  1. Please, please pull the nurses card, I kind of did with both my parents deaths, BUT NOT ENOUGHT I AM CRYING WRITING THIS. but I felt happier if that the right way to put it with my dad, I and he were part of the process, but I didn't with my mum and I still feel angry she died in 1997, what makes me angry in both cases is their doctors both refused to tell them they where going to die...oh werid ,today my boys had to had a physical and maybe a shot and daddy kept saying don't tell them about the shot and I got angry and said I wouldn't lie cos my mum would'nt and I am realising my having to tell them both that they where dying was because they never lied to me...I will never forgive those doctors who refused to tell them the truth and they where both people who needed the truth.. I am crying again, how can Doctors make me tell both my parent that they are going to die when they asked me.. why would they do that...
  2. I subcribed to a previous post of a male nurse who was HIV postive and he said obviously I can't do obs and gyny why not? I must admit that during my training the lads wheren't allowed to do it but that was 1990, (and at that point us girlies were not allowed to do male caterterisation!) but they could do midwifery, which one of my male friends fully intended to do, my own midwife for my twin delivery was male and and did sterling job unfortunatly because of my footling presentation I had to have a C section but he was there with me, I've never understood why nursing has the male/female boundries espiecially against men considering that a majority of doctors are male... and do far more invasive proceedure, I have alway felt male nurses (and I hate that expression what other profession needs to put a gender in?) tend to have looked longer and harder at themselves before enbarking on their career (appart from my mate Simon who said how else was I going to find a bunch of hot women before anyone else:bow:) so what I am asking do you get annoyed about restriction?
  3. I realise I didn't answer your post, I was angry with the way you where supposed to "hide". in Britian we always think of America as the future... and I have only been here 8 weeks and I think I am living in 1978, I don't know what to advise, but as my previous post I know you will be more careful than most and this is the BIG question would I be happy for you to look after my 3 yr old twins, hell yes, due to my job in the UK I knew one of their Doctors was HIV, he was kind, compasionate, knew what he was doing, good luck to you because health care needs people who know how important good health is, I am a much better nurse since I lost my parents, had children and had a heart Op...
  4. Oh right I am going to be the school teacher here can you all go back and check your answers, some of you will realise how selfish you are being and also a socal system will help you as well
  5. oh god t my gp has always known me go to the UK
  6. Basically to quote "don't walk run" but don't be rude when you run you may want to come back later...trust me it has happened to me and because I didn't diss people I got a top of the rung, never to be repeated job of a life time...for 8 yrs...unfortunatly hubby posted to the USA time to start again...
  7. i agree with most of the above replies don't unless you have anything to apoligies for, and maybe you want to work there, but I would be Ta ta for now nice knowing you!!!
  8. For goodness sake I have been passing doctors and nurses fit for duties for 8 years??? you don't want to be a surgeon or a OR nurse you represent no greater risk to the general public than anybody else, if fact I am willing to bet you maybe safer, come on people how many times have we stabs ourselves with the injecting needle and then thought its okay I haven't got anything...god knows how many time I have done it then fortunalty or unfortunalty for me 3 months into my training my mum had a AIDS patient who rupture during child birth and she was unprotected, got on with the delievery took the hospital 6 months before they told her the pt was AIDS, by this point we had all shared needled sorry to disappoint Dad newly diagnosed diabetic and me glucose intolerent and mum just interested so we had all used the puncture needles thankfully we we're all okay, but we might not have been and how high risk where we 3 people, 2 only one partner and one no partner ever...at the time
  9. Oh and you think we don't have these type of patients in the uk..18 years of nursing 5 in the OR and 6 in ICU never a problem maybe they lash out but probably more in the US because they know they will be tied down, I know I would, the US doesn't have the patent on the mentally unstable and drug addicts, yes I have been hurt but mainly by old little Mrs Smith who has a bladder infection which is much worse, stab with a fork, strangled buy my own apron, pinched, punched, scratched, punched, beaten by a racist pt, stalked, head against a wall by a (relative and three doctor during a employment med exam different instances) restain them if you will...but I have found it better to hold their hand and talk them down and I won't pretent that that doesn't envolve a certain amount of retrained but it is a hell of alot better than tieing someone down believe me...a knife over you normally calms most people and if that doesn't work in the OR we chemical kosh someone if they are a drugie they wake up pretty soon but mellow:yeah:
  10. iwhen reality bites...having said that I was the same as you and my kigs didn't see TV until they we're 2 1/2 cos selfishly I couldn't bare a years mat leave with kids telly, still they have clicked on well...but the good thing is that they can wonder away and play, I have been in the US only 6 weeks and I an horrified by the food, even if you try to do the right thing you are hit with high fructose corn surup it every where..start a campaign do something, its killing your children even meat and bread have it! I am struggleing to find food without it and I try to cook from basics... go on I dare you check your shopping next time.....
  11. Angry I only found out that women having c sections in the US got tied down last week, I had twins that way under locali n the UK believe me you won't move i worked in theatre I have seen amputations under local, my dad and gran had caterax under local not held down believe me I am shocked it is illegal in Europe to tie down a patient even the insane! could I sue for illegal imprisonment? if this happens to me?
  12. ou do confused why can't you do OB? my midwife was male, no kids not married did a sterling job as any female who have done...had twins by the way unfortunatly he couldn't deliver as footling presentation but I would have gone the whole way with this guy if it hadn't been high risk!!!
