  1. The manager should really fix this problem because it can drive many nurses away from this facility.
  2. Hey, All of the schools I've checked out require pre-reqs and a certain score on the ACT(american college test). The asn program requires a 18 and the bsn program requires a 21.
  3. Hey Everybody, I just got in the cna program. It starts in Jan. I just have a quick question. Do cnas work in hospitals or clinics? I know they are very popular at nursing homes. If they do work at hospitals or clinics, what type of work do they do? Thanks for any info.
  4. Hey everyone I just got accepted into the cna program near me.I thought it would help me decide if nursing is what I really want to do. I was just wondering if you guys thought it would be a good experience for me since I want to be a RN. Please tell me why or why not it would be a good experience for me. Thanks for any advice
  5. Hi Im not a cna or anything, but I have many relatives who are. My aunt has been a cna for 30 years. Eventhough her job consists of many nasty duties and rude patients, she loves it. Yes cnas are responsible for cleaning the patients and bathing them. It's a lot of hard work. To be a cna, you have to want to help people. You have to have a passion for caring. The residents at the nursing home where my aunt works fight her, curse at her and many other rude things. Just think of it in a positive way. If you were old or disabled, you would want someone to take care of you. Oh and some cnas work at hospitals doing other stuff too. :)
  6. Hey everyboby, I attend a community college now, but I plan on going to a university for nursing school. I want to pledge when I go to nursiing school. I think it is going to be very hard to do because both require alot of work and dedication. I just wanted to know if any of you pledged while in nursing school. If so, was it hard? How did you handle it? Thanks for any information.:)
  7. Hey like I said, Im kind of new To THis nursing THing. I didn'T mean TO offend any LPNs and if I did, IM sorry. I HAVE Heard oTHer nurses say LPNs are nurses wiTHouT College degrees. I know THAT THey CAN HAVE degrees in oTHER areas.
  8. Hi I also want to be a crna. A Lpn (license practical nurse) license is accomplished in one year. They are nurses without college degrees. You can start off as a lpn and apply for the lpn-rn bridge program. It usually takes one year to complete. Some schools require you to work at least one year as a lpn before applying to the program. You can also become an rn with an associates degree which is about two to three years. Another nurse or nursing student could probably explain that option better because I think you have to sit for the nclex. You can do the rn-bsn option also. To become a crna, you have to have a beachelors degree and at least one year of acute or critical care experience as a registered nurse. Then you can apply for the crna program. I hope this info. helps. If I gave any wrong info., im sure someone would correct me because Im kind of new to this nursing stuff too. :)
  9. I thought the same thing:confused:
  10. I am so sorry to hear that. I will pray for them. I feel so sad for them and I don't even know them. God will help all of you through this terrible time.
  11. Hey what exactly is a staph infection? How serious is it? I know a lady in my hometown that died from a staph infection. Is it easy to get?
