  1. Hello everyone! I'm working on my cover letter right now and I was wondering who I should address it to. Should I address it to the actual nurse recruiter or the nurse manager of the particular unit? I'm planning on calling the hospital that I am interested in to find out the name. Another question, given the tough economy do you think it would be beneficial if I volunteered at the local hospital? I just recently moved to Northern Calif (Sacramento area) because of my husband's job so I'm still settling in and what not. Thank you for those who do respond!
  2. dannibee, Do you know places that are hiring in the Sacramento valley? I recently moved here from San Diego because my husband is stationed at Beale AFB. I've been looking and looking, but nothing so far! The only call I got was for a staffing company to work at flu clinic giving vaccines. Thanks!
  3. Hello! I'm an Air Force wife as well :) I'm actually an RN already, but I haven't graduated yet with my BSN (Calif allows you to take the NCLEX w/o graduating as long as you complete the required classes). Right now I'm doing online classes. In regards to online schooling, if you're just starting nursing school, it might be hard to find a program that offers exclusively online because of the clinicals. If you don't mind me asking, where are you located at? You can just PM that. My school offers some of the nursing classes that do not require a clinical online (those are the ones that I'm taking right now). Ok, I just re-read your post and I just saw that you stated that your BF is just joining. I suggest you wait then until you get to his actual duty station! From my experience (my dad used to be military) usually you'll be at a duty station 2-3 years, so if you can get into a nursing program near his duty station then you'll be able to finish up your nursing degree before you guys PCS again. I don't know about your financial situation, but if you want some grants go to this site: http://www.act.org/afas/ I applied for that last school year and got a good grant! Best of luck to you and PM me if you have anymore questions!
  4. fuuchan would you like to swap resumes?
  5. Hello! Can someone also please look over my resume? Thank you!
  6. I took mines on Nov 16th too and got the pop up! I've been obsessively checking the BON website too!!!! I hope our names pop up soon!!!
  7. Congrats cebuana_nurse!!! :yeah: Did you do the quick results? The trick really does work then!!!
  8. diegy_d I'm sorry to hear that you've had a rough time there in Central Cali! I've been there a couple of times and I'm Filipino myself...! Never had problems, but I'm sure it's different if I actually lived there. Anyway, if you got the good pop up, I'm sure you passed! From what I've heard and read so far, the PVT is pretty reliable. Perhaps you haven't seen your name at the CA BRN because of Veteran's Day and the furloughs like you said. My friend saw her name after 4-5 days, BUT that depends on how quick the BRN is at updating the website. I've read from a couple of posts here that it may take a couple of weeks or so to see your name! Hang in there and I wish you the best of luck
  9. Cebuana_nurse pls pls let me know what the quick results are if you don't mind! I really need to know if the PVT is reliable because this wait is driving me INSANE! Unfortunately I live in California and California doesn't participate in quick results :angryfire Thank you so much!
  10. Actually I just did PVT again about half an hour ago and I got this pop up: "Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Please contact your Member Board for further assistance. Another registration cannot be made at this time." Is that the good pop up?!? I'm so NERVOUS!
  11. Hey! I had 75 questions. I don't know if that's good or bad. Honestly, when I left the testing center I was thinking that I must have been doing SO HORRIBLE that the computer decided to give up on me I called my friend today and asked her about the pop up and she told me the same thing that the pop up was saying. She took hers on a Monday (Nov 2) and she was able to see her name on the BRN website by Thurs midnight! I hope we both pass
  12. hey pretty_nurse1028 I tested in CA too yesterday and did the PVT when I got home. I got the same pop up as you. My friend who took the NCLEX two weeks ago got the same pop up and found out she passed from the website after 4-5 days. If the trick is true, we can expect to see our names by the end of this week or early next week. Good luck to both of us!
  13. Hi Murphyal, I did lots of questions! I studied for about 2 months. Know your content and practice your critical thinking skills. I used Saunders Comprehensive Review 4th Edition, Saunders Question & Answer 4th Edition, and Kaplan. I took the Kaplan online review, which provides you the Qbank and the 7 Question Trainer tests. I used Saunders for the review for content and did questions from Saunders. However, I do believe that Kaplan was what enabled me to tackle the NCLEX questions. The Kaplan questions are MORE similar to NCLEX style vs Saunders. I highly suggest to take Kaplan or at least invest in the qbank. Hope that helps! Message me if you have more questions :) PS.. I didn't know if you were replying to me or to the OP oops!
