Ok...how lucky is that for your prof to give your class her ppt slides? I hope you experience that in micro too. I haven't had the opportunity to sit under a prof with such generosity. In lecture, I write at a blurring speed and still miss some points. Hey...if you want, let me know how it goes this Fall and I'll do the same. Much success to you in the fall.

Atomic Woman, You just made my day with the comment on not needing fiction. That is great about the dollar bill. Also thanks for the tips on good old soap and plastic apron. I will get a plastic apron and wear it each lab, regardless if my prof or anyone else weawrs one. I don't mind looking like a dork with unsoiled clothes. Hi Kamdyn, Well, by now you've already started your class. It's all going to be ok. You have to do this to get to your goal. You're gonna do great. I just completed this class in Spring 2008 with much dread, and surprisingly somehow I got an "A" for the class. I will say...it's not a gimme class and you could plan to spend more time on it because of all the math formulas that they will teach you throughout the class. Warning...there are many formulas and you're not expected to already know them. But if you have a good professor, he will teach you well. You'll be identifying chemical symbols and their charges, using approriate metric units and need to memorize the periodic table of elements/group #s and they'll talk to you about oxidation and reduction numbers. Also, memorize the Polyatomic ions and their formulas. I wish I would have known that they were going to only refer to elements in formulas/charges during class from day one and you will be expected to know both. You might glance briefly at "gas laws" and "determining pH" and looking at Electron Configuration Charts since these things you will come upon in class and will seem like an old friend when you get there. Ok...hope this helps. I'm headed into Micro in Fall 2008 and I have no clue what I'm in for and slightly dreading it. We'll both do great in the fall and leave it far behind. I've found that usually algebra/math modeling and statistics are required for RN core reqs. The best way to avoid taking unwanted math courses would be to contact the nursing academic advisors at the list of schools you are considering and working closely with them to assure you're following their core expectations. Thanks for this post! I smiled so much when I read it. I'm 38 and in my observations, I've been the oldest person in my classes. So appreciate such encouragement here. I only have Micro left in Fall 2008 before I apply to nursing. Hey...if you have any heads up or areas to pay special attention or to be aware of for Micro...it won't hurt my feelings.
