  1. Thanks for info Shanae, I have been pricing books all over: half.com, amazon, and textbooks.com. The bookstore is def overpriced. Also medicalscrubsmall.com has great prices for scrubs. I will continue to post any info that may save us some money, and please everyone else continue to do the same.
  2. Generally, I get up at 5am to go to gym. But I think I will have to move it up an hour once classes begin. Lets not even talk about clinicals which will begin at 6am. I will just have to remain dedicated at all cost. Maybe I will have to learn to like the dreadmill.
  3. You're funny, thanks I needed the laugh. I think I will continue to exercise as best as I can.
  4. Is it possible to continue an exercise regimen and devote appropriate time to study while in NS?
  5. Thanks for the info. Have you checked half.com, their prices are reasonable as well. Thus far, I am totaling $353.71 with exception of nurse pk. I will keep comparison shopping until I find the lowest cost. The bookstore is out of the question (are you serious?), totally overpriced. I am ordering my uniforms and stethoscope today! Family Night is on the 25th, correct? Or has the date changed?
  6. great news............guess who received an official acceptance letter today????? ok, I'll just tell you....me, me, meeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:yeah:prayers were answered, thank God!

  10. congrats. I have an appt for...you guessed it The Bissonnett location, I was trying not to drive all over houston and that was the closest for my zipcode. Guess I will take some reading material or a sudoku puzzle. My appt is on 17th, see you both at orientation.
  11. hey dmariafe No need to freak out, its just one day. I'm sure that your acceptance letter in the mail today. You had 7.4, so you def made it. So once your postmaster runs today be sure to share the great news with us. I will see you at orientation:) And thanks for the prayers!
  12. Congrats, and thanks for your kind words!
  13. I received my letter today. I am an alternate, and with the way things have been going in my life over the last 2yrs, that is great news.
  14. ok I will let you know. My gpa is 3.78, we should find out SOON! I thought about applying for the RN program, but right now I cannot totally commit to two years. So I hope to get my foot in the door and transition over at a later date. Good luck to all! Your gpa is not bad at all, what are you talking about. stay positive, you have worked hard to get to this point.
  15. you have a great score, I have 7.27 not sure if that is good enough, but we shall see. I contacted the admin asst today and letters should go out by end of the is week.
  16. Hi all, Just wondering how many if any, have applied for the LVN program with any Lonestar CC's fall 2010? Good luck to everyone!
  17. thanks Debbie I appreciate your info. Originally I was only going to apply to CyFair only b/c its closest to me, but now I am rethinking everything. For a good ed experience, the drive would be worth it. thanks again
  18. Eboni, Once you complete Psy 2301, Eng 1301 and AP I you receive 4 pts if you earn a A in each class. If not then your pts will reflect the GPA that you have earned. Once you complete 27 - 31 addtl hours you receive 4pts, and then the calculation of your reading score divided by 25...a perfect 100/25 gives you another 4pts. Which campus will you apply to? I hth, feel free to send me a msg anytime, we all are in this together, so we must keep one another encouraged and focused. Take care and I will talk to you soon.
  19. Ms Eboni, Sorry it took so long to respond to your ques, but I am not currently in the program, wanted to apply last Jan but LIFE did not permit it. I will be able to apply this Jan, now I have everything in order, no more personal concerns. Hopefully I will see you in the program next period. best of luck to you
  20. Mz Eboni, Your best source of info can be found on the school website www.lonestar.edu, nursing(search engine). You can only take the Hesi test during the app period, which the next one will be sometime in January. They only take the most recent test score. Focus on reading and math, I know its not much info on my part, but I HTH.
  21. Hi lovelyanne, First of all, you do NOT sound pathetic, you sound very concerned about your future. Your game plan sounds pretty specific. You may want to visit the lonestar website and research info from the nursing dept itself, instead of listening to others. You may become an RN by completing your coursework at North Harris via a ADN. The website also has info pertaining to those who wish to transfer to various universities and which classes are TE in order for you to obtain your BSN. Be careful who you listen to, and do not become deterred based on others who may not have any interest in attending this college, or seeing you achieve your goals. I have my BA already, and will apply to NH in January to become an RN, as this will be a 2nd career for me. Also, attend an information session it will clarify alot of your concerns. You can even complete the session online now. HTH and I wish you all the luck in your future endeavors.
  22. No problem, who knows what others may or may not have. Just do it! Pursue your dream without any delay, and remain more optimistic and less stressful. You've worked entirely too hard just to make it this far, so why hesitate now, take the big step, it will happen.
  23. Go for it, if your score is not high enough initially, you may still qualify as an alternate. hth, congrats
  24. Kyla ann, I believe that the 3 prereqs is what is used for GPA calculation, hth.
  25. I am currently debating whether I should try for the spring/fall. I only need to complete Micro and Sociology. I believe that Cyfair generally has a 11.4 cutoff. I will definitely take the Hesi next month to see where I am and then go from there. Kinda nervous about the reading section since it can make or break you. We shall see.
