  1. My test stopped at 87 in Oct. of last year and I was sure I had failed. I did not. I think you should be positive because chances are good that you passed. I live in Ohio and I just kept checking the Ohio Board of Nursings site where they list your license. It is so hard to wait for results. Keep yourself busy with friends or family until you get the results. :weathersunhot::icon_hug:Here's a good luck hug. Keep us posted.
  2. I have a question. I am worried sick about a situation. I counted narcotics with the night nurse and they were correct, then I work a 12 hr shift. I have a pt who takes a narcotic routinely. I sign the narc book before I pull the pill, so I don't forget. The count that night came up with 2 EXTRA pills than there should have been - which I guess is better than 2 less, but still, I may have forgotten to give her the pill that morning - which would have only made the count off by 1! I told the supervisor who just said to write the 2 numbers to the side instead of wasting the pills to make the count correct. I am a new nurse (4 month). Can I get fired for that?
  3. It would make sense that if you live close to a school where you can get an LPN liscense, the job opportunity might be less. I live 30 - 40 minutes west of Cleveland where there a about 3 schools fairly close. Also, in Ohio if you have are an LPN, you can not work as an STNA. Just what I have heard. Good luck wherever you go.
  4. I work in long term care where things started disappearing from the top of my med cart and that of the other nurse who works the floor with me. Pens, highlighters, paper clips, can of pop, you name it. Finally we discovered one of our confused resdents would snatch things right off the cart when we weren't looking.
  5. Does anyone know anything about the cluster of correctional institutions in rural northeastern ohio. If you are familiar with it you know where they are. I am a new grad and this forum gave me the idea that I could have more choices then LTC. Thanks
  6. Try Petersons.com. 3 tests, 180 questions each, 5 hours to complete each test, costs $25.00 and was helpful to me. I used Kaplans 2009 Strategies, Q bank and one of the Petersons tests. Make sure you have time to sit for the test (at least 2 hours). I would start one week ahead of your test on the Petersons. I found these helpful and passed the PN first try. Good Luck to you.
  7. For any of you out there looking for some other help, there is a company called Peterson's. Just go to Petersons.com and they have practice tests. They are not easy and much like NCLEX. It is $25.00 for 3 tests (180 ?'s each) It gives you 5 hours to answer. I found it VERY helpful because it gives you rationales for the ones you missed. I only used one of the tests. I took the NCLEX-PN and passed first time. Good luck.
  8. Very true that some people take time off for whatever reason. It is easy to forget so much if you aren't into it everyday. Everyone in my clinical group pretty much ran to take it. Within 5 weeks they had all taken the test except me because my daughter was getting married and I knew I couldn't focus on more than one big thing at a time.
  9. Yes I did pass it the first time but would have bet money that I failed it. I did not get any calculations - those I love! Peds, infection control, loads of drugs. I have heard that so many of the best nurses around did not pass the first time. It is like roulette, it all comes down to what questions you end up with and what your weaknesses are. So chin up, positive thinking, brush up on the basics and pray thoughtfully. I will be praying for you since it is usually the first thing I think to do in difficult situations.
  10. I would have changed my date at the end too but didn't only because I had other obligations to tend to. Review your basics and go for it! you will feel released once this is over. I don't think anyone truly feels ready since it is a mystery regarding what questions you will get. I thought I failed becuase I got no math calculations and my computer shut down earlier than I thought it would. Get a few good nights of sleep and eat well. Good luck!:wink2:
  11. You can do it!! Weird how you feel so good when it is over. 4 months of studying is long time. Sounds like you are good to go:D. Best of luck to you.
  12. You sound more relaxed and it will do you good to keep it that way. You will be in my prayers for Tuesday!! You will feel so much lighter when you walk out of that testing room!:typing:up:
  13. I took mine on October 9th and found out that I too passed after 88 questions and like you, thought I failed, but I PASSED!!!! It was a long gruelling 4 days of waiting, probably due to a holiday weekend. CONGRATULATIONS NURSE!!!!:clphnds:
  14. I think anyone who has taken the test understands what you are going through. If things you are beginning to get things confused and everything is running together, then stop for a day or 2, review, then go for it. After all, your chances of passing are higher than failing and is it really worth all of this worry? If you don't happen to pass, take it again. You will be able to find out where the weaknesses are. You can do it;)! Go for it!
  15. Thanks for that question. Although I don't have the capability yet (not enough posts) I am thinking that if I did not pass (took NCLEX-PN yesterday and not feeling confident) then I am going for Suzannes Plan too. Good luck to you.
