pain meds while working?
Hi tattedRN, have you thought about contacting the BON either by phone or going in person for answers? They would be the ones to give you accurate answers. Good luck!

Tattoos in the workplace
I never said anything about wearing long sleeves and infection.. I said it's an extra barrier between my skin and any body fluids. Following universal precautions should prevent the spread of infection regardless of what I'm wearing. Anyone who wears long sleeves in place of following these precautions is not very smart. I'm actually more worried about my shoes and pants rubbing against the beds and spreading anything than I am my arms, to be honest. Also, that's exactly why I bring an extra set of clothes with me every day. If anything does splatter on me (which is more than likely to happen against the 80% of my body that is covered with scrubs) then I can change.

Tattoos in the workplace
That's exactly what I said. It's NOT professional, the same as wearing low cut shirts, anything see through, tight form fitting clothes, fake eyelashes, etc. There's a certain time and place for everything and when I'm at work I'm an RN and I play the role and I have no problem doing so :) I can express myself on my own time. My comment about my tattoos was aimed towards those commenting about them being tacky, because I don't think they are. They also aren't professional the same as flip flops and ripped jeans wouldn't be when going to an interview.

Tattoos in the workplace
I'm covered in tattoos, I definitely don't feel they are tacky in any way whatsoever. I actually have spent thousands on my ink as I did my research and found a really great artist who actually put a lot of thought and detail into my pieces. My work doesn't care about tattoos showing.. I have never heard any older person complain about them either. Everyone walks around with them exposed. Now, with all that being said, I still wear long sleeves to work regardless. I feel much more professional with them covered and honestly I'd rather not have my tattoos be the focus of anything work related. I'm not there to converse about them or talk about their meanings or let them be a distraction for any reason... I'm there to work. Not only that, but I'd rather wear long sleeves and have that little extra barrier between body fluids and my skin.

I can't remember the start dates that they quoted on the application.. I believe it said February though? And as far as new grad pay I have no idea either. I'm not much help lol. Please let us know how your interview goes!! Do you have a BSN, and are you in Tucson? Also, did you do a phone interview or did they just call to set up an in person interview? Good luck to you!!!- u of a new grad program
I received a few calls from a private number on Wednesday, but didn't answer it. No messages left. Hope it wasn't from them! If I don't hear anything by Monday, I'll call HR and see if they're still in the process of making calls!- u of a new grad program
Both my application statuses changed on the 28th and say "under consideration," but I still have not heard anything. How about you?- Carrington College 2013
I just saw that you responded to me in a thread a few Weeks ago.. My phone usually alerts me when someone responds to a post I've commented on! So sorry for the delay!- Carrington College 2013
- Carrington College
Yes I graduated in July and I loved it. I would recommend it to anyone, and in fact my best friend is now in semester 3, and we have another mutual friend who is starting in march. They are NLN accredited.. We got approved a few months ago. I don't know about the above posters clinical experiences but we had rotations at John C. Lincoln, Mt Vista, Arizona Heart, Arizona Regional, West Valley, Los Ninos, Kindred, Maryville, etc.. and all of my rotations were amazing. I spent my fifth semester and most of my preceptorship in the ICU. As far as the teachers go.. I ABSOLUTELY feel blessed to have had every single one of them. Most of my class still keep in touch with the teachers, including myself. And in terms of education, every single teacher is beyond knowledgeable. Their credentials will speak for themselves.. My tuition never changed.. At one point I got charged extra for a few books and the registrar is actually the one who found it and made sure to let me know. She checked the books I signed for and then took the extras off. If you have any other questions you can PM me and I'll be more than happy to answer them. And no I don't work for Carrington.. I'm just extremely happy with the decision I made to obtain my nursing degree there. I started out doing my prereqs through the community college but was not about to get an associates degree and my RN over the span of seven years. To me that just seemed crazy. So I enrolled in Brookline and after seeing how disorganized everything was (this was during the changeover from iia to Brookline) I decided to check out Carrington. Best decision I ever made and the friends I graduated with have become my best friends.- Chamberlain RN to BSN online Jan 2013
I just finished my first class which was transitions. It's an easy class, just make sure you do not wait until last minute to start the posts or the homework assignments. You have to make a total of four posts per week, and two have to be APA format with citations and references. Make sure you have the APA manual, it will be your Bible (I have heard you will need it for every class). I actually liked this class and next up is cultural diversity, so we will be starting that class together! (my advisor lead me to believe that the first session I should only take one class.. To "feel it out.." But I definitely could have handled another class!)- ITT Tech Arizona
Where in Arizona are you? Carrington college has no wait list and they are NLNAC accredited.. You also get a discount at chamberlain for your BSN and MSN if you pursue it through them. I graduated in July and started my BSN-MSN bridge program in October!- Looking to get my BSN in Arizona
No experience with the schools you listed but I just started my BSN online at Chamberlain and so far I love it.- Brookline College 2012
Carrington college was worth the price for me. I actually started out at Brookline when they were still iia, but after they closed and moved locations, I decided to check Carrington instead. Definitely a good choice for me. They are also NLNAC accredited, and you get a discount at chamberlain for pursuing your BSN/MSN. I just enrolled in the BSN to MSN program and start next Monday.- Moving to Phoenix area...advice needed on Hospital and Living
I live in the biltmore area.. If you're looking for a house I can say you will definitely be spending an outrageous amount, but if you're looking for an apt you can easily find some under 800.. 18 at biltmore, mission palms, la paz..- Private nursing schools in Phoenix
I currently attend Carrington and I do recommend it! I just started ob and peds - semester 4. Honestly, I love this school. Love the teachers, love my classmates, love the clinical sites.- Maricopa skills or Southwest skills center??
i took chemistry in high school, also took a&p1 and 2, and biology. i aced the classes but this was 6 years ago so i can honestly say at this point i don't remember a thing! I'm currently attending IIA but they dropped their chemistry so until they bring it back i have to take it elsewhere, and the accelerated will be my only option as i need it completed by april to start the actual nursing program in june. i am on my last week of my math with a 4.0 but the community college credits only transfer in at IIA, not out. so unfortunately i have to test out since i don't have enough time to retake math at the ccs! i hear online is harder with chemistry but at the same time if you're not doing it accelerated you should be fine! when is your start date for your chm?? thanks lizzy and good luck to you, too!! :) - u of a new grad program
