  3. YOU ARE NOT A BAD NURSE..... YOU HAVE A BAD PRECEPTOR!!!!! Come to SC I'll train you Stick with it don't let them eat you.
  4. Just remember the important thing is to have a healthy baby. Everything you ask for is reasonable. The cord clamping and cutting is usually done so automatic that no one ever thinks about it. The major KEY is to have open communication with your nurse. As a LDRP nurse, if the patient is sweet and talks with me about why these things are important to her(not just read off the internet and sounds good) I try my best to do whatever makes her happy barring unsafe practice for her or baby. Good Luck.. Let us know how it goes.:redbeathe

I work on a closed unit. We do 6 week schedules at a time. We also have to take call 3 times in a 6 week period. This usually gives us 5-6 nurses a shift and 1 call person. There are months when you have to come in on your call but there are other times when you go forever without coming in. This sounds rough but it keeps you from going to other floors. It has worked well for us. I work for a hospital where we do around 270-295 births a month. I am a pm nurse but the am does this also. The am shift usually runs with 6-7 RN and 1 OR nurse. If you have any questions for me just let me know.
  6. Babyktchr Have you taken the EFM certification? Would you do it again?. Does Lisa Miller do a class for this exam> Thanks for you help and experience.:redbeathe

OK already. As a 7 year veteran OB RNC I have never (thank goodness) had to give Calcium Gluconate for Mag. Toxicity. My questions is ,because it has never been clear to me, Do you mix the gluconate with a mini bag or do you give it with a LR Bolus? I understand that the gluconate is caustic to the veins and it should be given over a 3 min period but what is the proper way?? Thanks...
  12. I took the OB Cert. test last Dec. and I passed first time. It was hard.I took a review class that I thought was very helpful. The easy questions are easy but the hard questions were tough. I had a lot of blood gas questions which I have a very hard time with.I would def. recommend a class or study group. Good Luckl L& D RN
