I'd like to thank everyone who answered on this thread.. it's been very helpful for me in my application process. I do, however am slightly panicking because I read about having to submit forms to NY BON and I have not yet. On May CGFNS has received my documents, and a month later it was ready for review. On the 'issued report' column it's status says that it's 'waiting for approval'. I've read that ones advice we should wait first for CGFNS at least to receive our documents before applying to NY BON and now I realize that a kind lady on the CGFNS website told me to register for nysed (or is it nybon) online - I believe it was and sent me a link via email, which I have now lost. Please help me - I'm confused with what I should do. Does anyone know where I can register for it online? and do I have to send forms to NY BON via mail? What are the requirements? I'm sorry for all this - I've applied since November and my memory is cloudy on what I should do... I've mistakenly been thinking wrong..

I looked around the forum under this area and I don't think I saw it, but here we go... I hope that this is alright. I'm currently studying in CNU but I plan to move to SWU.. though I hear reputations about the school. I am not trying to downgrade the school for any matter, but once I suggested the idea, my peers told me not to go there because I won't be hired at all once I return to the US (I'm a born and raised citizen form the US studying here in the philippines). Is that true? I know that we all talk about how it doesn't matter because our grades will be looked at, but with SWU, will their clinical rounds/etc be enough so that it won't be a problem once I apply for my CVS/for a job in the States? im just worried about this :| And the peer that told me, by the way, was a Clinical Instructor. I'm not very knowledgable on matters such as these so I wanted to get me records straight before making ultimate decisions.

I am to graduate next year as Im going to be a senior soon (2010) so I do understand that I will be 2 years older because of the school system there. And I've lived in Cebu for a tiny few years and my parents and (loads) of family here in NY speak bisaya all the time so I believe I can understand and speak it, and thanks to TFC (hahahaha) I can understand tagalog for the most part. Are the college entrance exams there really hard? Are there many fil-ams the same in my situation there in the philipines (to losen the nervousness of my ego, LOL) And I just wanted to clarify: has it really been approved for real that nursing there is now a five-year education? *sigh* I really don't want to be studying that long, call me ruthless or not..

Hi, everyone :) I have read many threads concerning this topic but I wanted to clarify a few things, because right now I am just as confused as ever. My parents are suggesting I go to college in the philippines because then I wouldn't have to worry about student loans in the future and such, and to also get me to learn the experience of school there. I'm an American citizen (born here and for the most part raised here - I lived in the philippines for about 5 years, when I was 5-10 years old in Cebu) and I live in New York. The thing is, though, that I heard that nursing is now a 5-year course in the Philippines? My parents and I are hoping that I can get in Cebu Doctors (hopefully - is it hard to get in?) because it is a great school supposedly in Cebu, and we have many relatives around the city. More questions I have are: what exactly is an NLE and do I have to take it? And will I have a problem after graduating going back to New York concerning.. more test-taking, difficulty finding a job, and such, and in general will it be long after I graduate in the Philippines before I can actually get to work back in NY (how and why, please?) an advanced thank you to everyone who answers! I would appreciate your advice and opinions so much! edit: oh and my mom is working here in the US, she has a BSN, and my dad is an American citizen, if that becomes a question.. and also, in your opinion, would it really just be better for me if I go to college here in the states?

I've done lots of research but Im actually confused, these schools have so many alternatives given to a point where my brain just cannot function anymore. For the past month I've been doing nothing but research about schools and nursing, so please help? ? Im going to a community college where I figure I do pre-reqs - 2 years of it. I hope to earn a BSN by finishing the next 2 or 3 years after the community college in NY at either Pace, or Hunter, or Columbia or NYU. I'm not that loaded on money and so I'm focusing on the first two rather than the latter. The community college I go to now gives out ADNs and so I automatically have a degree on that, making me have to pick an RN to BSN program, if I choose to accelerate, correct? So if I go to Hunter, however, I've heard that I have to waste time there for a semester before being able to get into their nursing program (and I doubt I will even afford to do so), and in Pace, I hear that their nursing program is only in the Westchester campus - which I cannot go to, as I don't drive and other family issues concerning the campus and area. And also, do most people who earn their ADNs actually work or do they go straight to earn a BSN? Oh, and im not even close to being around the NY state - I originally am, though from Westchester - I moved to TX about last August. I'm so sorry for sounding so ridiculous right now, but I really just wanted to clear it up with your more experienced folks ? Any things that I got wrong? Any other programs in Manhattan that I actually haven't heard of? Or opinions, and advice? I would really appreciate it! ?

I know that this is so late to reply to, but - Is it true that you have to be a hunter student to get into their nursing program? You can't be a transfer student from another state who's finished basics/prerequisites, who is hopingto finish a BSN in Hunter? :/ Please help!

Hi everyone! This is my first post (and undecided, out-of-high-school student) so please disregard my pathetic-ness But I feel like an idiot, because apparently I don't know much about the North Harris RN program. The thing is, I want to be a BSN - which is four years of study, correct? I was planning on going to NH for two years, then continue to strive to be a BSN at another University. People, however, are telling me that they aren't sure, because to be in NH you can only go as far as an LVN and if you want to be a BSN at another university or transfer school, you will have to study another 1 1/2 year and take twice the tests than intended. I guess I figured that I do 'basics' at NH while continuing nursing school at say, Pace.. My mind is so muddled now because I am now so confused :/ Please help? And a thank you in advance! :)
