  1. Hello All! I received some information on the Army Reserve. I have 3 years of ER experience and was just curious how the Reserve worked. I have never served and was looking for information on what all is expected. Are the pay/benefits good? Will I be local or sent overseas? How long am I expected to serve? I am clueless on all of it and any information would be great! Thanks!
  2. Good to know! Are there any decent travel agencies that you could recommend as well?
  3. Thanks! Is the commute terrible going towards LA?
  4. Great, thanks! I've heard they don't pay as much in this area because everyone wants to live there.
  5. Hello all, I currently live in the Dallas area and was curious what the best hospitals are in the Orange County area. What could I expect for pay as a BSN nurse with 3 years ER experience? Thanks in advance!
  6. Well I graduated on December 16 th and I am still waiting to schedule to take the NCLEX. The board received my ATT on the 20th so now I guess I am just waiting on an email from Pearson Vue? I'm sure the holidays put a delay on things but I'm ready to know when I can test! Does anyone know how long it typically takes to hear? Thanks!
  7. Congrats Prettyladie!! That is fantastic!
  8. I'm waiting too!!!
  9. Thank you so much for the info! I hope you hear good things from your interview. :)
  10. Hey guys! Does anyone know if they allow you to test out of college algebra in order to take Statistics or do you have to complete a course? Thanks!
  11. That is awesome!! I went into nursing school hoping to work at Parkland when I graduate. Good luck to you! What position did you apply for?
  12. Good luck to all! Which interviews is everyone set up for?
  13. I did! I am in an ADN program and finding that everyone wants a BSN. I already have plans to transfer to Tech's RN-BSN program after I graduate. I have found that it is going to be mandatory to have one sooner than later.
  14. Hey guys! Are y'all in BSN programs?
  15. Does anyone know when they will post internships for December graduates?
  16. Thanks for the info! I am afraid you are right. I am bridging over after graduation in December so I will have to just wait until I graduate with my BSN. I will just have to try and get as much experience under my belt in the meantime.
  17. I have heard this many times and I am afraid it is a reality. I will be bridging over as well after December graduation for my BSN. I am lucky enough to have a job in a great hospital now so I am thankful for that. I guess the guidelines for all of the top Pediatric hospitals will just give me another goal to work towards. :)
  18. Hey guys! I am finding that if you don't have a BSN that it is impossible to get on at Cook's or Children's as a new grad. Any thoughts on this? Thanks!! :)
  19. I agree!! It is an awesome hospital!! :)
  20. Yikes! It sounds like GN's with their ADN are going to have a tough time finding a job.
  21. Tammy, Thank you for the great info!! I have heard wonderful things about Children's!! It sounds like an amazing place to work! I will continue to look online for openings for graduate nurses. I may take you up on the PM once I get closer to graduation or if I hear anything back from any applications. Thanks again!! :)
  22. Hello All- I am approaching my final semester of nursing school! I am having issues with my current financial aid office and having to appeal my financial aid that is to be awarded to me. I was taking classes towards my BSN and that has put me over the 99 hours they allow me to attempt. Long story short, I am going to be lucky if I receive half of the allowed amount at this point. I applied for scholarships through my school and did receive a $500 scholarship. My question is, how do I go about finding other sources of help for making it through my last semester. I know that fastweb and websites like this may be helpful but it seems like a lot of the scholarships don't apply to me. I need help whether it be through loans or scholarships to finish school. I have already filled out my fasfa as well. Please help!! Thanks!
  23. Good luck!! I applied for 5 months before I finally heard something back. Don't get discouraged. I hope it works out!!
  24. Hey! I am a tech at THR and have been for a little over a year. I am a nursing student so I am technically a nurse extern. My job duties besides the obvious vital signs are that I am able to start IV's, draw labs, insert foley catheters, EKG's, and insert NG tubes. Hope this helps:)
