  1. WOW!!!! When I first read the title of the post I thought I would hear some good stories like the other gross, funny, wierd posts. Watch youtube or tosh.o and you will find hundreds of examples of teenage boys doing crazy stunts that land them in the ER. Not a nursing story but I remember my friends ( all boys) in highschool having a spear throwing contest in a pool. All was fun and games until one went through someones cheeck. I also remember when my friends( all boys) decided to bleach their hair WITH LAUNDRY BLEACH!! not only did their hair fall out but they probably had some chemical burns as well. Maybe its these "Jackass" ( the show not the boys) type stories the OP was looking for.
  2. I have been struggling with the same issue, was recently accepted into a program at a private university and my local CC I am leaning towards the CC, heres why: cheaper ( by about 50,000 dollars) closer to home ( makes a difference with 7:00 am classes) higher NCLEX pass rates a strong, highly regarded program. The only thing making the decision hard for me is not graduating with the almighty BSN. Good luck with whatever path you take
  3. all blue is good, it could be worse! I also wouldn't mind a free itouch. I hear they are very useful during clinicals! Maybe they will bring them back.
  4. It sounds like you are as eager to get started as I am, Ms. Kitty. I was so worried about where and when I was going to get into a nursing program, I never really looked into anything beyond that. I dont even know what color scrubs national uses! My husband was laughing at me just yesturday because I almost went out and bought an ipad just to download nursing apps so I could start studying early :smackingf (he talked me out of it!)
  5. That is great luvxallxthextime congrats :yelclap:.
  6. I think right now most people are going to apply to asn and bsn programs and go to the one they get into. The competition is fierce, so most cant be too picky. My original idea was to go to the local cc for my asn and go back to school for my bsn to save money but I was accepted into a bsn program so plans have changed. The pay in hospitals is not all that different. I have heard it can be easier to find a job with a bsn, but since I have not even started nursing school yet, and have not had to look for a job as one, I dont know for sure. I dont think the hourly wages variey more than a few dollars between the two degrees in most cases. I cant help you with the rest since I am not a nurse yet, but it sounds like alot of what you want to know depends on the place you work. good luck in what ever you choose, it is quite a ride but well worth it. BTW, at national it is more like $50k for the program
  7. Hi be happy and congrats on your acceptance:yelclap: When did you find out that you would be joining us? Did you just get the email like Kitty did?
  8. Congrats Kitty Did they tell you it was a computer error? That is one big error on their part. But who care now, right, cant wait till we get our packets so we can get started!!
  9. SO..... I am trying hard to be patient, but I havent heard anything from national all week. I keep expecting an email or letter and so far nothing. I also sent a few emails to the nursing department and to Ms. M with no response, not even an automated "we will get to you when we can" response like in the past. I know they must be crazy busy between the people from this cohort 28 and the people applying to the next cohort, but the wait is killing me. Has anyone had better luck then me?
  10. This may be a really stupid question, but if there were mistakes made with grades, lets say someone really screwed up and calculated things wrong, can they take away someones acceptance? I know that NU isnt exactly the most organized institution and the thought of this is making me really nervous. what do you guys think?
  11. Never mind, forgot who all I sent it too.
  12. Ill pm you cali_luv
  13. If the school lets you go throught the entire application process and then tells you that you went to the nursing forum 6 days too late, they should let you submit you application to the next cohort...then go to the nursing forum in july. As long as you have attended one before the final decision is made. Good luck at your meeting on Weds.
  14. Oh Kitty, that must be so frustrating. They should have told you that from the very beginning! I hope they work this out for you.
  15. Magichospital, I felt the same way as you just a few days ago, In all my prereq classes I had B's. I was just accepted into a program that starts this fall. Keep striving for A's, especially in your sciences because those are the classes that most programs look at, but dont give up hope. If I can do it, so can you.
  16. BTW Kitty, I had the same problem with the nursing forum. I think they wouldn't have let you sit for the teas test or even accept your app. if that was a problem. let us know how it goes at the school.
  17. Kitty, did you apply to the general nursing program or the one bioman did? It seems like there are less spots for some programs.
  18. Just sent it :)
  19. Every cohort seems to be a little different. Some get their acceptance throught the mail and their orientation info throught email, and some its the opposite ( at least that is what I read when trolling through previous posts). I think this is the first time they have used the student portal to inform students of their acceptance or denial. You may not get a packet unless a spot opens up for you.
  20. Thanks, I always forget they dont want us to use specific names. I wont do it again
  21. These are already prereq's, are they going to start including those classes towards points? ------'s email is different. She has always replied back to me within the same day. In the first email they sent out the said the breakdown would be available within 2 weeks, so she may not be able to tell you much now. I will try to sent you a PM with her email, dont know if I am allowed to put it here.
  22. yup, that sound right SDbioMAN. Maybe email would be the quickest way to get a hold of them, I find Margie to be very helpful. I cant believe they are adding more prereq's, do you know which ones.
  23. Reapply for the next cohort. The applicatin deadline is june 10th ( i think) and your grades and teas are so good you have a really good chance of getting in on the second try. are you going to email to find out your points. if you do let us know, it sounds like you should have been accepted with us.
  24. first time at national. I applied to grossmont CC in the fall and was denied, and it was really hard. I was taking chemisty at the time and half my class had applied at the same time as me and got in. If this is not your time just reapply, turn that sadness into determination!
  25. I read in the email they sent that they are going to release everyones scores in about two weeks. I think they are holding out to see who is going to accept their acceptance. If there is anyone who drops out, they will go to the next on the list. I think it is too soon to tell. I have read of people finding out they did make it in until just before orientation. I have been denied acceptance and know how it feels, but here I am starting nursing school just less then one year after one of the greatest disappointments of my life so dont give up hope!
