I was wondering if other PACUs remove the airways in PACU or does the anaesthetist do it before bringing the patient to the PACU? This is a hot topic in our PACU at the moment.
  2. We use ice chips and graduate to sips of water. This seems to work well.
  3. I find guys do really well in the OR. We have lots of guys in our OR and they have never had a problem.
  4. We do not allow visitors in the PACU except in extreme cases. When things go bad they go bad quickly. In this situation you dont want visitors to see this or to have to deal with them.ACORN standards (Australian College of Operating Room Nurses) says visitors are not allowed in PACU except in an extreme case.

We always start our PCAs in PACU. They are often used to give the patient bolus doses before going to the ward.
  6. We currently have 2 RNs in PACU all the time, but recently management has suggest that we could have 1 RN and 1 EN (enrolled nurse). What do you think about that and does anyone else use this combination?
  7. I wear Sanita clogs. I have had red ones, red with butterflies and blue and white butterfly ones. On average they last me around 2 years. I love them, they are soooooo comfortable! I have had other brands in the past, but they are not as good as Sanitas. Sanitas are a little pricy but well worth it. Good luck.
  8. We also have anaesthetic nurses that assist the anaesthetist. The scout and scrub continue setting up, but the scout can give a hand if required.
  9. Ihave been wearing Sanita clogs made by JMR Australia for years and find they have great support, are not heavy and my feet dont ache at the end of the day.:wink2:
