast pace and expensive. If you have a job think about quiting it cause you won't have time to work while doing 16 hours of clinicals, 5 hour lecture a week on top of the studying, papers, and careplans. But the benefits, you finish fast. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Unit Clerks? in san diego
I'm a pre-nursing student and I want to get a job as a Unit clerk, if I don't get into a nursing program soon i'll go for CNA training but right now i'd like to know how much unit clerks make and does it depend on where you work, I plan on working in the ICU, also what do they do besides assign rooms and page nurses, and do you nurses know if they are hiring unit clerks anywhere in san diego.
