  1. Opps, I forget to tell you city hawk that my speciality is MED/SURG too!!
  2. just wanted to say yes, i love working with men who are nurses because they tend to shy away from all the back biting, whining, and complaining. they don't yell, stomp off because they are pi$$ed and will not hesitate to take an admission even if they already have 6 patients. they come to work to get the job done and leave. i also like yall because you really don't care when your co-workers baby shower is or what your co-worker did on vacation. (that's how i'am)!!!! to keep nurses satisfied with their jobs and to schedule excellence on your nursing units 5 rights must be top priority-the right people on the right shift with the right credentials with the right compententcies for the right compensation!!
  3. Just wanted to say I truly admire and appreciate you guys, who happen to be nurses. In my opinion if their were more males in nursing, more questions/conversations would take place on this forum!!! I just want to know what have yall be up too?
  4. This is supposed to be a nurse retreat to celebrate nursing, positivity and taking ownership of your own professional practice. I'm not making any of my co-workers attend!! If they choose not to attend thats fine with me but probably not o.k. with my new vp of nursing that was hired to induce change and get people on board or they can get out..... I was hoping to get cool responses regarding the music I choose. Thought maybe, I could get intelligent responses to help me.
  5. :nurse:Hi, Just asking if anyone has any thoughts or comments about shared leadership. At my place of employment we are moving into a totally different culture of "excellence". At this current time things are out of control on my unit. New VP of nursing desires a shared leadership culture. Whats your take? Also, we are planning a retreat for nursing staff to get everyone on board with the concept. I'am in charge of the music during breaks and meal times. Anyone with ideas on song choices? Thanks in advance. Have a wonderful day!! I would like the songs to reflect NEW BEGININGS!! Our theme will be butterflys. (new transformations) ie changes
  6. :yeah:Great Job!!!! Sounds like you did everything right. All codes feel like the very first one. It's always scary!!!! Keep up the good work
  7. Thread closed.
  8. No More comments needed. Thanks for your response..................
  9. Sure. Another facility calls the HR department (in the same Health system) asking the dates of employment. The HR department pretty much slanders the employee by defamation of character, preventing further job oppurtunities. It is ok if this HR person does not like this person, but statements such as "we don't want that nurse back here" is going in the direction of ill intent and slander. Maybe "she" does not want this nurse back, but not EVERYONE has a problem.
  10. Just wondering if any nurses out there would be willing to share thier story about being blacklisted and how they over came adversity in the work place. What steps did you take on "clearing" your name and recieving job opportunities @ another facility, but the same system? Thanks in advance for your comments!!
  11. :wink2::wink2::wink2: :smokin: I love reading what all you guys have to say!!! I'm your #1 supporter and yall just don't know it!!! Way to go!!! To all of the competent and fantastic nurses (who happen to have testosterone and not estrogen) keep on coming in to this professions!! You guys ROCK!!!:yeah::yeah:
  12. :stone I work on a med/surg unit where we have about 30 staff members. 11-15 are low performers and need to go!!! What is permitted is promoted. The life and passion has been sucked out of the high performing nurses. It does not have to be like this. At one time we had a GREAT TEAM!!!!
  13. :smokin:How a bout freq flyer patients (who are drug seekers) that would shoot up anything, if they could their hands on it- Crying like a big baby because they have used UP all of thier veins and we can't find another site!!!
  14. :no:I need advice. I believe and many of my co-workers as well think we need new management on the floor where we work. We don't know where to start. Low performer nurses getting by with everything, patient satisfaction down the tubes, no support, no positivity from management or encouragement, allows the nurses station to become a zoo with other departments standing around talking (management included), depressed nurses with poor morale. Help!!!!
  15. :nurse:Thanks every body for all of your great insights, thoughts and suggestions. Oh, and one more thing- NURSES RULE!!!!!
