  1. Linnusik: Sorry to pry but just curious what you talked about when you discussed why you wanted to become a CRNA? I feel like I have some good reasons (I think) but curious what other people's reasoning is for wanting to become a CRNA.
  2. Does anyone know how competitive the RN-BSN option is at the U. I am putting all of my eggs in their basket so to speak, so I hope I get in!
  3. I went to UVU (UVSC). Yes, pellgrantsdo cover nursing students. There is no waiting list at UVU, it is strictly competitive based. This is good because you don't have to wait, but you have to have almost all A's to get it. In the 5 pre-reqs I have 3 A's and 2 A-'S and got in the first time. I liked the UVU program, but maybe would have gone to the UofU if I could redo it. Good Luck!!
  4. I always got a little burn out some time in the semester. The only advice I can give you is just to stick with it and before you know it, you will Be DONE!! Good luck
  5. Most schools that I have looked into want adult ICU not OR experience. Nurse in the OR don't really have the same monitoring/assess opportunities as adult ICU nurses.
  6. I have been a male NICU nurse for the last year and have loved it. There are a total of two males out of 60 NICU nurses. Needless to say, I was a bit outnumbered, but I loved working in the NICU. Sometimes it got awkward when the moms needed to breast feed, but I just asked if the were comfortable with a male helping them breast feed, and surprisingly enough about 80% had no problem. The other 20% I sent a female nurse in to help the mom.
  7. We are all a bunch of adrenaline junkies according to this pole!!
  8. Thats a hard one.... I would probably choose A and have a good talk with the student and never offer such help to those students. Plus, it might come in handy to have a bit of dirt on a fellow student lol
  9. I am glad to here that NeuroICU works for CRNA school. I just got a job there and was a little worried about it. Good to know!! I can't wait to get started in the Neuro ICU:D
  10. I am a new grad and I just landed a job in our neuro ICU. I am nervous/scared/excited. I am going to be going through a six month orientation/training program, but it still makes me nervous. Good luck!
  11. At least you got asked if you wanted it. At my facility I was just told to get in the line for my shot. They said it was mandatory. Anyway it didn't make me sick and from what I understand it can't make you sick.
  12. Nursing has been a love/hate thing for me. To me it has been a means to an end. I want to practice as an APRN and I just finished had my last nursing class a couple of days ago. Don't stress about the "I love nursing" students. They annoyed me too. Just finish what you started and you will always have a markable skill to fall back on just in case.
