Yes I took it in Florida.... Also I took 6 montHs of PN school and when we were doing our fundamentals It was the way it was taught to us as well....

I took the test last year, I passed on the first try both the written and skills... I did study alot on the skills. They had me do BL pressure, side lying postioning and hair combing, which was very simple. U need to remember the order and just make sure u greet the pt, simulate drawing the curtains, knocking on the door.. etc.. let them know what u r doing and most important safety for the pt always.... Hand washing, its important u remember to stay washing those hands for 15 secs... If not they will fail u for it. Weighing the pt, make sure u put the paper towel on the scale for the pt, they can fail u for that too... Positioning for the pts, Make sure u know were to put the pillows and how to position ur pt. The center I went to the instructor was a bit picky, they dont expect you to do things perfect but u need to remember the routine of things.. Hope this helps... Take Care, Good Luck...

I took the test in June, It was fairly easy.. I took it at the Miami Institute, I was partnered up with another student, I was given three skills and indirect care, They do stop u if they beleive ur going to harm the patient, but other than that they just observe as far as you simulating, knocking before u enter explaing to your pt what u will be doing, handwashing inbetween care etc....They are not meticulous with the way u do things, they just want to know that u know ur procedure, HAND WASH VERY IMPORTANT UR FIRST ONE. Make sure u do the first one a full 15 seconds or ur done. One of the girls failed it because she did not due it in 15 seconds the first time she took the test.. They randomly pick ur skills so it could be any. Good Luck....

Hi there, I was taking the LPN course in Miami Lakes ED Center, I am sad to say I did not finish because I got sick and dropped the program. It is very intense but if u enjoy it u can get through it..... I got my NA License and now I am goin to start taking a Phlebotomy and ekg course to help get employment in the hospitals. A PCT basically shares same responsibilities and they have the ekg and Phlebotomy experience as well. I can tell u that Miami Lakes is and accredited institution and once u finish there program it will allow u to transition into Miami Dades Nursing Program, Before I signed up in Miami Lakes I went to see my advisor at MDC and she is the one who gave me this information that is why I chose to go to Miami Lakes ED. One more thing hospitals have PCT positions. If u go to job search in the hospital systems u will come acroos what they refer to as PCA. Patient care associates, SAME THINGS AS PCT..... You can go to this website and it will give u a free practice exam. Its 50 multiple choice questions. www.prometric.com/nurseaide/fl.htm. U can also register to take the exam through this website. I took it and only missed 5 questions. It was pretty simple.... Take Care...

Hi, I went in with the same fears as u r feeling.... I too was never a straight A student, but to my amaze I am holdong my own and I do consider that In my first semester of PN school I did great.... My first day of clinical was scarry but I had an amazing CNA to teach me the basics of pt care. U need to just get rid of the fear and dive into it and also beleive in yourself. I am going into Pharmacology and this subject to me will be challenging but even if I dont get through it, I tell myself the worst that can happen is I have to take the course over again , and I get put on academic probation. I defiantely wont give up and I have passed with an 87 and higher in all my courses so far. I think we all go in with fear but once u r there it does diminish that I can promise u. Congrats on ur first week.... I am in a full time program and yes it is very intense b/c of so much information in such a short amount of time. We basically did the same thing u described the firsI week. Our fiirst test consisted of 100 questions and that week I went over the chapters with a fine tooth comb...... The Sunday b4 my test I woke up at 5am and studied until noon.... I scored a 93 on that test and for me it felt great...... I wish u the best and look forward to more of ur updates... I heard when we started Anatomy that the class before us started with 30 into anatomy and ended up with only 12 students finishng anatomy. I do have to say of all the classes I have had yet , Anatomy was intense b/c of the mount of time they gave us, only 4 weeks.....

I also bought a new pharm book that most of my classmates told me to get, I , it seems I relate better to this one, its called core concepts in Pharmacology, it breakes things down so much simpler and the practice questions for each chapter are really good. I have been reading basic pharm for nurses and its way to detailed and confusing. Thanks again...

The fundamentals has alot of critical thinking, They do put alot of questions on test regarding the critical thinking theres also alot of rationale when going through the chapters. VERY IMPORTANT, alot on our tests as well. I am in an LPN program in Miami, Not sure how they will start u off, As far as Anatomy I do suggest u get familiar with it and a bit of advice Focus on the endocrine system, Its coming back to haunt me..... Hi, I am sorry u have been through such a ruff time.... Being honest with you is what I prefer to do here, I dont want to discourage you , But your health comes first, Just to let u know there is alot of stress with PN school, because its so intense, You need to be sure you are ready for the challenge not only mentally but physically as well. Within the first month of starting school last year I came down with the flu, I never get sick so I am pretty sure it was the stress , at the time I was taking A&P, we had only 4 weeks of A&P and it was extremely stressful, We were taking at least 2 tests a week and that does not count for quizzes we were being given as well... That was just ANATOMYS...... Recently I came down with Bronchitis, I did not have time to get to my doctor b/c I was in my last week of Fundamentals and preparring for our final. At the starting of Pharm I had to drop because I was doing so bad I had severe restriction to my lungs and I ended up hospitalized twice. The stress is overwhelming at time but If your going to get through make sure ur prepared. Good Luck......

Hi, Good suggestion, life as it is normal now completely changes, I am struggling going back b/c of all my free time now, I got sick during Pharmacology and had to drop the course, I dont start till May/June. I have been enjoying my family time as much as I can because I knowall my free time will be dedicated to school. Just remember its not permanent and its only a year or so of sacrafice. I am in an Lpn program In Miami as well, we started with a class of 15 , I had to drop because of health reasons , I start again with Pharm in May/June I still have not been given an exact date. Anyway the class now is down to 11. I still keep in touch with everyone there. A little advice is study habits are extremely important in order to get passed your tests. Adjusting to all this was tuff for me, I study at least a good 3-4 hours a day when I am in school. More the night before a test. Good Luck.....

Thanks alot. I usually read and reread my chapters, I have been doing flash cards for all these drugs and I realized no sense in trying to learn the meds without classifying them first. Last nite I sat down and did 3 hrs of studying the way I usually do when I am school and It did me a world of justice. I do beleive ur write when u say if u focus on what ur not retaining its gong to stress u to the very core, its been this way with me since I left school in Feb. We all have are methods of studying and I just think I need to get back into how I was doing when I was in school. I will take ur advice on how to keep the meds in mind. Hopefully it will help to draw things I do like studying off images it helps a great deal. My first Pharm test the week I was there beleive me was tuff but I did pass it with an 82. Not one of my better scores but considering how ruff things were for me I was just happy to pass at that point. Thanks again..

Hello everyone, I am an LPN student in Miami Florida, In Feb I started taking the pharmacology course and I made it through the first week, I got really sick and had to drop the class after missing 2 weeks. I start again with Pharm in May or June, My first week was really difficult and I would like to know if anyone who has taken Pharm can give me some advice as to what to expect and how to study all these meds. I have been trying on my own and its been really scary and I am not retaining most of the information on all these drugs. What should I be concentrating on regarding the meds?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.
