  1. I got it earlier this week. I'm done interviewing and I decided on the pediatric hospital job. Good luck with your phone interview this will all be over soon and when January comes by we will all be employed!!!!! :)
  2. Yes star is behavioral questioning. Star stands for situation, task you were handed, the action you took and the result that came from it. It's just like the nursing process.
  3. This is so true. I had my heart set on Parkland when I first started nursing school but after the investigation and government take over I turned down the interview for the GN job. This is really sad for the residents that benefit from their services. A lot of nurses license is in jeopardy because of the issues. Not a place to start your career at this point. If you want level 1 trauma try BUMC or JPS.
  4. Yes I had the face to face and a day later the offer. The phone interview with Amy is really laid back she is very nice. Just be yourself and answer the questions in STAR format (situation, task, action, result). Good luck.Which baylor are you interviewing for?
  5. I love all aspects of critical care/ED. Pedi cc is my first choice.
  6. I will be crossing my fingers for you. Yes Cook and Baylor!
  7. Congrats! I just received two other offers this week and I don't know which way to go. Did you get the compensation email from Ms. Winters? The shift diffs are awesome. Now all we have to do is pass the boards.
  8. They apologized on the phone about the interview changes and times so I felt better. The funny thing is they didn't ask if I would accept they just assumed. They called me on the speaker phone and the last thing they said was expect an email from HR.
  9. I got a call Friday night as well. Originally they said they were going to let us know by this Thursday.
  10. It was weird and it really turned me off from the program. They were 30 minutes late
  11. They started phone interviews last week and now they are scheduling face to face interviews for most of the specialties like NICU, Perinatal, Medsurge, and Tele. They want to have face to face interviews for all internships by the last week in October. ER internship had over 600 applicants so it may take more time to sort through those. Hold tight you should receive a call any day now.
  12. Just be yourself and bring several resumes and copies of your letters of recommendations. Don't forget to ask them at least 3 questions you want answers too. Try to engage the entire audience by giving eye contact to everyone in the room not just the person asking you the questions. and remember to take notes when they are talking. Try to ask the questions to a least three different managers. Good luck tomorrow, I hope we get to train together.:)
  13. I just got my offer letter today:yeah:. at first they told me I would know no later then the second week in November but I got it today. They are hiring 18 GNs for the Fort Worth cc/ED residency.
  14. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be the nurse managers were very nice. The residency is actually 2 years long with the first 6 months you rotate through all 6 icu's and ED. Your schedule will constantly change depending on your preceptor but for the first year it will all be day shifts. I'm not sure how many will be hired once I find out I will post it. Good luck next week, you will do fine.
  15. Interview went very well. Bring several copies of your resume for the critical care/ED because you will interview with 7 managers at once.
  16. me too interview next Monday. Good luck
  17. Has anyone else received the news or scheduled an interview for next week?
  18. Did you have to have an extremely high GPA?
  19. I applied and got the email Tuesday that it was under manager/educator review.
  20. my interview is scheduled for 0ct 11 for critical care/ED.
  21. Hi, I am apart of the fall 2010 cohort 3. It depends on your hospital location and clinical rotation that determines what days your clinical will be. My clinicals all fell on the weekend for Foundations, Medsurge, Critical Care, and OB. But Peds, Pysch, and Community were doing the weekdays. You will get breaks from clinicals throughout the 15 months. Clinicals are short with the exception of 1st semester. 1st semester is by far the hardest semester. Clinicals are two days long 10-12 hours a day. Community is 8 hour days two days a week. If you did good in Pharmacology (at least a B) you should do fine first semester. Expect to say bye bye to your family and friends for 3 months. Once you get pass 1st semester it is smooth sailing.
  22. Congrats, you can get your shots for free at your local health department if you don't have insurance.
