  1. the six doses of hydrocodone 10/325 is quite questionable. did you misread the order? as far as the blood sugars are concerned...well, at your next job, get them before lunch. even if you know the policy (which is great) it is just a standard that fsbs(finger stick blood sugars) are performed before a meal. i would have called the md for the b/p 101/58 to ask if they may have wanted it held. i wouldn't have just held it. remember, a nurse can use her discretion but still needs an order to hold an ordered medication. if the patient was caused harm by you not giving the medication, you could have been sued because the order reads systolic we have all been in your shoes sometime or another. i dare say that those that are being so hard on you have never made a mistake. hang in there and just look for another job. nursing is 99% common sense - not book sense. know you p&p but use your common sense too.
  2. In NC, lpns can do charge. There is only one LPN at the clinic that I work at, and she is good at dialysis but she doesn't know anything else. That is hard in case of a code or some other complicated situation. She enjoys sitting at the charge desk and rarely checks on her patients - she is a good "paperwork" nurse. The techs love her and talk about what a good nurse she is because she is "fast", not thorough, but "fast" The techs are a bunch of whining babies that enjoy gossiping and some days, I get to the point that I want to find another job. The manager knows what goes on but looks the other way. I feel everyone's pain!!!!!!!!
  3. I have worked with some WSSU nursing students.........they struggled through the program to begin with- unorganized. Plus, WSSU is very well known as the "blackhole" of transcripts. My good friend ended up sending her transcripts there about 3 times. Finally, the local community college transcript office sent them "return receipt" through the mail.
  4. For a new grad RN in northwest NC Hospital: $18-20.45 LTC: $21.00 That is a no-brainer. The hospital is full of Geriatric patients. I'd rather work in LTC. Nowhere near the stress level.
  5. I have been an LPN for 8 years. I went back to school and graduated with my ADN this year. I would highly recommend getting LPN/LVN 1st. Reason #1, you can make a pretty good salary while working part-time. Plus, being an LPN allowed me to breeze through the ADN program.
  6. I did not like the Virtual ATI. I had a predicted pass rate of 99%. The NCLEX questions were very similar to the VATI, but there were no rationals right there for you to read. If you wanted to find a rationale, you had to find the book that the subject was in...arrrggghhh:banghead: Anyway, I really liked the Saunders NCLEX review, but I found the questions to be too easy. The content of the book was a great review. I passed with 75 questions.
  7. I used ATI & Saunders 4th edition. The NCLEX had more of the ATI style questions, but the Saunders book did a far better job of explaining rationales....plus, you didn't have to hunt through ten books to find the answer that you were looking for. I passed with 75 questions.
  8. If you guys are that nervous now, wait until after you take the exam. You guys are going to be in a mental hospital if you don't slow down!
  9. I passed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've cried like a baby all morning.
  10. It takes about a week to post on NCBON. I took my test yesterday...have been on pins & needles since.
  11. Out of 75 test items, I answered 23 SATA yesterday. I was sweating bullets because this format is so difficult for me. I am really worried about my results. I guess all the wondering will come to an end tomorrow.
  12. Every state is different. You have to check with your BON's website.
  13. If someone fails the NCLEX, and the BON states that they must wait 46 days to retest, do you use the same ATT? Are you issued another? Anybody have any experience with this.
  14. I am so sorry. Do you have test taking anxiety? I had a friend that just took the NCLEX for the 4th time - she passed. AFter the 3rd time that she didn't pass, she went to the MD and he prescribed Strattera(after evaluating her several times). She said that she was able to focus better and passed the NCLEX. Don't give up.
  15. There have been a lot of people on here that have had 265 questions and passed. None of us have come out of the test thinking "woooohooo, that was the easiest test that I've ever taken" Don't beat yourself up before you get the results.
