NELRP 2011 awardees
Anyone know of anyone who transferred facilities? They said it will take 4-6 weeks! I have a tentative start date in November. I hope they give an answer closer to the 4 week period.

NELRP site transfer request
Sooooo...what was the answer? Did they give you any problems? How long before you received an answer, and how did they notify you? I'm trying to relocate and am super nervous about transferring sites.

North Suburban Medical Center
Can you please specify the "bad things" you've heard about at North Sub? Being crazy and busy is one thing, but unhappy and rude coworkers is another! Any info you can give is much appreciated!

Rush GEM Interview
Congrats! Now if only they would tell me my finaid so I can figure out how I'm gonna pay for school...

Rush vs. DePaul masters entry program
A co-worker of mine did DePaul's program and loved it. I'm starting at Rush in January, and the newness of the program came up in my interview--I had concerns about it as well. Their explanation was that it was an idea promoted by the staff who already taught similar classes, that applicants who already held a bacchelor's degree wanted a more advanced degree, and that the program is similar to the ABSN but obviously more in-depth and with an added CNL option. The interviewers assured me that everything was running quite well and when I asked if they ran into any problems the one interviewer looked hurt and offended. So they are quite proud of their program and Rush has a strong reputation as a quality school for nursing.

Rush GEM Interview
This was over a month ago so my memory is a bit hazy...I think my interview was on a Tuesday or Wednesday and they said the committee met on Friday. I heard back early that next week. I don't want to panic you, but maybe as more seats get filled it takes longer to deliberate about acceptance. If you don't hear back within the next couple of days give them a call and see what's up.

Rush GEM Interview
They told me 3-4 weeks and I heard back in about 5 days. I also received an email about finaid but have yet to hear about my package ... Good luck to you, hopefully we shall meet in Jan!

No She/he Did Not!!!
No she didn't tell the mother of 4 who walked into the ER, was actively in labor, and felt the need to push that they would just "run really fast" to L&D. The woman delivered in the hall outside the gift shop. LAWSUIT!

MEOW! Catty nursing students
First, you said you were in an accelerated program. So that's post-bachelor's, making the youngest person in the class...what? 22? I would sincerely hope that someone this age or older would be more mature, but I know that is asking too much. As the last poster said, in an accelerated program how could you have the time or energy to even care about rumors or gossip. Don't they have better things to do with themselves? Sadly, it seems to be a theme for many nurses to act immaturely and unprofessionally. I see it at work all the time. So they don't outgrow it after school is out. Perhaps it is the drama of illness and death and emergencies that draws them to healthcare, and it is this same lust for drama that leads them to create it in their personal life. I don't know and I don't care, but I really wish they would cut it out. Sadly, this is why I seriously considered not going into nursing or even healthcare for that matter. Learn your lesson and don't be a part of it anymore in life.

Rush GEM Winter 2009
Just found out I got accepted about a week ago. Anyone else starting in 09?

new grads of direct entry programs: are you paid as an NP or an entry level nurse?
A co-worker of mine just graduated a BS to MSN with CNL. She started out at the pay rate of a regular new grad but advanced through the pay levels much much faster. Of course her degree was in CNL not a NP.

Grad School (NP Program) Interview Tips
I had an interview at Rush at couple weeks ago. They asked typical questions, nothing out of the ordinary. Why I wanted to be in the program, how I handled stress, what changes would I make in my lifestyle if accepted. The most important thing is to RELAX. If you got an interview, they like you. They just want to make sure you're not a wierdo.

Rush GEM Interview
The interview is in a few weeks. I'm aiming to start Jan. 2009. I think the deadline for winter 09 applicants was July 1st, no?

Rush GEM Interview
I received confirmation for my interview at Rush a week or so ago, and I was just wondering if anyone has any advice or insight they would like to offer. Thanks so much :) PS Any other GEM applicants out there?

Another Excelsior question for IL residents
Thank you very much, there is actually a VA hospital near our house so that will work out perfectly. Working full-time might be rough for him as he already has a full-time job. I'm going to get in touch with the IL board of nursing and I will post my findings.
