  1. Hey! Yes, I would definately take the math prep. You have to pass the math or you are dropped from the program. It not only covers the 1st semester math but also goes over 2nd and 3rd. The class is also good for careplan preparation which will sneak up on you as well. As far as the drug test is concerned, it is a urine drug test. So far its the only test I have had although you are subject to random tests periodically. Hope this helps you! Congrats and good luck!
  2. CSN is the way to go in my opinion. It rigorous but your education is solid. The NCLEX pass rates are excellent. Getting hired is another consideration and CSN has a great reputation. By the way, 34 is still very young!
  3. Yeah! Best of luck to you all! I also just finished out my 1st semester and it was a rocky boat! We all stuck together and cried (literally) on each others shoulders. It really is a great program with great instructors. Make sure you keep up on your reading! Send a note if we can help you at all!
  4. I have applied twice and got in the second time. Just make sure that all of your requirements are attached to your application. I am sure that there are lots of people applying but most of them don't come in here. Good Luck and keep checking back! This is a great resource to have of peers who are driving on the same road! Good Luck!
  5. When I took 189 the retention office had a tutor helping anyone that needed help. I needed help! So I took advantage of the tutoring and it helped ALOT! Now that I look back and where I am now..Bio 189 was okay! It just gets you prepared for your journey in general! YOU CAN DO IT!
  6. Yes! I noticed that my lab instructor changed...but I was happy!
  7. Hey there! I am not sure about your application process. Its sounds like you are transferring? I know that we went in for orientation last week and that included all of the new 1st semester students along with people who were reinstated. However, I am not sure of your situation. There is a process that goes along with applying at CSN. You get so many points for your gpa, there are prerequisite classes, and you have to score well on the TEAS. Have you already taken your prerequisite courses? ex: Bio 189, 223, 224, 251 etc?
  8. Hijack away! We all need the support! I feel like I already need a tutor and I haven't even started! lol
  9. I'll ship you my schedule privately. You registered for lab first right? It should let you register for everything else. Make sure you are in Fall 2009. I made that mistake. Otherwise...make sure you call first thing Monday. I am in the later pharmocology class on Wednesday nights.
  10. Hey guys! So today was the orientation for CSN Fall 2009 nursing. Sigh. I left feeling scared and a little sad to be honest. First of all I was told by a few people including a professor that I should not take a certain professor. I advised my friends and then when it came to registering myself...I panicked and I made a BIG BOO BOO and picked the "bad professor". I need some one on one help with this one. First ...I need the people on here to pm me and let me know if they have my schedule! I need support! AND the old timers ....can you pm me and let me chat with you about this teacher and let me know if I am in trouble??? Thanks in advance!
  11. Just for kicks...check in with Nevada State College and see if you can take 251 or 223 without having 189 completed. Then you can transfer your grades in....just a thought
  12. Aussie! Missed you!!!! Let us know how things have gone for you!!!
  13. I got my call too!!!! So so happy!!
  14. Just getting ready...I haven't heard of any calls that went out today.... Just wanted to open up the lines of communicado and see if when and if anyone hears...post it here! Let us know! Good Luck Everyone!
  15. I spoke to the lady in the office...(you all know who I am talking about I hope) and she said that they were going to make calls from Monday - Thursday because when they gave out the exact date last time, people were calling them and it got a little crazy. As soon as anyone hears anything...start a new post and let us know!!!! Good Luck Everyone! We will all have to stick together!!! :yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah:
  16. I think what the rule of thumb is that they take students who have completed all the prereqs and the teas. Then if more spaces are available they take the highest score and the rest who have that specific number of points get in. For example...if you have 27 points and you have the highest points without micro you will get in along with the people who also have 27 points. You really have to be on your toes. You have to make sure you schedule your TEAS way early and if you can't take it at CSN take it at Nevada State and transfer your score. Make sure you schedule your meetings with an advisor from Charleston or Cheyenne and follow through with everything. It makes no difference how many applicants there are. They have to allow room for people who are reinstating into the program. Its competitive and time consuming! Just keep up with the fight and don't give up!
  17. UM...Did I miss something?
  18. If your anxious to get your sciences completed...then I would just jump into 189. Be prepared to study your buns off though! Take advantage of the tutoring the school offers. The Retention office started a program a couple of years back and it really helps. There are a couple of professors to steer away from! Just Private message some of us and we can let you know. CSN will definately have COMM and PSY this summer.
  19. Yeah! We will darn it! Lol
  20. I agree the Teas was much better then the NLN. I ended up with a 84.7. So that gave me 27/28 points depending if they decided if they were going to round up and down. I applied last semester too but I missed by a point. YIKES! They are supposed to call by the end of April to let the applicants that get in know. I would say...EVERYONE should apply. You have nothing to lose! Keep me updated! GOOD LUCK! BTW! These semester 1 girls are really quiet! I want to know how they are holding up! They are making me very nervous!
  21. Yeah..thats what they said was "the competitive number" whatever that means....
  22. I am in the same boat with you! WE WILL MAKE IT THIS TIME!!! I heard through the grapevine that 26 points is the magic number so far (again)...don't know if thats true...BUT...would like to think so!
  23. I ended up with a 84.7%...not bad. I felt okay about it! Did you get your application turned in?? I ended up having 27 points. Hopefully its enough!
  24. Its going to be different because of the difference in point calculations. I think 27/28 will get in. I think its really important to have all the pre reqs completed.
  25. I applied already so we'll see!!! A few of my friends are taking the TEAS this weekend so....it looks like another competitive semester...phew!
