  1. I am a grad from acclerated BSN and though it seems frustrating in beginning with prereqs etc but in the end it s better than doing three year BSN degree. Time flies in no time and you'll discover that you have better chances of landing job as helathcare professional than other fields. I have heard that if one goes to banks for loans, RN gets more preference these days than a computer professional because it is believed that nursing has more stable future in this economy than IT. best of luck !
  2. THANK YOU EVERYBODY FOR BOOSTING MY CONFIDENCE AND MORALE. As suggested by some of you, I made a long list of my preceptor's unprofessional and unethical behaviour and handed it to my instructor for review. Earlier, my school was looking at me suspiciously but when I gave them long list of my preceptor's habit of breaking basic rules, they were surprised. This is a very reputable teaching hospital and my school also did not have any idea that nurses can do something like this on this hospital's floor.I suggested to the hospital's academic staff that before letting my nasty preceptor precept anybody, they should give her extensive preceptor training so she does not makes some other new grad's preceptorship experience awful. I completed my preceptorship with another preceptor and she was very understanding, helpful and also with 20 years of experience.
  3. good:yeah:, at least one villain was thrown out of your school. Very appreciative of your school. I fail to understand why these nurses forget that they were also new grads in some point of their life.
  4. I am completing my preceotorship in a very famous Christian Hospital in Southern California. She is a young 30+ blond with not more than 4 years experience. I am atleast 6-7 years older to her. She yells at me, demoralizes me infront of other nurses and uses me most of the time like CNA even though I am in graduate RN program. I am 100% sure that this preceptor will give me bad evaluation. She always breaks basic rules when she is in hurry and when I confront her, she would get back at me that I am incompetent and she knows better. What one should do in such situation ? She gave a very bad evaluation about me to my instructor verbally and she would give in writing too. My instructor understands my point of view too but how should I present my feelings to my instructor. Should I make a list of her unprofessional behaviour and hand it to my instructor ? Please somebody has similar experience than mine because I think most of the time nurses do not want students and they have been forcibly given by hospital management to precept and they take it out on students and try to destroy our future.
  5. Like Frisco09 and Calbear06, I also had my interview on June 4th, 2009 with Cedars in the afternoon. Well, I reached half an hour before and as soon as I entered, somebody checked my name, my portfolio and within 5 min I was sitting infront of an interviewer. My interview lasted for almost around hour and I was asked all kind of questions from scenario based, medications and psychosocial etc. My interviewer had list of Questions and she was grading on scale of I-5 and she kept marking me after every question. I did not care what she was marking because I was thoroughly enjoying my interview and answered all questions to my best ability. My experience was good one and the interviewers are very helpful and good to talk to. After my interview, I just took a water bottle from their snack table and left as I also had to drive 60 miles back home. Are we suppose to call them about my results or they will call us or send letter. Please, can anybody advise me on this. I am thankful that somebody started this thread:)
  6. I went to Job fair too just to collect free pens , pads and brochures. There was this booth of certain hospital where resumes were being collected like trash newspapers. They were throwing resumes behind their back on big piles without even looking at them.I think job fairs are just fake marketing tool and even if one gets job its mostly thru previous contacts etc. After spending so much money on private nursing schools and having good GPA , Still new graduates are struggling to get jobs. its big shame for our country :angryfire
  7. This is the first time I would be having a telephone interview. I am very confident person but I don't know how to present myself in phone interview . Does anybody have any idea. This is my 1st interview and first step for going to next level. I badly need this job help me please !.................:icon_roll
  8. From what you have written, I suppose it must be joint effort of whole class, my class also would be having a pinning ceremony in couple of months. It is just a private affair of few handful of students from class whom the class representative knows. She and her friends would be organizing everything and the rest of class is totally uninvolved. The rest of the class would be sitting there not knowing what to do. Even most of the teachers know these students only. The whole lighting lamp, singing song is a big show off event for these students only. The rest of class looks like bunch of strangers sitting there and making fool of themselves. I hope your group is not like that.
  9. Hi , does anybody knows anything about palomar pomerado health, escondido california nurse externship program. Do they pay good and if I get hired there, will it be easy for me to enter their new grad residency program. I am a BSN student graduating in august and am a good student with good GPA and some background of healthcare fair activities and a volunteer in local hospital. I am single and am ready to relocate from LA to san diego I am also concerned if I do not have any hospital related work experience except my clinical roation and volunteer work, will it become my reason of not being selected for nurse externship. The hospital informed that I have all the requirements met for nurse externship and soon they'll be calling me for an interview. I am little confused
