Has anyone worked in Dallas in the city, recently? I know when I had clinicals there over 15 years ago, it was pretty dangerous going back and forth to your car. I have been told about some assignments there and am really concerned about my safety.

Hi. I believe that Denton Presby does hire new grads. I know that Wise Regional does, and offers good opportunities for all new grads. That is located in Decatur, TX. Also if you want to go as far as Wichita Falls, the hospital there really uses LVN's in all areas. The name of that hospital is United Regional Medical Center. Good Luck!

:icon_rollhi! i have worked with msn and ppr. i am currently investigating fast staff. msn was who i worked with before i started traveling, so i did per-dium for them. they paid well for their shifts, but we were the first ones cancelled or sent home early. that feels great at the time, but if you are counting on the income, it isn't so great! they couldn't find me anything that i was interested in when i started traveling. ppr is who i have traveled with for the last two assignments, and i have been very pleased. the agent that i have is very pleasant, and accomidating. the only trouble that i have had with them involved there housing department, so when i let me agent know she promised she would handle the housing for me. since that, there haven't been any problems. your agent makes the difference, i am beginning to learn. hope that helps and answers your questions.

glad to hear that someone has had success working with medical solutions agency. i have not accepted an assignment from them, but i am talking to them about my next assignment starting in january. has anyone worked with faststaff? several travelers have mentioned them, and have had mixed reviews. they haven't contacted me, but i was thinking about looking them up. i understand that they typically have shorter assignments.

Has anyone done traveling with TruStaff? I have had calls from that agency with offers, as well as Travel Max and Medical Solutions. Relating any experiences with these would be appreciated. There are so many travel agencies out there to choice from.

Hey Shannon88, I have only been traveling for about 4 years, but from my experience the national agencies give you more options. I truly have not seen much difference between agencies. If you are wanting to stay within 50 miles from your home, you should go to a local agency that will do per-dium. It usually pays more per hour, but does no guarentee the number of hour you will get. You cost the hospitals more, so you are the first cancelled if the need drops. Unless you go further than 50 miles, I don't believe the agencies can consider you a "Travel Nurse"! Contracts are a more secure way to go, but you get less for the hourly rate as a result of guarenteed number of hours each week/Month. If you have some specific agencies you are thinking about, you might throw those names out there, and see if anyone has any specific experience with them. I hope that answers your questions.

I have been an agency nurse off and on for about 4 years, in the North Texas area. I have used several different agencies. Medical Staffing was pretty good for per diam, at least it was a couple of years ago. I have been in contact with Nightingale and Aureous all during this time, but have only accepted a contract from Nightingale(out of Florida). They were good as far as pay, and communication. They offered me the most for expense stipend, and paid every week without a hitch. The only bad thing is if you decide to go with another agency when one contract is completed, the same rep. that has been sugar sweet turns into a rattlesnake! Also, they put you in the hospital, but won't go to bat for you if the hospital tries to move you around or push you to work differently from the contracted assignment. PPR nursing has been great!
