  1. hi there. when i read your post, i thought it was me writing it. Its going to be my year anniv today as an Med surg rn. After 6 months it has gotten better than the first time i wrote this post. But still, everyday is a learning experience. Till now i find Med Surg tough but i don't regret being here anymore. I am just ready to be in a different nursing field because my legs hurt already from all the running and walking . (i really want to go to home health). i hope everything will be better!
  2. Hi everyone! This December would be my first year after nursing licensure. I have been working in the Med Surg Floor for 3 months now. i work night shifts. i had 2 months of orientation and its been a month now since i worked own my own. i have good and bad nights. this past few weeks was always been the bad nights. specially last night. I feel like i am struggling nurse. i feel like im so slow with everything! charting, giving meds, discharging patient and admitting patients. i ask so many questions to my charge nurse and other nurses and i feel like im such a pain and just added trouble to their work. they are not saying anything to me but i just feel like they had enough of my questions. i feel so frustrated and just feels down because i dont think i am productive enough as a nurse. i want to be the best nurse that i can be but some of the things i really dont know like chest tubes, some med clarifications, blood transfusions and other nursing procedures. sometimes i cry when i get to my car after work because i feel like i messed up. like surgery check list that i didnt not even go half way and when the nurse asked me did you do the check list i just said no.. the patient is scheduled at 1300 hr and i just thought that the next shift can do most of it because i stiil need consent from a family member because the patient was not capable of signing anything. anyway.. it takes me double the time to admit and discharge patients than other nurses. and sometimes i forget to do some of the charting and i just remember when i get home. i just feel so frustrated, discourage and sad. will i ever feel competent enough?? had other nurses felt the same way?? am i alone feeling this way?? thank u for listening.. mochafrap
  3. SoCal.. for a new grad rn, i think its $27-29.
  4. hi there. i recently transferred from cali to tn. everything went out smoothly. it took me around 2 month to get my permanent license. i love working in tn. im in a new grad program and everyone is wonderful!
  5. Because i moved from CA to TN. my husband has to transfer nursing here in Middle TN. we are looking into TSU and Belmont. But i think Belmont is expensive. Is it? how much is it? Anyway, is it hard to get into TSU nursing program? Please Please give me some info about TSU and other Middle TN schools of nursing. thank u!!!!!!
  6. hi everyone! Even I am having problems geting hired here in california. I am already an immigrant and passed my nclex-rn since december. i have passed my resume to more than 10++ hospitals and went to almost 5++ hospitals around here in california. Till now there is no willing hosptial that wants to hire me. hay.. good l
  7. the problem is.. we dont have a DON. imagine? its been i guess more than a month now. i am the only RN in the building and if a problem arises the license that is in jepordy is mine.
  8. hi. i have a question about SNF/LTC's. I am a new grad. I applied for a nursing home in pomona, ca. i accepted the job as an RN and the mistake which i made was i didnt even ask how many RN patient ratio. or what my title would be. I just came from an orientation today and i just found out that that facility only has 1 RN per shift without a DON! and that 1 RN is assisgned to 4 nursing stations! with 200++ patients.and my title would be an RN supervisor. although there are LVNs. Honestly i overwhelmed and didnt know what i got into. I dont know what ill do during my shift because tomorrow ill be the only RN at night shift. I was only oriented for 2 days and the RN that oriented me today was the last orienatation ill have with an RN. Also, i told the guy that hired me that i dont have a certification for IV and would not insert IV's. is that normal to have only 1 RN supervisior or just 1 RN for the whole facility??? Im thinking of quiting because i dont i can handle 4 nursing stations and being an RN supervisor and just being a new grad RN.
  9. hi all! I am looking into applying in a SNF since its hard to get a new grad job in the hospitals. but i am just curious on how much is the salary of an RN in a Skilled nursing facility? I am here in Chino Hills CA. Thanks in advance!
  10. I went but they sent me home because they told me that they weren't accepting new grads from other countries. so basically i just wasted my time
  11. gwafuh_rn referred me to Excel review center. their main office is in chicago. i passed because of my review in excel. its worth it.
  12. hi there! its so hard to look for a job these days specially for new grads! and i would like to apply in skilled nursing facility but not sure what nursing facilities are out there. Do u know any skilled nursing facilities or LTC near san bernardino or inland empire. specifically in rancho cucamonga, ontario, chino and chino hills? thanks everyone! i just feel frustrated
  13. i have both 3rd and 4th ed. and i strongly recommend the 4th ed. what another $20 for a more up to date version? saunders 4th helped me pass mt nclex-rn by the way. so best of luck!
  14. hi! i failed once in CA and took a review course in Excell nursing review, they helped me pass. anyway, don't loose hope! just keep going until you reach your goal! :redpinkhe
