Saint Francis hospital new grad help
Keep applying! I work at St Francis and we are getting ready to transition to a new software program. Its nuts. There are changes coming up. For instance our floor is expanding and we will be moving to two floors and they are adding a psych area. Dont give up! Maybe try calling the recruiter and asking her advice what you can do. I dont remember anyone looking at my transcripts though. hmmm. Good luck! Also want to add that I applied multiple times before getting hired.

I know this is an old post but I thought Id put my two cents in. I am an RSU grad. I have started the BSN program but I am not currently attending because of health issues. RSU is worth it. Hard work...yes. We, as nurses, have peoples lives in our hands. Its serious. BUT...I loved nursing school. The good and the bad. It helped me mature as a student and as an adult. I think the teaching staff has changed since I went there. When I was hired as a new grad various people told me that RSU has a good reputation and produces excellant nurses. I think so too. Nursing school is hard to get into and hard to complete but is worth it.

I just wanted to add I think its cool that you care enough to think about her reaction and care about what shes going through.

overly pleasant demeanor after CA diagnosis?
I have been an RN for a year and a half. I was daignosed with breast cancer November 2. I have already decided to make the most of a bad situation, keep my sense of humor, live and love, and to fight like hell. Crying and feeling bad about losing my boobs and hair and about the side effects of chemo isnt going to help me recover. Im not in denial. I am going into this like a warrior not a victim. I am still me, Im a goof ball. I cry when Im alone and when my husband is holding me. Im scared of mets, Im scared of dying. I may or may not dry in front of my nurses. I dont know yet. Its easy to assume that because shes smiling that she is coping in an unhealthy way. You may not see the tears when the door closes.

pay for RN at st.johns hospital in tulsa, ok
I'm a new graduate. The trick is to find the job with the great shift differential. That will greatly increase you rate. I work weekend premium option. $21 base pay + $2 weekend differential + $7 premium weekend shift differential. I only make my base pay on my shift that is during the week. Good luck.

Considering LTC in the future
Hello, I obtained my LPN Aug 2010 and my RN June 2011. I worked LTC as a CNA and as a LPN. I currently work in a large hospital and will stay there at least another year. I will have my BSN completed but the end of summer 2012. I love the LTC population but as an aid and as a LPN I saw and lived with lack of adequate staffing, hostile environment, unhappy overworked aids etc. I want a job where I can be an advocate for the patients and the staff. Does anyone work for a company that offers training to do the DON job correctly?? I want to do more than barely make it, stressed out, guessing on how to do my job. Im looking for a company that will teach me the job and back me up. Is there such a place?? I know that I can make a difference and be a force for postive change... given the proper tools. Anyone work or recruit for such a company??

Langston University
I dont know about Langston but look into RSU. What are your grades like for comp I, A and B, and cell Bio? They also require a freshman orientation class worth one credit hour and a dosage calculation class also worth 1 credit hour. These need to be taken at RSU but I believe they offer them online. Good luck.

RSU Fall 2010
Concerning dosage calculations....do lots and lots of practice questions and dont miss any of the lectures. If you have a hard time make an appointment to see the instructor, they want you to be successful! I even asked for extra practice questions. Once you got it down though youll be like, woe!! thats not so bad :) Also, when I took it there were 5 pont quizzes at the begining of every class those points are very impoprtant. First time I took Dosage I missed clasess and quizzes and got a C in the class the next time I got an A. Dont underestimate the value of those points.

RSU Fall 2010
$65 for your background check!!! Are they doing something different? Hi guys I am going into my 2nd year of nursing at RSU if you have any questions. If they do it the way we did it youll have skills labs and lectures for the first few weeks. The teachers are awesome and you will be led step by step the first few weeks so dont worry. If I could give any advice it be NOT to get overwhelmed and dont try to print all the documents youll need all at once. It will all make sense to you after a bit of time. As far as the white pants......white granny panties and an extra pair in the car for emergency back up :) the uniform actually looks great witht the navy top and the white pants. Congrats and see you at school!
