Just got my RN last month having been an LVN. For the 12 months it took me to bridge, I worked doubles on Sat & Sun (32hours) at a nursing home. It was HARD (constant tiredness, sleepiness, many, many moments of self-doubt) but I made it! I am married with two kids and I'm now just getting back to a 'normal' family life. When people would ask me why I did it, I would tell me them ... "to maintain the lifestyle I am accustomed to" and that is the truth! YOU CAN DO IT-prioritize and organize your assignments during the days you are not working - and remember it is time limited, mercifully nursing school does come to an end!

Run, run, as fast as you can you worked too hard for your license to be done!

You go PlumeriaSun! I feel you completely. I graduate in May and it cannot get here sooner. Being a student=bottom of totem pole. Unbelievably rude nurses at clinical sites! Being ignored, one word answers and at times it feels like some actually try to lose you on the floor. Oh, well. I decided this battle is unfortunately bigger than me and talked to my instructor about it. He said unless something is done from the higher-uppers and it trickles down and is accepted by staff nurses, we just have to deal. Only thing I have promised myself is to NEVER make a student feel how I have felt over 90% of the time during my clinical rotation. LET'S BE THE CHANGE WE WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD!

What's up with these microbiology instructors? Mine wore a frown to every class. I did not have a lab book because I did not want to pay for one and I sent her an email which she ignored to see if she had an extra one then I asked her in person and she actually got me one! I then broke all my slides and had to start from scratch! By the end of the class, I could swear I caught a glimpse of a smile - maybe making an A helped. YOU WILL BE FINE. Just believe in yourself. What that instructor told you is WRONG. Happy people just don't say such things. So I bet her life sucks. Also at clinicals, one of the agency nurses on med/surg expected me to have done most of her work by the time we left for the day and it was the first day I had taken on two patients. Guess what? She told me that maybe I should reconsider my career path as I would not make a good nurse! That comment really cut deep. Well, fast forward a year and my nursing school buddy was working in the same hosp as this lady and I asked her to ask her if she remembered the comment she had made. She didn't.