  12. I don't think you were wrong at all.:)
  13. I am wondering the same thing. I hope someone gives us some feedback:wink2:
  14. Go for it! Sounds like a good idea.:)

Hey Everyone, I've been told that nursing school requires alot of studying so that will leave no time for a job. My mom told me that I don't need to work while in nursing school and I totally agree. So does anyone know if there are loans out there for nursing students or loans for students just going to school? If so, do you have to have a co-signer? When I go to nursing school, I want to get a big loan to pay for school and to live off. Has anyone done that before? Is it a good idea? So give me some feedback guys. Thanks for any information:wink2:
  16. I just want to take the time to thank all of you for your advice. I am really going to try to get in the rn program near me . I have to retake my ACT and make a certain score and take college algebra. If I can get that accomplished by june 1st 2009 then I'll be all set for the rn program. If I can't then Im going to try the lpn. But thanks again guys:wink2:
  17. Hey everyone, I've been kind of confused about where to start. I wanted to go straight in to an RN program. Now Im thinking about applying to an LPN program this spring. My cousin is in a RN program, but started off as a Lpn. She said it would be better to start as a lpn to get a lot of experience. So do you guys agree? Do you think I should start off as a lpn? I wouldn't mind doing the lpn, but the only thing I hate is that you have to have a year of experience as a lpn before applying to the LPN-RN bridge program. I want to be a crna or np before Im 28. If I do the lpn will it be possible for me to become a crna or np before 28? I just really need your help on this. I need some nurses, students nurses and you that are just interested in nursing opinions instead of people who are not in nursing. I would really appreciate any advice you give me. Thanks:)
  18. I've been hearing a lot of people that work in the healthcare settings say that nurses hate all the physical therapists, speech therapits, pa, occupational therapists and so on. They say the nurses are jealous and mad because they make less money than the above proffesions I just named and they do much more work than they do. Hey guys I meant that when they are on the JOB, the pt, ot, etc do less work than the nurses but get paid more. I just wanted to make it plain and clear about what I was saying. Sorry if I confused many of you.:wink2:
  19. Ok I kind of agree, but it could have been said in a better way. I think it would be better to get the tattoo someplace else that's not so visible. Oh and congrads!!!!!!!! I want to be a crna too.:wink2:
  20. Don't give up. Just pray and it will be ok.:wink2:
  21. Hey I know Im not in nursing school yet and it's too soon to be thinking about a graduate program. Im just trying to look out for my future. Im interested in becoming a crna or nurse practitioner. I have a few questions for the crnas, crna students, and nurse practitioners. 1. Is crna school very hard? 2. What are the main courses you take? 3. Is there a lot of chemistry involved? 4. What is the program length? 5. Is it harder than regular nursing school? 6. Is it stressful? 7. Are you nervous all the time? 1. How to become a nurse practitioner? 2. How long does it takes to become a nurse practitioner? 3. Are you nervous all the time? 4. What are the job duties of a nurse practitioner?
  22. Hey everyone First, Im not in nursing just for the money. I really love helping people. Well I can't be in it just for the money because from what I've read and been hearing, they don't make that much money. That's probably a good thing because then we will have people trying to be a nurse that really don't care about the patients. I've been hearing a lot of people that work in the healthcare settings say that nurses hate all the physical therapists, speech therapits, pa, occupational therapists and so on. They say the nurses are jealous and mad because they make less money than the above proffesions I just named and they do much more work than they do. My cousin is a speech therapist and she works at a nursing home. She said that the nurses up there hate her. She's 24 with a masters and the older nurses really hate her. One of the pts up there told her the nurses were mad because she just starting working and makes way more than them who has been there over 30 years. Many people have been telling me to go to school for something else because nurses don't make much money. I tell them that I really want to be a nurse. I don't care how much they make. I don't think anyone could change my mind. I respect nurses to the fullest and always would. So is it true that nurses are a little jealous of the PA, PT, OT,etc? When it all boils down, nurses get the most respect. I love nursing and no one is going to change that!!!!!!!!
  23. Hey everyone, I am trying to get in the nursing program near me. It is a associate degree nursing program. The other day my sister, cousin, and I had a discussion about careers. My cousin said that if you get an associate in nursing then you are a LPN. She said that you would not be considered as a RN but you will be a LPN. If that is the case, why do the programs have different names and different requirements? Why is it called the LPN program and the RN program? Can someone please answer this question for me. I just want the answer from a nurse or nursing student because I never heard of this until the other day. Thanks in advance:)

Hey I was just wondering if any of you nurses or nursing students have tattoos. I have a butterfly on my right foot. Is this a problem since I want to be a nurse? I wanted to get one or two more, but wanted to get some of you all opinions before I get them. I don't want many because it can look unprofessional. I just want some small ones. I would like to get a small one in the back of my neck, but that probably wouldn't be a good idea. Would it? Has any instructors said anything to you while in nursing school about tattoos? Do tattoos affect job opportunities? Thanks
