KAPLAN-NCLEX in San Francisco
I took the Kaplan online. I passed first time with 75 questions. Looking back I wish I only purchased the Q bank though. If you have a saunders book (4th edition) that's all you really need for content. If you did okay in nursing school you just need some basic review of content and PRACTICE QUESTIONS at the application/analysis level. The qbank is pleanty. If you're interested in the kaplan strategy that everyone talks about you can purchase a "kaplan strategy" book that they sell in bookstores for $35 dollars. To be honest, I rarely used their strategy, but it seems to help some people. If you don't want to pay for the q bank, I think the saunders book, the kaplan strategy book, and an Assesment and Delegation book (people talk a lot about this book on this forum) would prepare you well. All 3 books together are oonly about $100.

Nursing in the Caribbean or Bahamas
There are several islands in the caribbean where spanish is not the primary language. If you only speak english, consider islands such as the US virgin islands, or British virgin islands. Here's a link to a "large" hospital on St thomas, US VI. It looks large enough where they might have on a regular staff for their OR. http://www.rlshospital.org/services.htm Good luck!

any one hired at John Muir Walutcreek?
Well, my interview went well. I was asked back on the spot. Next is the panel interview (in about 2 weeks).... If you don't mind, I have a few questions-- I'm assuming the normal interview questions and scenario questions... can you please give me an idea of what to expect? Do you think there's much I can do to prep? Who will be interviewing me (RN's, managers, etc?). Also, how long after the interview did you hear whether you were hired or not? Any info is much appreciated! Thanks!

Thank you sooooooo much for the info. I really appreciate it!! I'm pretty nervous, but having some idea of what to expect helps. I'll let you know how the interview goes.

any one hired at John Muir Walutcreek?
Hi- I'm interviewing with John Muir Hosptial next week. Since you were hired not too long ago, I was wondering if you could give me any pointers for my interview---( they didn't specify what kind of interview it is--individual, group, etc) types of questions to prepare for, etc. Also, how does the interviewing process work? I recall someone mentioning a pre-panel interview-- is that what I'm technically going to for my first interview? And, what are your thoughts on their 5-month long training/residency program (have you enjoyed it, do you think you've learned a lot, etc.) I'd really appreciate your input! Thanks!

Can an instructor do this???
Last semester the class ahead of us had a similiar situation BUT WORSE!!! We test using laptops on a secure lockdown browser and WiFi... well, long story short, the test was scheduled at 10:00am and half the class were there until 4pm for what was suppose to me a 1 hr test! Horrible. After 2hrs of messing with the computers the instructor decided to have paper copies of the test printed up. The problem with that was that we are on a new campus that has "gone green"... not really anywhere to print things up... talk about about being stressed for a final!
