  1. I've spoke to a friend who is in nursing management and he said that a suit sets you apart from other interviewees. I think you can get away with a nice shirt and tie. But I would base your uniform on the professionalism of the hospital. If you are interviewing at a teaching hospital/magnet hospital I would go with a suit. If you are interviewing at a smaller hospital/snf/etc. I would go with a shirt and tie. Also if you are interviewing for a position in nursing management/practitioner/specialist go with a suit. Your attire should match the general environment of the hospital or the attire of the position you are applying for.
  2. Actually I took the test at Santa Ana College. Then I sent my results to San Marcos. I think most of the campuses that offer the TEAS test are done by computer but for some reason SAC was done by scantron and mailed to ATI for grading. Good luck!
  3. I got Downey too. I bought my books already because you can get them cheaper than the bookstore through a couple of different websites. They just take a couple of days to get and I want to make sure I have them by the first day of class.
  4. I didn't get into San Marcos but apparently they are starting an ABSN program at a satellite school in Temecula that I was accepted into. It sounds like you've got a pretty good shot at getting in. I had A's in most of the pre-reqs except for Chem and Micro which I got B's in and got a C in Stats. I think I didn't get into the main campus because I only got 80% on the TEAS. I kind of messed up on the math part and didn't have enough time to fill in all my scantron. This site has a pretty good overview of what's going to be on the TEAS. Just brush up on the parts you think you're weak on. http://www.testprepreview.com/teas_practice.htm Good luck!
  5. I had trouble setting up my CSUDH e-mail account. I ended up having to call tech. services (Marian? 310-243-2045) and she ended up straightening out the problem. I'm able to login now. Call her and leave your name and student ID# if you are still having problems. I had a problem enrolling in the classes too last week. I was able to sign up but it wouldn't let me finish enrolling and said I would have to go to admissions in person to straighten it out. I tried again online today and was able to finish enrolling including MSN 507L. Thanks for the financial aid info NOTREALLYANURSE. I'm going to need all the help I can get since I guess I don't qualify for a grant. They offered me unsubsidized and subsidized loans but it's only enough to cover the tuition and books. nursetobe_socal: I thought about working part-time but with a full time class schedule and the added necessity of keeping a B average in every class I think it's going to be pretty hard. I'm not going to work the first semester and if I think I have the time I might try to get a per-diem job later on in the program.
  6. Just got my financial aid awards summary. It's not much . Looks like I'm going to be living off of Top Ramen and selling my plasma for the next 2 years.
  7. I spoke to someone in financial aid today. They said there was a hold on awards but that we should be receiving awards notifications in about a week.
  8. Hey all, I wanted to introduce myself since it looks like we'll be classmates in the fall. I stumbled upon this thread while I was looking up ways on how I'm going to afford this program. I just received Jorge's e-mail this evening. Has anyone received their official acceptance letter from admissions and records? Deni-during my interview I asked Professor Welch about the sim lab. She mentioned it was still under construction and would probably be ready by our second semester. I actually applied for CSU Fullerton's EL-MSN program as well, and during my interview they gave us a tour of the lab. Jorge was there with some DH nursing students so it looks like we may be using the Fullerton sim lab during the first semester.
