  1. TeeRN2Be, thank you for your quick response. You have pointed out several great pointers. The one thing I don't want to do is to "sit at a desk". I'd love to be up and around learning and helping out whenever needed but still making sure my work gets done and done correctly.
  2. I have an interview coming up in a week and am looking for any info about what to expect. This will be my first "medical field" interview. I don't have any hospital background other than some clinical experience from nursing school. I've been an EMT for 8 years which I'm sure will come in to play at some point. The position is in the emergency room of a hospital that has about 50 beds. Thanks in advance.
  3. D5NR... D5 is 5% Dextrose N ?? R is Ringer's solution NS is Normal Saline (0.9% Sodium chloride solution) I'm not familiar with the N so hopefully someone is....
  4. I was lucky to get in the program this year (and accepted of course) and keep praying for all of the alternates to get in. An acquaintance of mine was in the middle of the alternates two years ago and got in because they were able to hire another instructor. Rumor is (not confirmed though) that they are trying to get another instructor so that would be great. The nursing office told me that they accepted 54 students this year. They give us until July 28th to accept and have the required paperwork in (shots, CPR card and TB (read and dated after July 1)) which only makes things more frustrating for alternates but keep your heads high. I'm hoping you all get in and we can meet in person.
  5. CONGRATS !!!!!! I got mine Monday and watch out for the adrenaline low (exhaustion) after that wonderful feeling. WTG....Class of 2010 !!! Woohoo !!!!
  6. Congrats SueSh1ne !!!!!!!
  7. All of the above. It has dates listed with requirements such as immunizations, CPR, etc. Include is a huge book list (10 required and 3 optional for NUR106), uniform requirements, etc. Just a date to keep in mind is Sept 18 which is the all-day orientation. Keep it completely open just in case you get in. People have until July 28th to accept their slot. They are one of the last schools to notify so hopefully a lot of other accepted students have chosen other schools by now. Keep me posted.
  8. I had 310 and made it through the first two tie breakers too (A&P grade and residing w/in district). I think you have a very good shot at getting in being #2. Keeping my fingers crossed for you. Hope to see you at the orientation.
  9. I GOT ACCEPTED !!!!! I'm so excited. There are so many things going on in my head right now that I need to get done before school starts. I opened the envelope and read the first line saying I was in then gave it to my husband, started jumping up and down and crying all at once. Tears of happiness. My hubby is so funny, he understands but he doesn't but remains extremely supportive of my new career choice. I so happy for everyone that has been accepted and wish them the best in their schooling endeavors.
  10. Quick question class2010....do you live in the Chemeketa district or closer to Lane? Just curious because that is one of the tie breakers????
  11. Congrats 2010 !!!!! I'm so scared now but anxious at the same time knowing that someone finally got a letter. With 310 too, lets hope people accept elsewhere and I have a chance.. I'll let you know.
  12. None yet and its drive me crazy...no wait...I'm already there! Just kidding. I talked to the nursing office on Wednesday of last week and she said they had not yet received "the list" from the enrollment office. Once she has the list, she'll mail letters out. According to the website, we should know by June 20th but I'm hoping by the end of this week???? Good luck
  13. I'm in the same boat. Out of the 3 I applied to, I've got one letter left to get and pray that is an acceptance letter (Chemeketa). I've taken a CNA class and have put off my state exam hoping to get in nursing in the fall but I might just schedule the test just in case....I see your from OR, where did you apply if I can ask? It can't hurt to pursue your CNA in the meantime. Good luck to you.
  14. Congrats icbinb !!!!!! I'm still waiting for a letter from Chemeketa. I already got letters from Clackamas and PCC and no luck there...
  15. Try not to make it your life if at all possible because it will make you a wreck. I've been waiting since February and should hear any day now...Enjoy your summer and try to keep your mind off of it even though I know that is very difficult. Good luck!!!
