The Transition Program at PSC is definitely a quick rigorous class! I'm sorry you're having a rough time. There is an academic tutor that you can meet with. . .she is WONDERFUL. She will do test study sessions and anything else you need. I don't have my review material for Transition I any more, but I'll gladly send you all my Transition II and Transition III study material. Also, meet with one of the two instructors and ask them to review the concepts you've missed on the tests, they may have advice for you as well pertaining to the types of questions you're missing. As far as CPEs go, don't get too panicked over them, they are really not as bad as you'd think. Just practice, practice, the skills in the lab and one day a week (It was Thursdays when I was in Trans. I) one of the instructors was in the lab so I went then so they could show me EXACTLY how they wanted the skills performed. I hope this helps a little bit. . . I heard the same thing form a few girls who are finishing up school this year! They said that a few people in their class were affected as well. CrazY!

ChunLiomyRn2b, I know exactly what hospital you are talking about, as I have a relative in HR for the whole organization and i work at that hospital too! :-) I wouldn't give up hope at all!! They are on an ASN hiring freeze in order to gain their magnet status because the hospital HAS to have a certain % of BSN nurses in order to gain that status. THe status will make them available for more grants for research and for continuing education (which could work in your advantage if you're planning on continuing your education). However once they gain their status (hopefully soon and I'm sure before you graduate) They will be able to hire more ASN nurses. I wouldn't give up hope!

Boog'sGirl724 pretty much summed it up! I'm gradating form the Transition program this August and its the only night option there is. You do end up going to class 2x a week for the first week of each semester, but then it is only 1 day/week for class and 1 day for clinicals. Best of luck picking a program! I learned a lot and feel very confident taking my boards after PCC's program! It's tough,but well worth it!

Congrats on your upcoming graduation Chanzes MiMi !! I couldn't have described it any better!! The program is really tough, but it really prepares yo for your NCLEX. I not only passed on my first try, but it only took me 35 minutes to take the test, lol! Also I'm doing a Transition program now and I was so preapred and seem to know a lot more than the students who went to other LPN schools!

Hi all! We have a research project to do for class and we need to use at least 3 online sources, as well as a few others they have assigned. I have searched up and down online for an evidenced based article on either ventilators in general, PEEP, ARDs (acute respiratory distress), or pneumothorax! I'm at my wits end trying to find one, all of them that I find only have an abstract and not the whole article! Can anyone point me in the right direction? THank you so much!

TECO is a great school! I went there for my LPN and am finishing up my last semester in a bridge program at Polk Community College. TECO's program is rigorous and requires a lot of dedication but it really prepares you for your NCLEX. Everyone in our class passed on the first try. There is also Orlando Tech, however I don't know much about that school. Good Luck!

I agree! I drove from Lakeland, almost 40 miles to go!! It was tough at the beginning, but I got used to it! Plus they have a VERY VERY high pass rate on the NLCEX (all our class passed first try!) ! I didn't have a problem with the area either!

I have to agree Boog'sGirl. And most RN programs require you to have an 80% average, no just PCC. PCC has a VERY VERY high pass rate on the NCLEX and I'm sure much of that is because they hold you to such a high standard. I'm currently in the Transition program and I feel completely prepared to take my boards. I checked out a bunch of different schools before picking PCC and I chose them because of their pass rate and talking to other satisfied students. Plus I haven't had a problem staying well above and 80% average at all throughout the program. It just takes a little extra time and studying, but the instructors definitely give you the information you need, its just up to the student to study it. . . ! I'm sorry you feel that way about PCC and had a bad experience, but I think the majority of students have much better experiences.

I didn't need to take a class to become and Tech, just had to finish my first rotation of clinicals, so make sure you check into that before you pay for a class that you might not have even needed to take! I personally think that the LPN to RN way is the best to go. When I moved to Florida I had all my prerequisites finished and then was on a waiting list for almost a year before I decided to the do the LPN program and then the RN transition is only one year (August to August) and there was no waiting list at all. SO overall it took me the same amount of time, but I am able to work full-time as a LPN while in RN transition!

I worked as a Clin Tech while going through LPN school and I found it to be really helpful. I work (and got hired on after graduation) on a Med-Surg Floor and the nurses were SO helpful and really willing to show me and help me when I needed it. I felt like I and the other people who worked as Techs had a lot easier of a time in LPN school since we were around the hospital setting already. Especially in clinicals. A lot of the other people were quite timid getting started and I was able and ready to dive right in. I'm currently finishing up the Transition program at Polk Community College and LOVE it and would definitely recommend it. It is very fast paced, but I really feel like I'll be prepared to take the boards. If you have any questions feel free to message me!

I'm an LPN right now and I work for Orlando Health at Dr. Phillips Hospital on one of the med-surg floors. I worked there as a tech while I was in LPN school and am enrolled in a RN transition program so my manager is letting work as an LPN, otherwise our floor doesn't hire LPNs. However, I've heard that other floors and Winnie Palmer, ARnold Palmer, and Lucerne hire LPNs right out of school. ALso I don't know how far from Kissimmee you are, but A girl I went to school with got a job right after she got licensed at Osceola Regional and another works at St. Cloud!! I hope that helps at least a little bit!

I went to TECO for my LPN and LOVED it!! They really prepare you for your boards, everyone in our class passed them on their first try! And once you have you're LPN if you're planning on continuing on for your RN most schools have a fast track-program! I'm finishing up one at Polk Community College and thendoing a fast track for my ARNP after that with USF (pending my grades stay where they are and I get in!)

I love it! I've been there about 2 years. I think the real reason I love it so mch is because of our floor and the team members we have. Everyone works together and helps everyone out and our Nurse manager and Assistant Nurse Managers are amazing! I think you gain a lot of experience working on a med-surg floor that will become the basis of everything you learn if you transfer to another unit. Honestly, there really isn't anything I don't like about it! I'm sure other people have different opinions but I've had such a good experience I couldn't imagine working anywhere else!
